You'd be better off asking your local Airsoft site if you can go out in the game area before or after play has finished so you can do whatever you're trying to do in the safety of a place where replicas aren't in potential view of people that could and would call the plod on you. For context - Ive been on private land doing pest control and had someone call the police because they saw me with a gun. Once I spoke to police to say why I was there and showed them that I had permission to be there all was good but its an entirely different scenario to you wanting to take a few snaps with a replica which chances are look nothing like what would be used for pest control and being dressed like a "detective" would definitely raise more than a few eyebrows! Unless you're a reputable production company this would never happen and even if it did would cost an arm and a leg.

Yeah I was at the game as well, the base commander supposedly threw the book at landmark or whatever they are called that do the leasing of MOD sites. People were specifically told that video etc was prohibited, as usual the band of social media whores like mattthemusketeer completely ignored that then the ban hammer by the MOD came down pretty swiftly (wasn't just the video that bought that on as the sight should never have been let out but the videos didn't help matters) I was having a mindless scroll last night and noticed two videos come up as sponsored, was intrigued out of sheer boredom what the spunktrumpet is up to currently and to no surprise first video was at Phoenix where he decided that its a "headshot only game" cue taking numerous shots at people who he had full view of (or so the perspective shows) and takes multiple head shots as per his own twisted "mission" for the game. Second one irked me the most as it involved someone who clearly English isn't their first language, doesn't take much listening to assess that ol'donkey punch is making the most of this for his video (regardless of the guy implying he will be taking licking cumstain to court) - the comments on the video are absolutely shocking, numerous people ripping the shit out of the poor guy which in my opinion boils down to downright racism in some instances. While I don't mind the fact that various platforms show Airsoft in a good light and bring new and interesting people to the hobby, this type of shit just makes me want to play less than I already do. Yes you can argue you'll find arseholes in every sport but as a community we should be doing more to shut this sort of shit down.

Yeah some are narrower/wider than others which is why I have tried a lot of different styles before buying, the gortex issue I just top up with an off the shelf spray on or wash in water repellent. I would never personally want 100% waterproof as you'd end up with not only feet that smell like a bin but also not great for general hygiene either if not washed out/looked after.

Cant go wrong with Salomons. I buy from sports direct/decathlon as they normally always have a sale on - when they do I pick up at least two pairs which 9 times out of 10 equates to the normal price of one pair. Below are what I wear which are the Salomon forces but I use them for all out doors stuff not just airsoft so were a worth while purchase and the only difference being is that mine have the speed lace system. Echoing the above always try them on and make sure you buy to fit, I know that sounds stupid but buying off size will for the most part end up with either an uncomfortable wear or blisters/ankle problems from slipping. If you are on a set budget I would look at Karrimor, Altberg, Addidas or even Regatta. My suggestion would be to stay away from anything "surplus" military as for the most part the are generally heavy and clunky but do lend themselves to being more weather proof than your run of the mill off the self brand. "walking boots" generally come in a trainer-esk material these days and have differing levels of weather proofing but are a hell of a lot more comfortable than the leather boots I have seen some wearing while still offering ankle support from the high winged sides. Boots are another thing that a large number of people will throw you suggestions of what to wear but as long as they offer ankle support and fit generally you cant go wrong and again the best advice is to go to a local outdoor shop and try things on.

From what I gather, sites are also banning if they are of the same company or they are on friendly terms with another site (I do know for a fact that a small number of sites speak to each other about various issues, and why not they are all in the same business and working together does have its advantages in some aspects). Not really all that different from my time working in pubs, if one local banned someone chances are the rest would ban you based on the behavior in previous pubs even before you've set foot through the door. I guess the onus then lays with that site in particular who are well within their rights to refuse service to any potential customer on whatever grounds they see fit.

Same happened at Copehill down last time I was there (a good few years ago now) everyone was specifically told that certain area's of the site were not to be filmed, all camera footage had to be provided back to event organiser for vetting and any footage that included before mentioned areas would be scrapped. Everyone was fine with this and the majority just said "you know what I wont bother filming anything" One lad decided to not hand in his memory cards (all of which would have been properly identified and handed back in due course) got quite the rude awakening when he uploaded those videos to YouTube. The MOD also got a lot of "evidence" for goings on at Stanta which led to some of the shitstorm that flew airsofts way when the MOD saw it (not all of that was video but also the state the site was left in). Me personally - I don't have any issues with people filming whatever they want (providing its within the limits of the site - MOD rules etc) however when it comes to editing videos to make people out to be something they're not that's when I have an issue. Its quite easy to put hit markers over videos where you cant quite make out (because of various factors) if someone has been hit or not and then calling that person a cheater is bullshit. Secondly mocking some poor person by absolutely pulverizing them all for the internet kudos and laughs (AIRSOFT PRO ABSOLUTELY DESTROYS KID WITH BRIGHT GREEN GUN) is also bullshit and in my opinion and not only shows people the wrong way to play (and then encouraging others to play that way) but also shows absolute lack of moral compass and all for what, being famous on the webs for playing airsoft? The whole Trump-esk whinging I see online when people get called out for shit behavior touting "woke/cancel culture" is also a load of horse shit, don't act like a dick and you wont get called out for being a dick. Its as simple as that.

I do this but for another reason - my play style is more on the sneaky sneaky side of things so I tape up on the areas where metal hits metal so its dampens the sound if I am moving about. All my toys get treated as the majority of my RS stuff, its there to do a job. As long as I clean it and look after it and performance doesn't suffer I don't get too precious about it.

Changing to 30rnd mags IMO from 120+ is more about you as a player, if you feel that 700+ is more than enough and you are finishing games with plenty of ammo left then challenge yourself to switch up your play style. I quite often flit between what capacity I have on a given day and especially depending on event. Its especially handy if an event stipulates an ammo restriction that you can quite quickly change your mags to that capacity. If you are just getting a feel for it, like others have said - take a speed loader into the field with you and gauge how that game has played and how you have used your ammo (odin's are extremely helpful in these circumstances) you may find that if your local skirmish tends to do a lot of attack and defend games and you are in an Alamo situation 9 times out of 10 then maybe 30rnd mags wont work for you.

Guntrader (while having a data breach mid lockdowns) is still pretty functional in terms of sales, I actually bought a new Mossberg last year and bar the seller taking a while to sort out transfer to my local RFD it was all pretty simple but still more loops to jump through than in the US where you can literally sell via craigslist - not sure if you can still sell firearms on eBay in the US though?

As I say could have just been unlucky but it was enough to put me off buying anymore of their stuff when other repro brands at the time were doing RS repro stuff to a better standard or was cheap enough (even compared to the WAS equivalent) that when and if it did fall apart fixing it wasnt so much of an annoyance. I had one WAS plate carrier that literally just disintegrated in terms of stitching.

Experience - when I first started playing everyone was a WAS fanboy. I used a fair bit of their kit and it just doesn't cut the mustard (literally some bits the stitching fell apart in a matter of weeks - lemon, possibly) compared to other brands and "knock off's" for instance anything made by TMC is a fairly good trade off between repro and RS, same with Crye combat clothing - JK army do a pretty good job (all personal opinion obviously)
