Man I remember 'all good retailers' getting those in back in.. early-mid 2010s? Was in the latter part of PTS having the Magpul license I think. If I were to guess, it was a potentially way of using up excess items that didn't sell as well separately. I already had/have guns that are sadly too similar for it to make sense for me to buy one, but man seeing that today was cool as hell haha, very nice. That aesthetic took off like a rocket just a couple years after I started and was the thing for a solid stretch, I've still got almost everything I purchased from that time I like it that much. Jim's quite right, both real and airsoft ACOGs (and the SUSAT) require your eye to be bloody close, I'd also lose the BUIS personally, the one on the gas block might well go rather melty on a real gun (I know, I know) and then you can get the ACOG to the place it needs to be.

Is that the RS MI mount? I fitted mine and I thought I tested it and found no issues but now I'm questioning it in my mind and can't access my stuff ?

Is the implication not that the outer tube of the fake can can go back on and cover the tracer?

How's the VHS collection doing? I am jesting you gotta use what you got, but the weight/power ratio of lipos, the sizes and the charging speeds do make them more than worth moving/upgrading to I'd say.

Not personally a tracer fan, but I do have the extended inner+outer barrel combo that was sold briefly a long while back inside my PTS FPG and it'd make sense to do that in the Aegis too for sure. Thanks for the reminder.

Unfortunately unless you strap gear to your calves the weight is the weight, as you say all you can do is lessen it. Distribution only significantly matters for really heavy loads over prolonged periods (100L+ bergans, heavy body armour), your pelvis and down experience it the same either way essentially. Barrel length and gun body material don't really matter in airsoft; get a short plastic gun (if you haven't). A couple more plastic mid caps offers far more rounds for far less weight than your pistol + pistol mags. I don't know about anyone else, but I always carried a gas pistol just because 'it's the done thing' for so many years and never needed it so it's mostly relegated to indoor games now. 2 TRMRs is a ton of weight but obviously big cost long term vs lighter disposable pyro. Water of course is rather non-negotiable as is the ammo, can you stash a bag somewhere maybe? Nylon wise, just opt for for the best and lightest you can afford (modern 500D or lighter not 1000D) that carries what you must have. Get the lightest mags you can with plenty of capacity to minimise the quantity, maybe do some maths on rounds carried ratio to weight of all the mags carrying said rounds.

Yep, always been the way. Problem is in this budget range you don't get as much consistency in the manufacturing or QC/QA checks. "The death of one man is a tragedy. The death of millions is a statistic." The turnover of airsoft players is too regular for it to become common knowledge that anyone's individual experience of a given brand is, not to be harsh, but essentially worthless (until aggregated). If someone's had dozens of items from a brand over a few years and looked at them closely and compared to others.. it's slightly more relevant, but still nothing concrete. I've seen people get insanely unlucky multiple times with proven and objectively quality brands and 1-2 actually have multiple Ares guns that lasted years of heavy play. Posting "my experience with X item bought at Y time" is fine and you add it to the pile for others to read and do with as they see fit. Someone like Luke at NA is maybe one rare example of an individual who sees probably hundreds of guns a year and has done for years and can say "Z brand is likely to be decent for ABC reasons" with some amount of credence, but everyone else - 99% chance you're not sufficiently qualified to make such a statement. Even if you've been playing very regularly for 20 years and travelling all over, you might glean a bit of an inkling but brands and models come and go very rapidly, quality levels rise and fall in the space of months some time. Constantly aggregating the necessary data points in short enough a time isn't really feasible for the vast majority.

TM mags always have been on the pricey side (especially NGRS), nothing's changed there. But they are good. You need a generic platform to bulk buy standardised plastic mids if you want cheap mags.

Nothing wrong with a good 7.4v with decent C rating that's looked after. But if the gun says it's designed for an 11.1 then that'll make it a noticeable bit more snappy. 7.4 was more the standard when LiPos came in, but 11.1 is becoming more the standard now with new releases.

Skirmishin' CR in CB from about 2018-ish, changed the main bits since but it was decent.

It was always gonna have some sort of issues in the first run, so if you know that but want it: wait. That's what I'm doing, money is set aside for later. I'd not be at all surprised if lots of owners who don't enjoy partaking in the sport of forum whinging are out there happily running around with them today though, blissfully unaware of the fact their xyz gear doesn't mesh optimally. Strong chance they'll give up the game before the thing breaks - as is the case for a significant plurality of RIFs purchased I might imagine. I've been to Luke a couple of times recently, he's done good work on the guns I've got back far as I can tell, perfectly alright bloke all around. I'm not sure he'd disagree if I said he's the most contrarian person in airsoft though and I do think there's not a slim chance he's over-exaggerated somewhat in that video just because it's the hot new thing; at least in terms of tone and attitude. No disagreement from me that objectively it could be better made for the price. Again, I like it and I want one, but I'm not buying one now.

