Your first sentence is pretty much why putting a list together as the second sentence is impracticable. A ranking system can age like milk as new models at a given price range enter the market. Especially today when what were considered premium feature sets such as programmable MOSFETs/ETUs, 6.02mm (for argument's sake) inner barrels etc, can be seen in the sub-200 GBP price range now, rankings can quickly become skewed or outdated.

Like Dan, I haven't had any problems with it shifting from zero after I dial it in (elevation and windage) or whatever setting was applied. I have had one Nuprol LiPo fail even though I used a decent balance charger - the battery has expanded without bursting or leaking. Even a friend of mine didn't go through a while large can on Nuprol green gas in a day of playing with a pistol as his primary. Hop-up is meant to create a small arc to allow the BBs to travel farther before they drop. It depends on the gun you use whether a heavier BB is beneficial as the hop on your particular gun may not be able to lift heavier BBs more readily for a desired range. In what respect? Context and not being vague matter. If you mean your shotgun and pistol, it depends more on he who wields than anything. Does your CQB site permit BFGs? Playing with only a pistol doesn't make you a speed softer in itself. Being a speedy boi may not lend well depending on what objectives you have for the site you play at or its rules of engagement. Whether you should play with only a pistol is a decision only you can make with trial and error.

Forgive the scepticism, if you've signed up to express genuine concern, that's great and we hope you'll become a valued member of these forums but if you've signed up to stir the pot or spread rumours under a facade of concern for his wellbeing, I don't think this is the place for you. @Yashy This is one of the reasons I asked previously what you thought you were missing out on by being slightly below the limit. You stand to gain more by having a faster trigger response and being able to sight an opponent more quickly than you will gain in whimsically chasing the FPS limit. In the case of my P90 that I'd upgraded with a MOSFET, the trigger response has been night and day better and let me sometimes shoot players first even when they spotted me first. My Hi-Capa is a pea shooter in terms of falling well withing the site limits but I scored a hit on an opposing player by both having a quick trigger response and being able to aim at him more quickly than he could with his AEG.

The "perfect" gun if you insist on just one is anything that an individual can use effectively indoors and outdoors scoring consistent hits. I use many of my same primaries outdoors and in CQB and get hits frequently because I play somewhat regularly and hone my skills. You should focus on being within the site limits. Chasing the limit risks to failing a chrono test. My M4 that could be likened to a PDW is "only" 0.9J when I've played at sites with a 1.13J limit (indoors and outdoors) but I've scored hits regularly in both environments and not felt at a significant disadvantage against other players bound to the same limit. As others have said, being within 1.0J should cover you at the vast majority of UK sites if you insist on never having to "open up (your) gun just to play indoors". A quick-change spring option offers a reasonable compromise where just need a screwdriver to eject the spring and its guide if you need to downgrade the former.

I would advise focusing on the muzzle energy instead of the speed. That way, you only need to concern yourself with whether your BB of a given weight is chrono tested within the joule limit examples Rogerborg gave. Depending on the site, an AEG will have an energy limit around the 1.13J mark regardless of your pellet being 0.2g, 0.5g or anything in betweeen.

Welcome! To avoid confusion, UKARA is one of several defences for a retailer to sell you a RIF, not a licence. You don't need a licence to own or purchase an airsoft gun. Liability insurance and a risk assessment should be prioritised before becoming a UKARA member site as a suitable liability insurance policy is required when you apply to become a UKARA member site. If you wish to purchase RIFs before getting your site fully set up, you can ask at an airsoft site that is registered with UKARA for an application form. You need to play 3 games with a minimum of 56 days between your first and third games where the site owner/director/host/marshal vouches for you and signs the form. After your third game is signed off, the site will submit your application to UKARA and shortly after that, you receive an email confirming your membership, number and expiry date (about 12 months after you are confirmed as a UKARA member). I don't recall claiming UKARA was required for possession. I do agree that there is excessive zeal with the rules though. Who said the world has to make sense all the time? Laws aren't always reflective of trying to make sense, they are often reflective of the wealthy and the well-connected being able to sway government policy to suit their agendas. Airguns are easier to acquire because there are shooting clubs with the power to lobby at a time when airsoft wasn't anywhere near as big as it is today.

I can vouch having been attended this year and last year. I had a blast and I like to think the general feel was hugely favourable. @joshcowin You should keep an eye on RIFT Airsoft's website and social media pages for updates. It will probably be around Jan/Feb next year that the dates are confirmed but you should expect the last weekend of May, give or take a week, to be the dates to save.

What could possibly go wrong? I respect the sites I've played at having done not just the chrono tests at the start of the day but an unplanned chrono test later to confirm people were still in the limits, especially as the heatwave did risk putting some of us above the limit by the afternoon.
