  1. His work was great and I have found even his recent work (angriest man in brooklyn - not a very good movie but has its moments) lifted my spirits. Never met the guy, don't know him, haven't followed his career but enjoyed much of his work. It is sad a man he took his own life not realising how many people thought highly of his work. Its a strange feeling to realise their will be no more movies with him in them, he has been in them most of my life.
  2. I have a G&P aimpoint (you can read my review in the reviews section) and its pretty low quality. I highly doubt their eotech clones are anything special either.
  3. The problem is how do they know the rounds were accurate? You see it all the time at near maximum range of the guns the rounds going all over the place and you have to wonder what chance they would have of hitting anything another 10metres away if they reached that far anyway. Doesn't strike me as very sensible, even in the real world you can often see the enemy before you can shoot him.
  4. I found my CM16 hi cap magazine didn't feed all that well. It kind of worked but on full auto it couldn't keep up with the guns moderate 12 rps. I actually ended up buying a flash mag which didn't really miss a beat, it worked pretty well but still occasionally stopped feeding. Now I use midcaps, and despite having issues when they are completely full they feed flawlessly to the last BB.
  5. I ran into this piece of cover, and a few seconds after I get hit on the side of my back, which is facing the wall of the cover. I call hit and stick my hand in the air but I am 99.9% certain all the enemies are behind that wall so I just can't understand how I got shot. Then I hear the ping of a ricochet BB off a barrel on the corner. Turns out the guy was using the barrel to shoot around the corner at me. I called back in and proceeded to carry on fighting. Totally against the spirit of the game, just looking to get ricochet hits in that way and hope the honourable people take them not being sure where it came from.
  6. What makes feeling so tired worse is that you have to clean all your stuff and it takes hours. I probably spend more time cleaning and maintaining my kit than I do actually playing the game. Just like in the military its almost an authentic experience because of the small amount of fun stuff with hours of cleaning.
  7. Usually I feel exhausted, I push too hard most days and pay for it in my poor muscles. But I also reflect on the movements I made, the plays I attempted and what I did well and what I did poorly and how I could have done things differently.
  8. For the UK G&G guns target 100 m/s (328 fps). The FPS of my first G&G gun came in at a peak 340 but mostly 335 and my second one came in at 315. Both have dropped 10-20 fps since the initial game. G&G seems to use a 100 m/s spring in its guns for the UK market so it will be mostly CQB (328) legal, certainly after a thousand rounds have gone through it and definitely below 350 out of the box. You might actually want to increase the spring to be closer to 350 to ensure your opponents don't have you ranged (worth a few meters), depends on the field.
  9. A lipo when its fully charged is actually 8.4 Volts. As the battery drains the voltage reduces and 7.4V is about the 10% mark, and the time the battery should also be changed. So while they call it a 7.4V lipo in practice its 8.4V initially and ends at 7.4V, so its almost always above that rated voltage. For me the main reason to use a lipo is its smaller and I don't have to faff about with discharging it to avoid battery memory problems. I was always going to get a smart charger anyway and the lipo's are just easier to use and care for. Trigger response etc is a bonus I guess, but my trigger pull is sooo spongy I doubt that makes any practical difference. I can still pull the trigger partially and not get a round off but have the motor turn so its not like its lightening quick.
  10. Need to work on that trigger reset. With a bit of practice I suspect you could end up taking the trigger back to the reset point without taking your finger all the way off the trigger as you appear to be doing now, which should increase your rate of fire quite a bit and is the path to getting double taps.
  11. Today in one game I got through 1200 (550 loaded initially into mid caps, the rest from the speed loader) rounds of my main rifle, all 3 magazines of my pistol (72 rounds) and the game still wasn't over. Just sometimes a pistol isn't enough.
  12. Sure its nice to have a RIF but honestly but all the under 18's that play on my site do so with two tone guns or rentals. You can't buy them yourself so your still in the gift territory anyway and without having a parent commit to playing themselves for a period just to get you the RIF its not worth it, and I think its arguably against the intent of the law (which is to avoid minors having RIFs and IFs of their own).
  13. While I have seen a few accuracy comparisons I haven't yet seen a truly masterful roundup of all the BBs available to UK purchasers and what people should buy for what power and what guns. Personally I found an enormous difference in accuracy with 0.25g AEG blasters over the 0.20g, whether they be Devil or normal ones. I am trying out 0.28g to see if that makes any difference as well, because while it might marginally adjust the range the accuracy difference I personally saw on paper at 10m was quite dramatic. To give you an idea of the difference a 0.25 grouping will all be in the black, maybe 1.5 inches circle. The 0.20g ones however is more than twice the size, at least 3 inches and often a bit more. That is indoors at 10m. You don't need to be firing far or in bad conditions to see the difference heavier ammo makes to the accuracy. How that holds at long range I haven't yet had the opportunity to test it, I really need a range with 30m that will let me shoot with a BB gun and I just don't know of any.
  14. A lot of people go through this progression. They start with very little gear, then they gain chest rigs, belt rigs, molle everywhere even on their legs and gradually they realise they are carrying a lot of gear into a game and they never use it all. There is this moment of realisation that its very heavy and not worth carrying so much stuff and then you snap back to something less overburdened. Going all the way to the pistol is certainly going to limit your long range accuracy (not because of the gun but because of how you hold it) and its probably going too far, but I do often wonder if midcaps are worth all the extra bulk.
