  1. Non-airsoft playing cosplayers who visit a players' forum and want support to circumvent the laws and regulations around purchasing a RIF with no regard for the potential fall out that could happen and make things more difficult for actual players. The other thing that grinds my gears is the self-importance such people show when they say they don't care about people's opposition, nor do they appreciate you can't always get what you want in life. Even if your circumstances are difficult, there isn't always room for exceptions.
  2. You can play 3 games with a registered site and get a UKARA defence or stick with one site that does its own defence after similar qualifying criteria for UKARA. Considering the instances of open-carrying cosplayers in the past ~18 months, I don't imagine a forum with regular players will want any further part in enabling a lack of common sense that jeopardises their ability to buy a RIF and act responsibly with it.
  3. It's honestly not a bad idea. They'll be very generic but not a bad way to get yourself started as you'll more than likely have some sort of M4 derivative for your rental gun. Most sites that are UKARA registered advertise the fact as it's a good selling point for them to lock you in for at least 3 games. If you go to the Airsoft Plantation website that Colin recommended, it shows it's UKARA registered at the bottom of the page. That's a common trait to look out for.
  4. Welcome! There are a good few sites in Essex though you'll likely have to come closer south. I'd suggest taking a look at this site to find yourself a site to play at. https://playairsoft.uk/map This sticky topic is worth you having a butcher's. Don't worry about going on your tod. The airsoft community is largely supportive and will be happy to help guide you on your first few games - the more you play, the more likely you'll play with and against the same people so there will be good camaraderie found soon enough. I get on really well with a fellow I more often than not play against. In terms of gear, much of it will be a learning experience for you. Advice on what you equip will be hugely personal and you'll have to discover what works for you over time. I'd say there are 3 key points when you plan getting started. Don't skimp on eye protection. Absolutely do not buy it from Ali Express, Wish or Temu - you are playing a huge gamble with your eyesight that just isn't worth what little saving you will make. Even with Amazon and eBay, fakes are sold frequently. You're best off buying from an airsoft retailer where their supply chain will only give EN166 or Z87 compliant eye pro. You don't even have to spend huge amount of money. You can get perfectly suitable eye pro for under £20. A decent pair of boots with ankle cover is recommended. You can walk on uneven terrain frequently or put your foot in a literal rabbit hole. They may not prevent you from breaking an ankle but they can help prevent less serious an injury. You're best off doing rental rather than buying a gun to start with in case you decide it's not for you. You can buy a two-tone to get started but there is a consistent story where reselling it becomes very difficult and loses more money than expected. Some sites have their own shops so you can handle the RIFs available if they have them or it may be worth you visiting an airsoft shop to get that hands-on feel. If you have any questions after you've done that reading, do let us know.
  5. Welcome! It may be more helpful if you were to disclose where in the UK you are based, where you're willing to travel and how frequently you can join a squad for skirmishes. If a squad has a uniform or a very prescriptive loadout as part of its identitiy, will you take that on at your expense? Are you over 18?
  6. More red flags than a Chinese parade. He doesn't even confirm the base Hi-Capa though it's more than likely TM. As you said, its trigger and hammer have probably taken a beating. There's no mention of whether it had been serviced. All I can make out from it is a LimCat slide but that's about it.
  7. https://www.usedairsoft.co.uk/rif-s/electric-powered/jg-sig-550-with-custom-apocalypse-paint-job_i84059 Pricing is meh but don't try and bullshit people. Even Stevie Wonder can see that "custom" paintjob is a roundabout way of you trying to conceal it's a green two-tone job.
  8. I agree. I always see it as a red flag. I always assume they're trying to shy away from responsibility if anything is wrong or disclosing if it had been used or modified in a way that would drop its value further. I know one genuine case where the friend was no position to sell his own kit but that was an exception.
  9. The ambiguous "all in" (or allin [sic]) wankery when listing items for sale. We're not playing a game of poker! "All in" has meant one of (but not limited to) several things Final price, inclusive of delivery and Paypal G&S fees. Final price with delivery but they try charging G&S fees Final price including G&S fees but no delivery Final price without G&S fees or delivery When it's a gun, the final price doesn't include the accessories, such as a scope or sling, the gun is pictured with
  10. Yeah, the same parasite who should be old enough to know that you have to show you have a talent or skill to be worthy to get financially compensated. He's had two months since his tomfoolery and still hasn't shown any effort to pay his own way or borrow from friends & family instead of abusing crowdfunding platforms.
  11. No officers found by his name in Wiltshire either.
  12. I don't recall this forum listing or advertising those Whatsapp groups. Perhaps you should refer back to the Discord or FB chats that more than likely listed them?
  13. That leech has come back again but toned down his wording thinking he is any less of a parasite. https://www.airsoft-hub.com/item/40195-just-wondering
  14. And it's back. https://prefired.co.uk/ads/aap-01c-custom-build/ I wonder why it didn't sell all that time ago.
  15. It's not just the parts with diminishing returns higher than Danniella Westbrook on Colombian flake that put me off, there's also the hideous colours for the slide and/or grip that look like somebody committed an unholy act on a unicorn.
  16. I couldn't agree more about doing rental first or borrowing from your stepson if possible. Getting a two-tone before waiting to get a UKARA defence is arguably worse in the long term whether you decide you really enjoy it and decide to get another gun or if you decide airsoft is not for you. Two-tone depreciates a lot more than a RIF because it has little demand from those who can buy the latter. Even if you paint over or remove the bright colour from a two-tone (technically illegal but I'm not aware of any prosecutions), it'll still be considered less desirable and fetch less as you try reselling it. As EDcase alluded too, there are too many cases where we've had to tell people the harsh reality that they'll have to eat up a big loss to shift any two-tone guns they're reselling.
  17. Sellers who swap original furniture (stock, grip, handguard, etc) on their gun for third-party then list the gun for sale without the originals but charge based on depreciation of the complete original gun and the new furniture.
  18. That's going on the "what grinds your gears" thread. I've already asked about the handguard. ?
  19. Is it the semi-auto function or the fact that it's CO2 powered that draws you to it in particular or the looks? If it's only the looks, Golden Eagle does some M870-based tri-shot gas shotguns with a swappable buttstock and the handguard is something you can work with as a lot of the models have M-LOK.
  20. Pointing out the new hammer is helpful as they are known to break but I wonder why the seller thought it was smarter to push some sensationalist tabloid nonsense in the title instead of something useful like "Combat Master" and whether it's the EMG or Jag Precision version or an unlicensed brand using the markings, the latter of which may be to conceal the actual value.
  21. Welcome! Glad to see more people join the (albeit very fun) money pit.
  22. I'd say about £80 for the shotgun bundle. For the Quake 8 bundle, I'd say around £70-80.
  23. Is it not better to get the gun first to confirm the muzzle energy or is this a used gun that has been chrono tested? I assume you're talking about the NGRS version of the M4 CQBR and not the GBBR or are you talking about the buffer spring with a GBBR? What's the context of a "cheaper alternative"? Adjusting your fps or a less expensive gun itself? You don't need to give War and Peace but it really helps when you're more forthcoming and transparent with details.
  24. I don't suppose you tried WGC Shop or SIXmm?
