  1. Talks about being imaginative... Insults people using the 'they look like cod' argument...
  2. If you're after some input this'd be mine. The vest looks like Italian Vegetato, certainly not anything US Army related but then airsoft retailers have a bad habit of mis-labeling stuff. MOLLE (or PALS to be more accurate) isn't complicated or expensive, check out the Warrior stuff and BULLE gear on UK Tactical and Flecktarn.co.uk respectively. You can get a basic chest rig for not much money, indeed often less money then some of the f*****g absurd prices that some airsoft shops charge for poorly made copies of obsolete designs of load-bearing gear items. That DPM shirt is some weird looking knock off stuff, get yourself on ebay and buy surplus if you want anything brit issue, it's comparatively cheap and mostly good quality (certainly CS95 stuff is, most of the new PCS cut stuff wont be as hardy overall). Not sure what that smock is but they're good for carrying lots of stuff like food and lights and navigation/survial gear and not particularly useful for your average sunday game of running about in the woods, you'll hardly ever see anyone wear one; 100% not appropriate for indoor CQB too. Get yourself a decent combat shirt/UBACS, particularly when the summer comes around you'll soon understand the desire for having the absolute minimum of material under your rig; the current PCS/MTP issued UBACS is IMO the best option for airsoft (including all the really expensive mega gucci s**t). Not sure there is such a thing as a TM VSR 'copy' that uses gas, but hopefully someone who's more knowledgeable on bolt guns that me can comment on that. Ghillies are damn hot so if you're gonna go the 'sniper' route just be aware of its' limitations, it's a very specific niche in an airsoft game. Personally I'd dump a ton of stuff off that M16 cause it looks damn heavy. 40mm shells aren't very common because fun as they are, the usefulness vs weight ratio isn't good overall; some folks like 'em but you don't see them all that often for a reason. You might have the inclination to drape all sorts of lights and lasers on that forend, but I'd advise against it. I've been there, done that, so have many other people.. just... skip that step, save yourself the time and effort, you'll most likely realise the problems with it soon enough. I mean heck if you're a massive body builder then maybe it'll feel like nothing in your hands, but otherwise put as little as possible on the forend of your guns. I'd recommnd dropping the UGL, fitting a low-profile gas block and putting on some nice plastic handguards, your arms will thank you greatly after a few hours. Again if you've skirmished this already then just ignore me, but if you haven't.. well give it a go and you'll probably see what I mean. Internet forum disclaimer: Everything's subjective, everything's about what the user wants in terms of looks and function in both guns and gear. I'm not ragging on anything anybody uses in any way. Just some advice based on experience gained through wasting a lot of time and a lot of money on kit/accessories etc that I've ended up not actually liking.
  3. Did I say there wasn't? If it came across that way I'm sorry but that wasn't my intended implication. Hence the first sentence about getting in to relationships with specifically over-bearing/controlling type people. Obviously not everyone is like that.
  4. You really don't need to wait for first hand experience to make a judgement on the TM MEU, it's been out for probably 5+ years at this point and there's many reviews floating around. I owned one for maybe 3-4 years, ran it stock and it got the most abuse of any pistol I own/have owned, only time it had slight problems was when it got full of sand inside and that sand mixed with the silicone and got in all the teeny tiny crevices. Strip down and a good clean later, fully sorted. End of the day it's the same inside as all the other TM 5" 1911s so any review of any of those will be applicable and there's tons of those out there (very few having much negative to say).
  5. I often worry about the number of airsofters who get in to relationships with people who inhibit and trample-on the things that person's really passionate about. It's not my place to tell anyone who they can marry etc, far from it, but I can't help but wonder some days. There's been many whole threads full of people on zero-scum over the years talking about the very subject, secret bank accounts, lying about costs etc. I know there's a massive societal pressure whereby if you're single there's clearly something wrong and defective with you, but I'd honestly far rather people think I'm 'abnormal' than be under the thumb.
  6. Well that wasn't really my point. IMHO, the actual honey badger looks good, but the ARES version is a very iffy copy to say the least. I spend a lot of time telling people that it's ok for people to like different things so I assure you I'm aware. But I think it's fairly generally accepted by a large amount of people that of all the guns ARES have done, that one is rather ugly, hence I wouldn't have picked it to argue that ARES make nice looking guns, because you're less likely to convince the audience.
  7. That weird abortion of a 'honey badger' wouldn't have been the aesthetic example I'd have chosen in all honesty.
  8. Well that entirely depends on which brand of AEG and GBBr. Different mfgs use different spec threads on their uppers.
  9. mm.. yeah, but isn't a 1911. You wouldn't label a Glock 19 a Glock 17.