  15. I have been told the same on this forum and in quite a few reviews. On my CM16 carbine I had to replace the nub because it was massively overhopping out of the box, with the hop off. A replacement of the nub and resetting all the placement of the barrel and such fixed the issue. It now hops about even with the hop off. I wouldn't exactly call that legendary. Then when I got the T4-18 I saw much better accuracy straight away compared to the CM16 (shooting at paper at 10m). But then I got out into the field and applied hop and once I had it right I found the rounds were being pulled about 12 moa to the right, it was well away from the zero I had set. The vertical pull I was expecting, the horizontal I wasn't. At range I had 3 person widths of spread at least, I had some rounds over hopping and some under hopping so it was really inconsistent. I knew it might take some time to bed in and I have now put about 3000 rounds through it so I am expecting the hop to behave now, but it doesn't seem to be any better. Right now I am trying to work out the issue. I have been testing the FPS and found it to be within about 4 FPS drift at 310 so I don't think air seal problems are causing the issue. Right now I think its maybe the bucking, but its just a bit of rubber so I will probably do a H nub like I did on the CM16 and the bucking at the same time. The hop on both my G&G guns has been far from legendary, they have been a pain in the backside. I haven't yet worked out the cause of my problem on the T4-18, so I can't yet tell you what the issue is like with the CM16 where I did track it down and fix it so until I do so I can't tell you if its the unit or something simple. But I can tell you this, its my last G&G gun and I am so tempted to just sell it and get something else (The TM Scar H like I was originally going to buy).
  16. I don't know what magazines its meant to take, I just know its got a spine in the back of the magazine well that meant it was overly tight on the G&G magazines I was using (landwarrior had no issue selling those as compatible incidentally). I had a chat with the guys at proairsoft (the main importer of G&G guns) and they showed me their store display where they had ground the magwell down. I suspect its a design flaw keeping an aspect of the HK416 magazine design while changing the external magazine well angling wasn't all they needed to do. My main issue with the gun is the hop up, its horribly inconsistent. The grinding I had to do did solve the stupidly tight (two hands needed to remove the magazine, so far too tight) but the hop is still utter rubbish so far, I think I just need to replace the bucking as the unit itself is maintaining settings. I also tested some PMags on site 1.5 weeks ago and they didn't feed. They fit and hold but I get no rounds through it. That is consistent with the CM16 where I also found they wont feed from a PMAG. My T4-18 Gen 3 definitely doesn't work with PMags.
  17. The Gen 3 magwell might be an M4 style but it still needs angle grinding to support an M4 magazine. Its got a spine at the back that pushes very hard onto the M4 magazines and the inside of the magwell where that spine is needs to be grinded down to get the magazines to go in normally. I can't really recommend the T4-18 gen 3, I just haven't found it to be a good gun at all.
  18. I personally have been pretty disappointed with my T418. Having had quite a few gearbox lockups myself, feeding issues and a really inconsistent hop up unit (its about 3 peoples widths at 30m, awful accuracy with hop on, excellent with it off) I kind of think the T4-18 gen 3 is an utter lemon of a gun. Its far less reliable and accurate than my combat machine. I suspect my mosfet will probably show issues if I get in a heavy gun fight at some point and I will probably send it back. Honestly I think the T4-18 gen 3 is a terrible gun, an unreliable piece of junk.
  19. You can also get a geiger rig bladder for it and use pressure to squirt water through the lower mesh mask. Has the advantage you can use it to wash stuff, share waters with others without having them suck on your nipple. Expensive solution but it works really well.
  20. The problem with using a torch is that the guys that know the site really well don't use it, it just gives away your position. The regulars complain bitterly at you if you use a torch. Personally I think its the only safe way to make your way around the site, the pot holes and such are quite hazardous so being able to see is kind of important, but unfortunately if you do it your eyes will never adjust enough to the gloom to see the targets sitting in the dark spots. I wouldn't recommend a torch for this site. Question for Charlie_ - Did you see them do chrono? Because it seems they just don't do it, and since my finger turned out to be fractured I think its pretty clear there are hot guns in Epsom bunker.
  21. I now use midcaps and while I have had feeding issues when they are full short loading them 10 rounds has fixed my problem and the feeding has been much more reliable than the hi caps. I had some luck with a flash mag but even so its just nice to know that the mag will feed until its empty, brings a lot more realism to the game and makes it much easier to fire rapidly and suppress than if you use hicaps. Despite the massive amount of additional gear midcaps take its the better option.
  22. Charger is great, will work with the batteries. I don't know about the connectors however, looking through the images I am not seeing the connector that the lipo's use in airsoft for the balance charging. You may need to do something about that to make it fit with your current leads. The gun itself just based on the length of RIS strikes me as a rear wired gun. Its not a crane stock so its really expecting one of the thin and short lipo's for the buffer tube, something like a 1600mah one. I am pretty certain the battery selected is too big for this gun.
  23. If you overpressure a high cap magazine then they do tend to break. It is definitely a common problem to have that happen. I have also had BBs get stuck in a G&G hicap, I don't think they are brilliantly reliable at feeding in general in my experience.
  24. My T418 is worse than the combat machine before it, without a doubt. For all its fancy tight bore barrel and better air seal the hop on it seems really inconsistent. I found when I turned the hop on to flat it made a dramatic difference to the groupings than with it off. For one it was about 12 moa pulled to the left, but only about 6 moa higher at 10m. But what was really strange is the grouping tripled in all directions. Without hop the T418 is much better accuracy than the combat machine, but with it on the spread immediately widens and at 10 metres I am no longer confident I could hit a head. The range is certainly improved by the hop but the accuracy is rubbish. I suspect if i can get the hop working as it should then the gun may very fire further, range is very much in the hop unit and a lot of accuracy can be lost there. TM makes great hop units, on both my G&G's I have had hop up issues.
  25. T418, fires 305 fps with hop on for flat trajectory with .25's BB's achieves about 30m of useful range. Spread is man sized at that range, and horrible past it. Its possible to overhop and get another 10m or so of actual range, but I am effectively lobbing BB's onto the target and its not accurate enough to be useful.
