What frustrated me hugely in the past was 99% of motors on a website would give the RPM but never the voltage.  Some older spec pdfs used 8.4v nimh.  In the end I actually purchased a chrono rotation thingy (the name escapes me now) so I could measure motors and find out the rpm.  I switched to the XT motors with the little plastic fan on due to the high number of failures with Rocket and ZCI motors when used with 11.1v.  Heat is indeed a killer.  The brushes on the XT contain a little more silver than normal apparently, not sure if that really affects anything.

Oh ask a Chinese motor factory that you want a "something TPA" motor, they won't have a clue what you're talking about 🙂

Do DE have vents in the motor grip base plate?

If the "31000" value refers to RPM then I think that's a bit too fast a motor.

DE say that the stock motor is 19k RPM (but not at what voltage), I'm running AK2M4 XT 22 TPA ones that are 22k RPM on 11.1v and get a very snappy trigger (due to the better magnets etc.), so 31k RPM is going waaaaay beyond what the stock RPM is.

Not when you're running power limits higher than most outdoor sites for CQB. Those power levels are unnecessary at close range. Also 1.3j with a 0.25g bb is 334fps, not 320

    Taken from their website
All guns on site will be chrono'd at a 0.25g, 1.3 joule max and a FPS of 320 tag will be put on your rifle.

Luke at Negative Airsoft has just published an upgrade video of an M906C

    He gives it big love

I think mine has definitely started to run at a lower RoF than it used to, really time to get a replacement motor in, and by the contents of this video I should crack open the gearbox to check the o-ring and piston etc are all ok

Plug, plug here as well; they are excellent springs.  They are consistent across batches and maintain their boinginess very well.

    Facts.

Better springs hold their strength for longer (like the nice Japanese steel ones that @ak2m4 is selling now under his XT brand - plug, plug) and yes, springs can lose their oomph over time especially if they're held in compression, but it really isn't noticeable over a day.

    Yep. Physics, innit.

So...you operated a machine incorrectly and it broke. Sound about right?

Ahoy and welcome. I'd avoid the sub-£100 CYMA CM5XX M4 series.  The internals are fine, but the plastic on that range is very cheap and toyish, and that's the part that you can't upgrade.

The G36C would be my choice from those three, I rate them as a platform. I think the CYMA G36s have better plastic than their cheapest M4s, but would welcome confirmation. The internals should be fine.

I'd echo that the battery and charger that come with it are technically functional, but weedy and unlikely to last a day.  I'd get straight onto lithium batteries rather than spending another penny on nimh technology.

I'd suggest something like 2 of these or equivalent (although I'd measure the supplied battery and ensure that these will fit in the stock). Note that the CYMA comes with a mini (aka small) Tamiya connector, and that means you'll need airsoft specific batteries (RC vehicle Tamiya battery connectors have different polarity).

And a SkyRC S65 charger from wherever you can find it cheapest.  This looks like a significant added cost, but it's really not worth cheaping out on chargers given the potential for things to go catastrophically wrong.

Oh, if you're not in a hurry, and intending to buy from bbguns4less, then put your order together, leave it in your basket for 24 hours and you may get sent a 5% discount code.

Another vote here for a stripped piston or gear.  You are going to have to open it up to find out.

    It shouldn't be the ARL.

Have you tried connecting up the motor out of the gearbox to see if it spins?  If you do this, make sure to hold it down firmly when you pull the trigger!  If it doesn't, try the same thing with a different motor; at least that will tell you whether it is the motor or something else.

Just another point: are the bent over ends of the cables where they connect onto the motor intact?  Sometimes, they can break where they bend, which can be hard to spot because the heat shrink holds them in shape.

It might be worth investing in those anti reversal latch holder doo dads - that fecking thing drove me to distraction.

I did ask the ec rep about it and she just laughed and said "no".  However you never really know with Chinese companies which are under very strict operating laws, I wouldn't be surprised.

    What's MOS btw?

To add to this, as we're all not 100% certain of Evolution's quality, the G&G Firehawk is a good example to use. The Firehawk has a 120mm inner barrel and it compensates for this by having an M130 spring in it, which is a hugely powerful spring for an AEG.

My son's Firehawk has shot over 100,000 BB's in its 2 1/2 year lifespan, the gearbox shell and gears are fine, but I'm seeing wear on the piston teeth now to the point where I really need to replace it.

Also he's now running a 200mm inner barrel and uses 0.28g BB's, with a suppressor and outer barrel extension to hide it, so the stumpy CQB nature of it is gone (and it's a better performing AEG for it).

It's the XT 22 TPA from AK2M4 that I went with, and have it in three AEG's now (I was after a high torque motor as most of the time I play semi only, don't need a crazy RPS, plus one AEG has an M105 spring and the other two are M130's).

It's snappier on semi, definitely a lot cooler than the stock Chaoli motor, but had zero effect on battery life (and the two with Falcon's are working just as they did, and another is using a GATE Titan with no problems). Also on my M908A I swapped the pinion gear on the new XT motor over to the one on the stock Chaoli motor as the gears weren't meshing 100% perfectly.

I've used the AX15 at 2 games so far and after the first woodland game I decided to swap out the hop unit and inner barrel as it struggled to lift 28's at distance. I popped onto AK2M4's website and purchased a couple of ZCI hop units and a couple of Omega Nub packs. I also fitted a 310mm Maple Leaf 6.02 inner barrel from HPA-UK. I used the ZCI hop rubber that comes with the hop units as it seems pretty good quality for sub 350 FPS.

I used it with the upgrades at the weekend at UCAP's Vendetta site and the changes made a massive difference to the range and accuracy. My KWA midcaps decided that they indeed did want to work with the AX15 so that was a bonus.

Probably going to swap the stock for either a BCM Gunfighter stock or a Magpul EPS-C because I think it will look better with either of them but can't decide on which one yet.

Overall opinion is that's it's a very good mid range AEG and can be inproved by some simple cheap upgrades.

Never heard this before.  I speak with the E&C and CYMA reps all the time.  Nothing suggests this since the designs / molds are quite different from model to model.

at 110mm you're going to struggle getting enough air for sufficient power, you'll have to compensate with a stronger spring leading to more stress on the gearbox.  it's not impossible of course but comes with risks.