  10. Looks good mate. I'd advise cranking that holster high up as you can though. Those nylon all-in-1 types tend to sit low but that's the first ever drop-calf I've seen, I'd recommend cutting some of the strap if it won't adjust much above your knee (and if it's possible to do so).
  11. http://www.tactical-kit.co.uk/tactical-tailor-plate-carrier-modular-22001-7050-p.asp Real deal quality (far and away above most of the chinese made airsoft kit), £25 under budget. If you really need the extra capacity you can add side panels later on down the line.

  13. Pretty good looking setup mack. Never lived anywhere I've been able to have any RIFs or gear out so I'm pretty envious I have to admit.
  14. Yeah.. there actually isn't, just missing 2 Glocks from the picture, ha. That was as wide as I could make it to fit in the space available though, so cest la vie. Main thing is I learnt a fair bit during the build process and the shopping for the materials about what's available to work with and ways to make maximum possible use of the space. Mk2 will probably be an upside-down T shape to double capacity while still just using the one vertical board, a different hole pattern for the pegs and proper wood instead of reconstituted stuff. The plyboard does work alright, takes a stain and is mega cheap, MDF would make for neater results but looks even uglier than than the ply. Looking around B&Q and Homebase though I found all-pine 'furniture board' which comes in pieces far wider than the average plank, as well as stuff called 'hobbyboard' which comes in some nice hard woods and looks to be planks that are glued and heat pressed together to essentially make one piece. Costs about £15-20 for a big enough board to make what I need, but that will be essentially the entire monetary outlay; which is very reasonable for a quality storage solution I'd say.
  15. 16. Thread title says it. Built myself a pistol rack out of some cheap wood last week, much better solution than I had before (i.e. all the handguns just sort of crammed haphazardly next to some other gear on a shelf).
  17. Depends on the AEG manufacturer. I have a mil-spec MOE stock on a G&G gun here, very close fit indeed. The MOE and B5 Bravo I've used on my G&P were insanely tight fitting, could barely be adjusted. RS AR stocks fit 'just right' on all my TM recoil guns and KWAs. Very loose on my 2 Avalon/VFCs though and I tried a variety of stock types on them so it's definitely the airsoft buffer tubes that change, not the stock internal dimensions. As per usual with airsoft, tolerances vary wildly. Long as you buy mil-spec AR stocks rather than comm spec, it'll generally be just fine and if it's loose a layer or two of leccy tape will take the slop out.
  18. Airsoft wise, Arc'teryx Talos trousers in grey to match the shirt I've had for a lil while and some good old Mechanix. Not tried the fastfit before so it'll be interesting to compare them to the original model, see how they perform. Not usually a fan of the look of camo gloves if I'm honest, but I just wanted a pair of these for some reason; they're made from some very nice feeling and flexible materials which is the main thing.
  19. I'm somewhat short sighted, always found an ACOG extremely useful in woodland games; literally couldn't identify friend from foe otherwise. For the longer shots I aim with the optic, closer up you can point-shoot easily enough with a quick burst or few shots in semi. Only way to really know if you like the characteristics of a magnified optic is to try one out. Within a skirmish or two you'll know whether it's for you or not.
  20. £150 is a bit of a steal for those it has to be said. Specially in a 12.5" (at a guess) barrel with mid-length gas, that's a really nice setup. If I didn't have too many guns already I'd pick one up as a loaner.
  21. Have to say... if your ear ever got in the way of the reciprocating cocking handle, I could only presume you sights were mounted on the side of the gun and your cheek weld was somewhere on the magazine. Despite what some internet commandos out there tend say, you can shoot the real thing left handed without losing teeth. Just only in a very specific, awkward stance and you'd not hit much past 15m I don't think, not without a lot of practice. But anyway, OP, long as it's from a reputable, trusted retailer and brand you cannot go too far wrong; if possible just go in to a shop and get hands on with whatever you can and you'll very quickly figure out what you really like. Half the time these threads end up being more for the old-salts than the new players anyway and it ends up going a bit too in depth, but ergonomics are an entirely individual thing that can't be experienced though the internet. For example, I was always certain that I'd really love the handling characteristics of the P90... handled a real one a couple of weeks back... not a fan it turned out, so you never do know.
  22. The Tac Tailor Fight-Light is cheaper and, IMHO, a lot better.
  23. VFC M&P9 with some custom work by a buddy of mine state-side.
  24. IMO, by the time you've bought all those parts (and this is airsoft, they may or may not fit, you roll the dice) you might as well have bought a G&G combat machine. They have the proper threaded section on the front of the upper for mounting various freefloat handguards.
