Has someone changed the hop unit? The original is a two part unit that should come apart when you split the receiver. If it's the original receiver but an aftermarket, one piece hop unit then the hop unit itself may be getting stuck as the receiver has a different profile.
ESS still make the Turbofan Profile model but they seem to be moving towards a passive anti-fog solution. Probably down to weight/battery availability at a guess? See if they're at DSEI and ask?
They've pretty much all gone online!
We had a surprising lack of surplus stores where I grew up given that it was up the road from Sandhurst and Aldershot. HM Supplies was in the town (Camberley) and there was always a good stall at the weekly market at Blackbushe but otherwise you were pretty much stuck with high end military tailors or places flogging new Kombat UK gear!
Honestly - don't waste your time. Unless your inner barrel is flapping about like a dick in a shirtsleeve, wrapping anything around it to stabilise it is a bit pointless unless you're looking to make it into a DMR in which case there's plenty of other things to try first.
Yes...and no. All springs will lose power over time because their very nature makes it happen. Bad springs just lose power more quickly. The trick is using a spring that degrades at an acceptable rate.
It's £25, make an educated guess.
Good optics cost money, that said airsoft guns are not so accurate that bad parallax actually makes much of a difference. It can be annoying but that's about it.
I have a couple of LPVOs with red dot (Docter type) sights on. If you have the LPVO zoomed to anything other than x1 then the red dot does allow for more situational awareness if you're shooting at something up close. Mine sit on top of the optic though. I do also have an SR-25k with angled iron sights but that is purely for looks. Canting an airsoft gun is a really good way of not actually hitting what you're aiming at!
I used to use fineline tape or Tamiya model tape to stope edge bleed. That said, I was using an airbrush and lower pressures than a rattle can will achieve. Frog tape is fine for decorating but for crisp lines on hard surfaces with very thing paints (like aerosols) they're too crepey and the thickness of the tape itself leaves an upstanding edge you have to sand back.

You don't need that much space, just be creative!
As MK18s go, these are pretty decent: https://jdairsoft.net/primary/assault/0/daniel-defense-mk18-sa-e19-edge-carbine-chaos-bronze
My neighbour has one and it's performing quite nicely.
Call yourself an airsofter? Where's your sense of adventure? 😁
That said, I've not used either of those specific guns but generally the Ares seems to be the one gun they make that people don't absolutely hate working on. The Specna should be fine too (I have an older SA-A03).
As others have said if you want a REALLY short thing then have a look at the Firehawk/ARP etc from G&G but it all depends on what your budget is.
Personally I'd go for a MK18 style but that's just my passionate hatred for anything with a 2" barrel (other than the MP5k of course). The other option to make transport easier would be to split the upper and lower for transport which will immediately make the whole thing shorter and easier to carry.
Suffice to say that nothing in this thread has persuaded me to move away from a butt load of paper pyro. Apart from anything else I do so love showing myself up as the arthritic mess I am by attempting to yeet a bang at the enemy only for it to fall pathetically short and blow me up instead. Good times.
