The other option is to buy something cheap and basic to see if he enjoys the experience of sniping.  if he's only really interested in YouTube headshots at 90 metres, then there's no cheap route to that - although buying used lets you mitigate some of that cost.

There's sense in that. You can usually buy one that someone has already upgraded and set up for less than what it would cost you to do yourself; just have to make sure you know what you're buying as some just aren't worth it.

I don't think it's the brand itself necessarily, as I had one about ten years ago for a while and had no problems.
I think it's just age, it'd been sat in storage for a while according to the advert.

on a serious note, sites should figure out at what distance a heavy bb fired at 2.3J drops its energy to a "safe" level (say 1J). Your 20m bog standard MED was calculated on a 0.20g bb being fired at 500 fps, we all know that heavy bbs retain their energy for a longer time/distance and that nobody with at least one working brain cell would use 0.2s in a 2.3J gun.

All they need to be concerned with is that sites exist at all. No sites,no sales.

I was curious when he said MED for snipers was 50m; unusual, but okay if that's their rule, and when I queried it (I wasn't sure if he'd said 50 or 15 in the briefing) he said it was 'UKARA standard.

In fairness G&G green rubbers are superb, but that doesn't change the fact he most certainly drinking the Kool-Aid.

Oh, also R-Hops and Maple Leaf rubbers are shit and designed to be used in semi only, whereas the G&G green rubber is superb.
