  1. Dude. Seriously, if this is your first gun why buy something that you think is going to need messing about with straight away?
  2. If you want a metal one and can stretch a bit on the budget, try out the SOCOM Gear M9A1. It's based on the WE one but with some changes (such as an adjustable hop for starters). I like mine! They also come in black!
  3. Re: the SCAR-L consider the G&G one. Definitely not the Ares one though, not heard anything good about them.
  4. Assuming of course that 350 isn't over your sites limit
  5. Batteries I would suggest www.componentshop.co.uk As for the furniture it's tricky to know what you consider "better" or "nicer" as they're pretty subjective, you could look at the various Magpul style parts though (be aware though that not all their parts are designed to fit an AEG - some are GBB specific). UK based I would suggest Fire Support, Air-Lab, AK2M4, Helmet World, Bullseye Country Sport for parts. Something to remember though is that SHS and Lonex aren't necessarily "dirt cheap" but they're certainly cheaper than some manufacturers (Siegetek for example). If you buy cheap parts don't expect them to last very long. SHS do produce gearbox upgrade kits that will be cheaper than buying parts individually but not many people stock them. Also SHS are notoriously hit and miss when it comes to production schedules! If your gearbox is already shimmed to the point that it's quiet and smooth be prepared for the fact that it will no longer be perfectly shimmed if you change the gears. Also - you've still not told us what your current FPS is and what FPS you're trying to achieve.
  6. Only if something either breaks or doesn't meet the demands on it. There's very few people I know that would start upgrading things for the sake of it. If your gearbox is "excellent" and you are having no issues with it my personal advice would be leave it the hell alone! The only reason I started down the dark and tortuous route of upgardes was because mine was only firing at 210fps and could barely hit a target 10m away!
  7. Hey dude, what is your FPS now and what makes you feel the gun is unreliable? With all the changes you say you want to make you may as well either replace the entire gearbox or just go buy a new gun! Lonex gearbox (front wired - cant remember which way round you said your is) http://www.helmetworld.co.uk/airsoft-aeg-lonex-8mm-full-gearbox-m4-v2-version-2-chromium-plated-asg-front-wir-30306-p.asp
  8. If you're replacing ALL of that why not just buy a new gearbox?
  9. Drop leg holsters need to be worn properly to not wobble about. ie NOT round your knees and tight enough to grip your leg properly. Also - the cheap "universal" style ones can be a bit "one size fits nothing".
  10. My TM SPAS 12 was about £50 when I bought it, new just after it was launched. My old TM NBB Desert Eagle was a similar price too IIRC... God, I'm old...
  11. RSOV.com are good but no free shipping.
  12. Although you could very easily end up with a knackered motor instead.
  13. Can anyone recommend a decent capacity 7.4v LiPo that'll fit in a PEQ15 style battery box?

£4 well spent to measure awkward stuff

Cheers ft link, Duck. I've been looking for one of those cheap.

  14. It's funny, I'm a big fan of the US and all it stands for but as a Brit it just seems rather ironic to wish them well today. It's like "Happy You Beat Us" Day or "Happy we're not letting you tax us into subjugation Day". Seriously don't get me wrong, I love America (I got married at Disney World ferrchrissakes) but Independence Day is them sticking two fingers up at us and the rest of the countries that kicked them out in the first place really. And quite right too.
  15. Dunno. The front pin hole looks a bit rounded out and the upper rear where the back end of the upper receiver sits looks quite rough. Still....it's your money
  16. Maybe. Looks pretty rough for the price though.
  17. If the screw is still in there, you'd be better off drilling out the screw and then getting a new release lever.
  18. Not seen one like that before! Pull it out and stretch it a bit. Use a pair of fine nose pliers to pull it.
  19. I had this happen - if you get some 2.5mm spade connectors for crimping (with the red plastic ferrule on) you can crimp them on then remove the plastic with a pair of cutters. Sleeve them over with some heatshrink and Bob's your uncle.
  20. The bolt cover plate is mostly aesthetic, it does keep the crap out of your hop though so if yo're going to run without it, keep an eye on the hop and make sure it doesn't get all cruddy. Not sure what you mean with the spring to be honest (my M4 doesn't have anything like this). I use locking pins that have a screw on cap on the opposite end to the head of the pin. Works fine - no spring, nothing. http://www.fire-support.co.uk/product/guarder-m-16-enhanced-steel-retainer-pins-m4-m16
  21. If you can't find the connectors you want from Farnell then they probably don't make them. That said, an RC spares shop might be a better bet. Also - go find your local Maplins. Which connectors are you looking to replace? The motor ones?
  22. Some guns have O rings placed along the barrel to centre it. These usually end up getting pushed up to the front end of the hop up unit as you put the barrel in.
  23. I think it's a simple fix, whether or not you think it is may well be a different matter! If the bolt cover plat is popping out when you pull it back then I am wondering if it's slightly bent out of shape? They're incredibly flimsy things. Also - who put the yellow tape in there and why? The bolt cover just doesn't look like it's in quite right. As you pull it back it looks like it's popping out of the little rail along the side of the receiver. Does it only do this when you try and do it with the gun apart? It's frustrating because it probably is a really simple fix but without getting my hands on it I just can't really tell exactly what's going on. Sorry.
  24. Why do you want to build your own MOSFET? Also - CPC won't sell 3" bits of wire, you'll have to buy a whole reel. Personally I'd advise you to buy an off the shelf MOSFET which is tested and proven in the market. Gate, Burst Wizard etc all make decent hardware for not much money.
  25. If the site had called the Police it would still only be up to the individual concerned as to whether or not he wanted to press charges. Personally I think it would be somewhat of an overreaction if the site called in the Police unless some serious level of harm had been done.
