I have Bijan ones & they are the only ones I have found that stay still (well they do for me anyway)

The only time strong words were exchanged between me & someone else was the last skirmish I was with my son & we got split up. A few mins later I was told that my son had been shot in the face from close range & was hurt. So I broke from cover, slung my rifle over my shoulder & held my hands up to show I was not taking part in the game. I was walking around the area where my side were fighting from looking for my son, when three guys from the opposite team took aim at me, I saw them & waved my arms frantically to show I was unarmed & not taking part in the game, all three lowered their guns & carried on fighting. I was still walking up & down our area when someone opened up on me, at this point I've got both of my hands on my head & no weapon on show. I wave my hands more & carry on walking, he lights me up again on full auto. I shouted over to him that no matter how many times he hits me I'm still out of the game, he shouts back that I'm not calling my hits......I'm walking with my hands on my head with my gun slung openly over my shoulder......How else can I clearly desplay that I'm not playing? It turns out my son was ok & after I went back to the safe zone I explained the situation to the lad who appologised for his agressive attitude & we shook hands. How do I handle agressive attitudes ? I just laugh it off. it's only a game & is supposed to be fun. Also I'm an ex boxer so dont get intimidated easily lol

My loadout is a based on my budget. went to my local surplus shop got MTP trousers & Ubacs for next to nowt. Boots the same, I wear Bijan knee pads in DPM (Because they are the only ones I found down slip down) DPM Boonie, OD green battle belt & Pouches (Because they were cheap) it all works & I feel comfortable with it on. Gone is the RICAS & MICH helmet modern soldier look as it was too heavy & cumbersome for me......I started over complicated & bought the stuff because I thought it looked cool......Now I dont hardly wear half of the stuff I origionally bought. I dont even bother with my pistol now, (it was never taken out of its holster during skirmishes anyway). Now its trousers, ubacs, mags & primary. Nothing else worth carrying for me. Everyone is differant but I have found that faffy kits is just a waste of time & effort.

I would never wear it. I had to in the kadets & it was horrible stuff. It knacks your skin & smells disgusting. Now I wear goggles & a mask so there is litterally no point anyway

Whats the worst experience with 'Cod Softers'
Fumps replied to Lord_Metile's topic in General Discussion
Its great to read about peoples first airsoft experiences. As I'm still new I'm really crap lol, I am still wondering where people are enjoying at just before I get hit. My first skirmish was a bit of a nightmare, I brought & was wearing way too much kit....so was sweating like a sumo wrestlers gusset I had no idea what was going on & being hit from all directions. The Kiss principle has now taken hold of my load out & i've trimmed down my kit significantly since then. And I'm also learning the skills to be more useful -

I think the sport is based on fun, sometimes people take it too far but I just remind myself that we are all grown ups (Well most) who go out & play soldiers. If you cant see the comedy in that then I think deep down your dead inside. I'm still new to the sport & my son is just old enough to go, he watches more experienced players & takes orders from others pretty well, we both do what we can & sometimes take shots for the team......we are there for fun at the end of the day & if we ever forget that then I think it would be time to quit playing. In regards to Cod-softers, I don't have an issue with them. They are going out for the day, making friends & being sociable is always better than sitting in their rooms playing Xbox all day & thinking they are great. like others have said, people have to start somewhere, why not COD/Battlefield ? -
Try a net .....or a braced box with an I-phone as bait

38 will be 39 on my birthday

What & kill people ? The way I see it, you get to shoot people & have a laugh about it afterwards, In real life there is a chance you could die a million nasty ways......why spoil the fun of gun play with the death thing lol

She just hates military clothes & what they represent. She once fired my LR300 & just put it down with a worried look on her face, she hates violence in any way. As I used to box i dont really have a problem with it. but face mask's & military uniforms makes her uneasy
-
My other half hates guns of any kind but appreciates that they are essentially toys, like above we go both mountain biking & she knows that Airsoft is much cheaper so she's happy me & my son have something to do together. Although she thinks our loadouts are scary and hates to see us in them lol
-
Hi guys Yes I love the LR300 to bits, Its as beast. indeed the short sight position feels good to me, I'm no expert I just go with what I find is right for me. I have tried different positions but i ended up back to what you see there.

