Cool I hate being lonely I'm the same, buy something thats well built to start with & let it do its job. The hobby is a large avenue with lots of differant aspects, I noticed that on my first skirmish. Some are really into kit & loadouts, some are really into their rif's and love to tinker with them (that includes snipers, M4 modding & also the Gucci pistol collectors). Then there are the reinacters who go for various era's. It's a big world with plenty of space for everyone. I just go for the fun of playing & banter. I will never be a warrior leet operator as my mrs wants me home before tea time I

I am the only freak here then. My LR-300 is totally stock apart from a foregrip which I put on because I was holding the mag & my left hand natrually just seem to sit there when I was firing. I know nothing about guns, upgrades etc so I dont mess with things I dont fully understand.

Yeh it stings like a bitch when three guys are lighting you up at the same time......oooo! Welcome to the sport mate

I'm never a fan of GBB. I once snook up on three guys took out my WE Glock 23 pulled the trigger........nothing but a fizzing noise & me getting my arse kicked. I sold my pistol after that.

Aww I'm glad someone else has said they dont know Arma. I'm another who's never heard of it

Its great going to a skirmish & seeing how well your loadout performs. I have mine to a point where I only have to do minor tweaks which is great. The first time I went I realised that all my pouches were set out wrong, certain things were over tight & I was carrying way too much stuff. you will learn everytime you go, not just playing but about your kit too. glad you had fun mate

I hate Gherkin's

I think hating a first person game is as logical as hating a hair do.....it achieves nothing really. People will always be drawn towards dangerous things, war, fighting and extreme situations. I'm pretty much in the minority, I dislike guns but do get a buzz from airsoft. I often get funny looks when I say to people that I know nothing about the military, never wanted to join nor do I know hardly anything about guns. Personally I like anything that brings people together to have a good time.

You will in time find your own way & the kit you prefer. Some prefer the clear lenses & some like mesh. I tried & failed to get some clear goggles that didnt fog up, I tried almost every mix of goggles, mods & weird potions but could never make them work. In the end I went with some "Mako" goggles from Hero shark never looked back, I personally cant recommend them enough they have taken a few head on hits & never even got a scratch.

What kind of jobs do you guys have to support airsoft? :)

I never went to uni as I was spawned into a working class family where higher education was never a consideration.I started as a apprentice trained painter & decorator. but after working for several dodgey tradesmen I decided to throw in the towel with the trades. I am now a buyer for an industrial adhesives manufacturer, my main area is the engineering department, so machine parts to keep the 24hr production lines going at full capcity. So without any education I have worked mainly in Chemistry & now engineering. All you need is a good attitude & the impulse to work hard in life. University is a good idea if you know what you want to do, the chemistist I work with for instance are on double what I earn & do half as much work. -
The only knee pads I've found is the Bijan style ones.....I was lucky enough to land a pair on ebay.....rare but bloody great if you can find them

Personally if it was hammering it down, I wouldnt bother going. I'm not there to pretend that I'm a soldier, I'm just there to play airsoft. I wouldnt pay £50 and get soaked all day. If it was light rain fair enough but I've got a full time job that doesnt pay sick pay, so if i get ill I'm buggered. The mortgage comes first in my life i'm sorry to say.

ho yeh definately agree. Not all kids try to play the game right. I think it's down to their personalities. For instance my nephew keeps asking for me to take him, but I wont because I know he wont play the game as he should & to be honest he's a bit annoying so I keep making excuses. Some kids are a bit more (erm how can I say this ?) together than others, I always keep an eye on my son but he gets by on his own, I know my nephew would need constant attention and that would ruin my own days skirmishing He would be one of "them annoying kids" who just wouldnt be good there.

I'm not that mature though. I'm 38 but act 10. I'm often seen skipping into battle singing the Sponge Bob square pants themetune firing at targets......My battle cry is "OOO Betty" ! My son is often heard shouting "Bloody Nora" when under heavy fire. It's all about the fun people

Yeh I often see the shape/sillouette rule being broken during games. no matter what camo your wearing wont make a blind bit of notice if your 6 foot tall with light shining from behind you.
-
Erm yeh ......I didnt read it right the first time, bloody hell !

Yeh my battle belt & plate carrier is OD green. I was considering adding DPM pouches to keep the design. At first I was thinking of going for a modern soldier look, now all I want is stuff that works for me. I suppose I'm now looking a bit like a mercenary.....which is by accident & all good I suppose like people say, it's down to what you want from a loadout.

I've just dropped the MTP/Multicam to go for OD green/DPM mix. Firstly because I play woodland & it seems to work better in the shadows (Which is where I usually skulk before being hit), DPM is cheaper and MTP is what everyone else is wearing. This weekend I will be full DPM/OD green for the first time. My new loadout was even cheaper than the MTP which I'm happy with. A hobby to me is not a lifestyle it's just fun so the less I can spend on it the better.

Hi mate Exactley the same reason I got into airsoft. now we have a lads days out once a month. He looks forward to it now every month, on his first go the lads all dubbed him the Ewok and he now has his own velcro patches all saying Ewok on them. Your boy sounds simular to my lad, if he uses his head & shows willing, he wont have any issues mate. As I say my son loves it & because it's our thing, we love doing it together, as a matter of fact, now he's my wingman & I couldnt imagine doing arisoft without him. My other half has actually banned us talking about it at the dinner table because she feels left out & says things like "No gun talk.....eat your food" lol
-
My son comes with me, he's 4'4" and just old enough to take part. He's always in the front line of any fight. If I loose him, I just listen for the worst of the fighting & he's usually there. The other older guys always help him & do offer advice which I always takes on board. when people ask me "Should we go easy on him?" I always reply "No, if you get a chance to, hammer him" he wouldnt hesitate to shoot so treat him the same. Last time we were down, he got shot in the head for three feet away & he was well chuffed that he has a scar to show his mates at school. As long as kids have the right direction & play well I could not care less how old they are, kids are tougher than we give them credit for.

I'm off to Matlock combat games this weekend with my son. will be fun as always
-
Black Death's loadout looks ace. I play woodland so I do camo (now DPM) but if I was playing CQB i'd follow his example & go for some mad combinations
-
Ya know the temptation is there but knowing my luck mine would end up being stopped by every government agency who would add various charges until it would be more expensive than it was worth. Glad you got a good deal matey

I've just now switched my loadout to basic as you can go. DPM trousers OD green top Boots Belt with 4 mags sling black mesh mask Mesh glasses DPM boonie hat Oakley gloves. May sell off all my MTP stuff as I have a feeling I wont need them in woodland anymore.
