Mm, with some ex Mauser weapon designers that were around in germany in 1949.. 😂 Just messing with Spoons obviously, just a choice combo of company + phrase, I think we can safely say HK now is fine.
I know, was tongue in cheek here too!
I like how they started off doing pushbikes and sewing machines and stuff and then just went "fuck it, let's make guns again!"

Slight issue with the mag venting unexpectedly from time to time so I'll have to look into that (assuming it wasn't just the cold).
Almost certainly the cold.

That's why I criticised the security. The security at Birmingham ComicCon were oblivious to everything except swords compared to those at London ComicCon who actually did check for prohibited items.
Fair enough, I've only ever been to the London one and the security are pretty switched on at ExCel.

Seems there are some types of gun props you ARE allowed:
QuotePlease take care when outside or when transporting any form of firearm prop.
Regardless of how realistic it looks, ensure it is completely hidden while travelling and be aware of your surroundings, attire, and the appearance of your props to bystanders when outside. Don’t assume a costume reassures people that the weapon is a prop.
False alarms waste police resources and risk creating stricter rules and laws.
- Unrealistic and toy guns such as those sourced from modern children's programming (made of brightly coloured plastics, with flashing lights and stickers), or that are clearly science fiction based (phasers, plasma guns, blasters) are permitted; maximum size is 150cm.
- Prop versions of antiquated muzzle loading guns such as flintlock pistols & blunderbuss made from lighter materials (not metal or hard wood) are similarly allowed.
- Airsoft guns, BB guns, deactivated guns, paintball guns, metal gun props, or props built using these or parts of these as a base are not permitted.
- Other Realistic imitation firearm props (excluding airsoft guns, BB guns, deactivated guns, paintball guns and metal gun props) made of lightweight materials are permitted with a brightly coloured tip on the end of the muzzle of the gun which is clearly visible from most angles OR if they have significantly brightly coloured portion. In the case of a brightly coloured tip, it does not have to be permanently fixed to the item and can be removed for photographs if fitted back in place immediately afterwards.
- Caps, darts, incendiaries and any ammunition that can be fired are not allowed. Any water pistols or similar should be empty of any liquids and not filled while on the event site. Compressed air chambers and batteries for weapons are similarly not permitted.
- Realistic replica rocket and missile launchers, mortars, and other anti-aircraft or artillery props are not allowed due to the venue’s proximity to an airport.
But not airsoft.

According to MCM's own website airsoft guns are banned from all their events so...

Maybe the local security haven't been kept in the loop.

It says as much about ComicCon's piss-poor security in a (paid) public event as the people doing it but there were cosplayers yesterday at the NEC in open carry with airsoft guns.
One numpty in one of the foyers (open to everyone without paying) had an MP7 openly hanging from his chest and past the "paywall" was a bloke dressed up as an NPC soldier from Metal Gear Solid with a FAMAS. He openly said he bought it in two-tone and sprayed it black but left an orange tip on the muzzle. 🤦♂️
I noticed at least a couple other cosplayers with M4s and another with an MP5K.
Predictably, responsible players would be blamed for the actions of idiots who don't play airsoft or that minority of players who have some sort of death wish.
If only there was some kind of alternative way for Cosplayers to cover themselves...

Why is everything always listed as "never used" or "used a couple times". Apparently nobody ever skrims their kit anymoreI currently have four guns I've never skirmished (yet) and loads more bits and knick knacks that I've bought because they seemed like a good idea, tried once or twice and then consigned to the drawer of doom (final resting place of three different flip to side magnifiers for example).

You mean like the MP9, right?

I'm with you on this. I can see 80% of these things being HPA converted and fitted with a drum mag.

If I wanted to give an airsoft pistol to one of my children - all of whom are middle aged adults by the way - none of whom have ever skirmished, would this be completely legal?
I emphasise this would be a gift and not a sale.
In the unlikely event that the gun eventually ended up in the hands of somebody unkown to me, who used it irresponsibly eg. showed it in public, would I as the original owner be liable?
Totally fine.

Even those little drones draw some mighty amps at fully throttle as they whizz about.
You'll see 70C or even 100C packs being used. There's some tests online you can Google.
I use xt connectors, because they are better so I don't need to repurpose anything, Nuprol do some life packs, I have one and it's fine.
I have no doubt that they draw high currents, I was more suggesting that the load is less peaky.

I'm leaning towards 12.8v Life packs if they will fit, because they are so forgiving in use, last a really long time and supply good current, the voltage not being as high as the 12.8v 4 cells would give you because as we have seen in tis thread, voltage drops quickly and stays at a level for a good while before the battery is exhausted. However, often there isn't enough room for such luxuries.
Where are you finding decent LiFe stick packs? They were all the rage for airsoft a few years back but most places only seem to have one or two choices these days (or are you repurposing RC packs?)

My go-to? A Platatac Peacekeeper MK1.
Can carry 6 7.62 mags or 9 5.56 ones plus pyro, water, the whole 9 yards. Not cheap though.
Also - you haven't told us what you use, what sort of games you play etc.

Motors don't work in C, it's dimensionless, they work in Amps and that would be a much better way.
Like quoting TPA for example instead of RPM. And quote motor torque not high low etc. All this sort of thing muddies the water if you want to compare things.
Most of Titans blurb is meaningless, some is just wrong. Even the bits that are in fact true are also true comparing lipos.
Unfortunately most airsofters wouldn't know a Newton-metre if it stole all their apples.
While motors don't work in C they do respond differently when the supply current is governing their performance; if a battery can't supply enough current quickly enough then performance will suffer in an AEG because that initial spin up is where the motor will spend a lot of its time. It's less relevant in things like drones or RC planes because once you get the rotor spinning and you've overcome that moment of inertia then the motor can settle into a fairly consistent running current. Once you reach that "steady" state then the capacity calculations etc make more sense because your load behaves more like the graphs that battery manufacturers like to throw around. Even when you run an AEG in constant full auto, the load is never stable. Every cycle the gears have to compress the spring and then it releases so the load comes off the motor. The current draw is never smooth and the battery's ability to deliver a lot of current quickly becomes more important than the mAh rating as long as it is sufficiently high.

I think if they used better cells you'd see better results.
High capacity doesn't automatically transfer to good current capabilities
Undoubtedly, though I do question their marketing spiel that a low C, high capacity battery is equivalent to a smaller high C battery in this application.
Action Hobbies Boneyard - possible buyer's remorse ;)
