Yeah, Poach is right about Meta virtue signalling on promoting firearms while it has no problems with the spread of misinformation and xenophobia. Instagram is shadow banning airsofters. Some of the Whatsapp buy & sell groups have just turned into glorified chat rooms with a load of banalities under a pretence of "banter".

I went to RIFT Airsoft's Epic Weekender for Saturday at Dalton Barracks in Abingdon. Getting registered, signed in and parked up were swift considering the volume of cars. Chrono testing was no hassle for me though some players didn't follow the marshals advice and didn't get to there as soon as possible so there was a bit of a delay ahead of the safety briefing and more marshals joined to speed up the chrono test. Tony did his best to keep the safety briefing as short as possible given that it was hammering down with rain in the morning (weekend players weren't required to attend the Sunday briefing after attending that on Saturday). The mission objectives were a lot of fun as the Blue Team had to recover laptops from across the map while preventing Red Team from retrieving mortar ammo tins and returning them to either of the two mortar points on the map. Both teams had the opportunity to stop the Land Rover Snatch vehicles with smoke grenades and steal a jerry can (only one at a time). Game play was good despite the morning weather. Both teams pushed forward and retrieved items from across the map though some understandably took cover within the containers or near trees. Some players did leave after the morning game due to the weather so teams were rebalanced for the afternoon game and the objectives were swapped. There were alternatives later in the day where there were 1v1, 2v2 and 4v4 competitions in the bunker. White Sphere Tactical had a daily raffle where several items could be won including a TM Single Action Army pistol, another couple of RIFs and some tactical gear along with a lifetime membership in Saturday's draw. There was also a weekend raffle where a TM H&K 416 NGRS was the prize. On special offer through WST were AAP-01s for £70 apiece. Players were able to sell their RIFs and gear at the site. RIFT Airsoft itself was selling its ex-rental G&G CM16 Raiders for £35 working or £20 boneyard. Through RIFT you could also buy ammo, gas and pyro. Food options were plentiful with chicken wraps, hot dogs, sausage rolls and pasties available along with chocolate bars, ice cream. In addition to the water and fizzy drinks available throughout the day, a selection of beers and ciders were available to purchase later in the day though you wouldn't be allowed to play if you drank alcohol. The MoD did some really nice burgers in the afternoon for a reasonable price. Blood Cancer UK was a charity of choice and £1,000 was raised for it. Despite the miserable start to the day, I enjoyed my time, catching up with players I'd shot alongside or against before and made new acquaintances at the same time.

Now may not be the best time to sell as you can get the base gun (no RMR sight or rail mount) with silver trim instead of red for £80 from Patrol Base at the moment. The mock suppressor will add little as a used item so with the extra mag, you may get £90-100 on a good day but with what looks like a paint chip or scuff on the hammer, I wouldn't be surprised if you get lower offers as Vorsk hasn't got the strongest reputation for resale value.

Help Me to Convince a Site Owner to Switch to Joules Please
Galvatron replied to Chev Chelios's topic in General Discussion
I'm sorry but I don't quite get the context. Do they chrono test on 0.2g only and not on the weight the player is using? If that's the context, I agree with Hudson's suggestion that doing tests with different weights to illustrate joule creep would be a good idea. I would have thought liability insurance policies would be strict about energy limits. -
Your first sentence is pretty much why putting a list together as the second sentence is impracticable. A ranking system can age like milk as new models at a given price range enter the market. Especially today when what were considered premium feature sets such as programmable MOSFETs/ETUs, 6.02mm (for argument's sake) inner barrels etc, can be seen in the sub-200 GBP price range now, rankings can quickly become skewed or outdated.

I reckon exposing the dirty laundry of scammers in public is a good thing.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08W41R168/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1 I have the above RDS. Like Dan, I haven't had any problems with it shifting from zero after I dial it in (elevation and windage) or whatever setting was applied. Vapex is my favourite battery brand and I've had good experience with Duel Code too. I have had one Nuprol LiPo fail even though I used a decent balance charger - the battery has expanded without bursting or leaking. It may just be one bad apple as my other one of the same stick type is fine. I agree with Lozart somewhat. Odin clones are a lucky dip. Some are acceptable but many are terrible with frequent jamming or even deforming your BBs. The clones are cheap because the QC in manufacturing isn't up to the original. On mid-caps, I usually use pistol speedloaders when I'm out on the field though. I'll also back up his recommendation on Red Dot Engineering for sight protectors. I'm rather partial to AceTech tracers on my primary and secondary for CQB. The Brighter C, Blaster, and Bifrost are a bit irksome as they don't have a power-off button. You just have to stick a pen or opaque cylindrical down the barrel to turn them off but they have to be kept there.

https://www.usedairsoft.co.uk/rif-s/electric-powered/g36-airsoft-riffle-with-extras_i64691 The seller hasn't specified which brand of G36 (I assume either JG, CYMA or ASG with no side picatinny rails) but its functional and cosmetic problems lead me to believe he's dreaming with the price. The swapped motor, sight and torch must all be worth big bucks.

How long's a piece of string? It depends on the site and how trigger-happy you are. Even a friend of mine didn't go through a while large can on Nuprol green gas in a day of playing with a pistol as his primary. Hop-up is meant to create a small arc to allow the BBs to travel farther before they drop. It depends on the gun you use whether a heavier BB is beneficial as the hop on your particular gun may not be able to lift heavier BBs more readily for a desired range. In what respect? Context and not being vague matter. If you mean your shotgun and pistol, it depends more on he who wields than anything. Does your CQB site permit BFGs? Playing with only a pistol doesn't make you a speed softer in itself. Being a speedy boi may not lend well depending on what objectives you have for the site you play at or its rules of engagement. Whether you should play with only a pistol is a decision only you can make with trial and error.