Do more than 7 people actually want that? Honest question, as with anything niche it's amazing for that small group who do and I'm made up for those, but I do find it surprising from a business standpoint. VFC must be selling plenty of ARs.

Questions definitely cannot be properly answered without further information first being provided, which you were asked for, so please provide it if you wish to glean the experience/opinions of others here. The reality is, more budget guns are often not worth the cost of changing parts, so just use them as is. Play around with rail attachments maybe, or a quick spray paint job is cheap and you're not massively cutting in to the re-sale value of a high ticket item. You're gonna make mistakes (we all did and do) and a lot of 'techs' aren't actually any good, some are downright lying scamming scumbags. Learn from the early mistakes on the guns that don't sting the wallet as much when you mess up.

Probably the best thread title/premise I've seen on here. Great idea. I think I was lucky in a respect, when I went through my trade training (age 19/20) it was like a more compact stint at uni except we got paid and had to march for it. I'd watch most of the other lads on my course manage to vanish their pay packet within a week every single month, for 15 months. They'd *constantly* complain about being skint the 2nd half of the month and be even worse when their cars were due MOT or insurance. I figured I'd better not be like them. Appreciate the folks who've been so open and honest so far, really good to see. I hope this discussion continues.

Personally I'm a 50 Shade Of FDE fan and the recent HKs with many many tones are great imo, my TM SCAR is very similar in that respect and I love it, but I think it's an acquired taste. I'd also move the light and optic further forward but obviously that's niff-naff kinda stuff. I would agree that particular rug with it's colours combined with the many colours of the gun just means there's a lot going on in that one specific photo, but the overall aesthetic of the rifle is absolutely top drawer for me personally.

Personally I do find these days that a little slot to safely keep phone, wallet and car keys behind a few mids is all I need ha, nice one mate and appreciate the faith in a comparatively new product thanks for showcasing it. Good choice of harness, solid little setup.

You're probably thinking "what the heck is this half-a-job you're posting here man??" and that's quite understandable ? Many years ago I decided I wanted to do just 1 built of a regular V2 AR AEG that was pretty much tip-top, about as good as possible, or as good as I could get anyway. Spreading the cost over years and only buying the best parts as and when they were available. At first I thought I'd begun around 5 years ago, turns out after checking my e-mail archives that I bought the receiver set May 2016 and the handguard way back in July 2015 (which was the starting component as best I can recall). First I got those key externals together, then sent them off to a machinist/tech work buddy probably a little before the rona happened. He finished off the gearbox/hop and inner assembly and I collected the base just last week in order to finish off the last few little outside bits that I can competently do myself.. maybe. Though they're some of the trickiest as this is an actual (Jaws music): scratch build. Not sure how many other people might've seen this particular RIF being offered before, but this whole gun uses the same receiver set and as depicted I have the same pistol grip, but I wanted my own choice of more modern internals, different barrel length/handguard and to generally cherry pick every little bit of the gun. https://www.airsoftglobal.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=21_52&products_id=32248 Would it have been easier overall to buy one of these or even any G&P AR and gradually swap everything? Ahh beat me to it. I think if we magically went back to the selections/availability of guns and kit from any time more than a few years back everyone would lose their minds. Plenty of brands and products have come and gone, but there's never been a wider selection overall than there is right now I'd bet a lot on that. If you asked folks whether they though TM would make a recoil HK417, an AA-12 and a gas AK back when I started the forum threads would go nuclear. That's just one brand too. Many sites have definitely come and gone that's a big one I think and that will probably be something that affects certain people massively. If you had that perfect site that was right on your doorstep, great facilities, layout you enjoyed immensely, good player base, really well run, cheap prices, nice lunch etc etc and then that all just vanished one day, it'd be a really big deal I'd imagine. Obviously I personally wouldn't mind seeing some people stop thinking of Sunday skirmishes as a competitive sport vs a fun experience, or for the toxic clickbait content to go away, but all things considered there's no time I would go back to if I did have a time machine. Apart from when the mall was open maybe, that was the best site for me by a good margin and my enthusiasm for actually playing is somewhat lesser since it went, but I wouldn't swap it for the range of 'stuff' available now.