Me at Matlock And me being defended by my son when my goggles have fogged up.....annoying when things are getting hot.

It cost more than £45 for paint balling,My son was costing close to £70 for the day (When you add ammo, lunch, travel cost etc) I can take me & my son out doing airsoft for £50, that covers both of us for the day & you get lunch included. At one point my son was doing Tae-Kwon-Do which was £50 a month (Not including pads, uniform & belts). I knew one dad who's son was doing that & BJJ which was another £60 on top of that (So he was paying £110 a month & he had two sons). I know for a fact parents would pay £45 for the day no worries at all. Coming back to airsoft for a moment My son's loadout, with an Ares M4 cost less than £200. I think that's a bargain, considering I'm a recent convert from mountain biking where my gear system cost me £450 & my wheels cost close to £900.....my bike frame is worth over £1000, then you have kit to wear etc.....on mountain biking over the space of 3 years I spent over £4000 (and I could still be adding to it now if I have not realised what I was doing), also adding travel cost's to go to bike centres all over the country (Wales, Scotland etc)......So I really don't see airsoft as expensive. I think you'd be surprised, If I had the know how & a business brain I'd definitely consider setting something up on a Saturday afternoon.

the above is why I think rentals are a great way of getting into airsoft. I'm still surprised there are not any events for kids (10-12 years old) to play in low fps games dotted around the country. My son was playing paintball & coming home with some savage bruises (he was proud of them). the cost for his day was ridiculous but I paid it because he loved doing it. Now we have airsoft to do together it's taken things to a whole new level, it's a sport he can take part in where his age & his height (He's a short arse) makes little difference. for instance I've seen him in gun battles with grown adults & he has got the better of them. He really looks forward to going & loves being treat like everyones little brother. Airsoft is a great community & I'm so happy I found it

That Vid is ace

Similar situation to me, my son had been to paintball a few times & saw people coming in from an airsoft skirmish & thought it looked much cooler that Paintball. he started asking me for a BB gun so I started looking into the legality of the whole thing.....found the community & decided to have a blast myself......we now do it once a month as a father & son thing. It's a good escape from being a grown up for a day.
-
I agree with the statements above, I'm still new-ish to the scene & I did what you are thinking of doing, I got my rifle and my first rifle & side arm together ......I have been to a few skirmishes & am selling my glock....total waste of money I have never fired it in anger & cant see the point of carrying it. Follow the advice above, spend the extra cash on a good solid rifle & let others bugger about with GBB.....it's a pain in the arse carrying the extra stuff involved in it

I can personally vouch for the guys at Matlock Combat Games they are a belting bunch of guys. If the woodland site is anything to go by the Gaol will be amazing, but as it's still a new site things will improve as they put a lot of thought into their days. If anyone is near by to this place I strongly suggest you jump on board, it's just a shame I'm a bit too far away as I'd be all over it

Cheers guys. Another even more stupid question: If your standard airsoft lipo is reverse to a rc std lead ( the battery being red lead to circle & black to square sides of the connector, the charging lead being the opposite) Is it better to change the leads over in the connector or can you simply switch over the banana leads that go into your charger ? I'm not going to try the second option but the red & black wires look the same to me just different sleeves. May be a really stupid question but I'm new to electrical stuff like this.
-
Hi mate, yes we have it sorted. He works for an rc car shop & recently have had a few peeps with airsoft batteries that were wired in reverse for some reason. He was making sure & not assuming anything as I'm lost with this kind of thing

Yeh that's what I'm thinking, we are communicating via text as I'm at work. May have to send him a PIC.