3 days ago, someone commented on his last YouTube video saying he's alive and doing OK considering his condition, according to friends on his Discord, backing up post above yours. Forgive the scepticism, if you've signed up to express genuine concern, that's great and we hope you'll become a valued member of these forums but if you've signed up to stir the pot or spread rumours under a facade of concern for his wellbeing, I don't think this is the place for you. I just find it odd that you didn't provide a link to back up your claim.

Welcome!

As Dan said, you shouldn't be surprised to see lower offers. There are M4-based RIFs with programmable MOSFETs (albeit with a shorter barrel and handguard) in that price range that people can buy brand new...
-
£450 for 3 "used once" RIFs that I'm sure can be bought for less than that brand new. https://www.usedairsoft.co.uk/rif-s/electric-powered/set-up_i64202 The accessories are "fluff" that lose even more resale value.

Whats the general rule of thumb when it comes to fps/J?
Galvatron replied to Yashy's topic in General Help
@Yashy This is one of the reasons I asked previously what you thought you were missing out on by being slightly below the limit. You stand to gain more by having a faster trigger response and being able to sight an opponent more quickly than you will gain in whimsically chasing the FPS limit. In the case of my P90 that I'd upgraded with a MOSFET, the trigger response has been night and day better and let me sometimes shoot players first even when they spotted me first. My Hi-Capa is a pea shooter in terms of falling well withing the site limits but I scored a hit on an opposing player by both having a quick trigger response and being able to aim at him more quickly than he could with his AEG. -
should i upgrade my AEG or should i buy a tm mp7
Galvatron replied to shatis's topic in General Discussion
Welcome. Do you know a fellow player who'd let you borrow theirs for a skirmish to decide if the MP7 is for you or not? Whether you should get one is a very personal thing as I know people who love the TM, WE or Umarex MP7 and those who aren't so fond of them. -
Whats the general rule of thumb when it comes to fps/J?
Galvatron replied to Yashy's topic in General Help
The "perfect" gun if you insist on just one is anything that an individual can use effectively indoors and outdoors scoring consistent hits. I use many of my same primaries outdoors and in CQB and get hits frequently because I play somewhat regularly and hone my skills. You should focus on being within the site limits. Chasing the limit risks to failing a chrono test. My M4 that could be likened to a PDW is "only" 0.9J when I've played at sites with a 1.13J limit (indoors and outdoors) but I've scored hits regularly in both environments and not felt at a significant disadvantage against other players bound to the same limit. As others have said, being within 1.0J should cover you at the vast majority of UK sites if you insist on never having to "open up (your) gun just to play indoors". A quick-change spring option offers a reasonable compromise where just need a screwdriver to eject the spring and its guide if you need to downgrade the former. -
New player looking for a group to join near Oxford
Galvatron replied to mbus's topic in New Players & Arrivals
In total agreement about not worrying about showing up on your tod. If I may plug as someone who's played there multiple times, might I suggest REDCON-2 at Dalton Barracks near Abingdon since you're looking near Oxford? It's run by RIFT Airsoft. Good marshals, varying playing environments, convoy vehicles to be escorted in, really fun objectives and gameplay, reasonably priced food and drinks in a captive market, prizes to be won with White Sphere Tactical. The player base is usually friendly and welcoming. -
In addition to the points about checking that there are no obvious signs of damage or obstruction, do you feel resistance against the release fill valve when you gently press your thumb against it, just to confirm you are filling the magazine? What kind of gas are you using?

Looking for beta testers for a new airsoft social website
Galvatron replied to Bo B's topic in General Discussion
Can you provide some clarity on this minimum viable product? FB, Instagram, Twitter et al are all social websites but they operate differently so how can somebody qualify themselves being a good beta testing candidate when there is no clear competency that needs to be demonstrated? I ask this as a STEM graduate and professional who developed, released and tested beta phases of a product. -
Tech To Work On Cybergun SCAR Gearbox
Galvatron replied to Point Two Balls's topic in Recommend a Tech
To avoid guessing games, which techs have you asked already? -
"I dream so you don't have to!"
-
The AAP has a sizeable fan base and modding support group behind it if any of that's a factor for you?
-
Do you have plans to build a collection of pistols with the 1911 or Glock mag ecosystem in mind?
-
I would advise focusing on the muzzle energy instead of the speed. That way, you only need to concern yourself with whether your BB of a given weight is chrono tested within the joule limit examples Rogerborg gave. Depending on the site, an AEG will have an energy limit around the 1.13J mark regardless of your pellet being 0.2g, 0.5g or anything in betweeen.

Welcome! To avoid confusion, UKARA is one of several defences for a retailer to sell you a RIF, not a licence. You don't need a licence to own or purchase an airsoft gun. Liability insurance and a risk assessment should be prioritised before becoming a UKARA member site as a suitable liability insurance policy is required when you apply to become a UKARA member site. If you wish to purchase RIFs before getting your site fully set up, you can ask at an airsoft site that is registered with UKARA for an application form. You need to play 3 games with a minimum of 56 days between your first and third games where the site owner/director/host/marshal vouches for you and signs the form. After your third game is signed off, the site will submit your application to UKARA and shortly after that, you receive an email confirming your membership, number and expiry date (about 12 months after you are confirmed as a UKARA member). It's probably worth having a butcher's at the UKARA site. http://ukara.org.uk/ Good luck with your site!
