Mine turned up today too. Took a fair bit of effort to get it onto the 1911 rail. Rock solid on both where the repros had play. Not sure on why there's a slight design difference for the 'surefire' trademark. Can only guess one is older than the other or maybe some different tooling used for it? Controls are nice and stiff, very hard to accidentally knock the light on which was a gripe I had with the repros.
Very happy with these. Now I just need a lightbearing holster for each - any suggestions welcome

If you're new to airsoft (meaning you've not really played much before), i'd recommend not buying a sniper as the videos online you've likely seen are of players with lots of experience and lots of money invested into their rifles - most of the videos i've seen have their snipers running on HPA too. Snipers, especially spring rifles, are 'built not bought' unless you're going to buy someones already built rifle that they're selling on but even then, there's no guarantee of it working as it should <- found this one out from personal experience Turns out the guy had spent ~£40 on a hop unit that just didn't work well with the rifle.
It's my understanding that most snipers, out of the box, require extensive upgrades to make them viable (some more than others) and AFAIK they're often sold with a spring inside that only outputs 1 joule. Additionally, accuracy and range on the stock hop units and hop rubbers is poor to questionable. AirsoftCamMan has a good video where he uses a stock CYMA VSR and a stock SSG10A1. This will give you an idea of how they are without upgrades. It's not totally clear if he's put 500fps springs into these guns so take it with a grain of salt.
Even when you get to the point of having a well built & tuned sniper rifle, it's still airsoft and you're still shooting plastic BBs that will skew off at times and miss the target even if you do everything right.
To answer your question about rifles: the most recommended i've seen is the Tac-41 Lite Sport then the Novritsch offerings.- Cannonfodder, ruskitseller and Tackle

Yes i've been, both before and after they opened their SpeedSoft arena. I'll happily admit that it used to be better beforehand and the reduced space for the regular airsoft walk-ons has made it an overall worse experience however it is the only indoors CQB site in the local area. Be mindful when you're on the upper floor of the arena - whatever they're using on the 'floor' they can actually be very slippy and i've fallen on my arse more than once even in boots. IMO the best days are when there are less people because it allows freedom of movement for both teams in the new setup. With more people, it's just too cramped. The old setup was longer allowing for more/deeper flanking routes and you could get behind the enemy team pretty often which could flip the momentum of the match you were in - annoyingly, this is pretty rare now with the condensed arena unless you have lower numbers.
The only other Indoor sites in the area (that i'm aware of) are NoLimits in Newcastle and 101Airsoft in Scarborough.
You can use this site to see all the sites in the UK.I can vouch for Armageddon: The Woodland (Middlesbrough) being a quality outdoors woodland site (also my regular site) and the owner is a fantastic guy to deal with. NTAC is a decent site with questionable marshalling, however, I haven't been in well over a year so it may have changed since then.

Personally i'd suggest using AKU Pilgrims if you can get your hands on them cheap. I paid £40 for mine (surplus) and they're the most comfortable boots i've worn to the point I swear by them. -

Noise is the biggest turn off for me - I may take a punt on payday. For reference; my Exfog is in a pouch, velcro'd to my helmet, and my hearing protection picks up a noticeable constant vibration/low humming noise from the fan running. I can't imagine running anything that's much louder than what I use now.
For those not using active hearing protection, could be worth a chance. -
Try getting in touch with TheCageAirsoft. They'll let you post in your RIF and their prices are good when I used them last in 2023 - they only charged me £67 labour for what amounted to a complete overhaul of my stock MP5 - I provided the majority of parts required.
Nothing wrong with shopping around for better quotes. -
For a AEG, do a lot of research before buying. You can pick up a RIF that will last you for years.
For gear, go cheap (or surplus) at first and find out what does and doesn't work for you (what you need more of and what you need less of) and from here you can work out what you'd like to run in the future before you dedicate serious money into your kit. -
I'd say the main 'gatekeeping' factor for people moving into any kind of 'primary' GBB RIF is the cost of magazines. Most M4 gas mags are ~£50 per mag and some specialised mags like the MP7 can be listed for £70+ at UK retailers which can scare off a lot of people from going to gas (yes I know you can get them from retailers in Asia for a fraction but that's besides the point).
Personally, i've only ever ran my gas MP9 & MP7 at my CQB place as it's semi-only and levels the playing field in terms of ammo count and rate of fire. For outdoors, i've always used an AEG however i'm starting to move into a VSR for bigger sites and a different style of play.
I have recently stumbled into owning a GBBR M4 and like my other gas 'primary' RIFs, I like being able to manipulate a weapon that's capapble outside 30m - I just need to find mags on the cheap(ish)

For CQB, I stick to 1x optics that I can comfortably run with both eyes open - I've used XPS3, EXPS3 and 552 holo replicas all from different brands in totally different price brackets. When outdoors, I started to attach a 3x magnifier but found it pointless in most situations unless spotting at the longest ranges of the site which, at that point, my AEG couldn't even hit. I have a 4x ACOG + RMR on my L85A2 but even then, the 4x is super overkill and the RMR is used 90% of the time.
As you're new to airsoft you'll be surprised (even outdoors) how well your 1x red dot optic works unless you're in a site that offers long sight lines. IMO the only people who end up (really) needing any stronger optics are spotters or snipers. -
Depends on where i'm playing and, sometimes, the RIF i'm using.
I've found that i'm much more comfortable with a belt & yoke setup when playing outdoors as it lets me get flatter while not obscuring magazines for a reload but dislike the extra width when playing indoors CQB so I run a chest rig for that instead. After selling my last webbing setup, i've wanted another so i've been building a new one in MC Tropic ready for when I can get back outdoors next. Just need to find some MC Tropic M4 pouches.
As for RIF, the only comfortable way i've found to store P90 mags is in the specific pouches that Viper make from a belt setup. The mags do fit in a chest rig but the length means i'm close to hitting myself in the chin with the mag.- ruskitseller and Tackle

Might as well go with TM tbh. You know they're going to work and you get a good foam filled suppressor included with it.
I've read that the ASG magazines are the best of the lot however I would definitely suggest getting 'low profile' magazine followers as this allows and extra 4-8 BBs per mag (depending on brand) and they're super cheap without causing feeding issues. -
Anyone able to test print some Kar98K shells for me from this STL?
Bonus points if the person printing it can make sure it'll accept the o-rings as they're required for a useable FPS. -

TM Mk23. There's a reason so many people suggest this one. Your MED with a sniper is 30m so you really only need something effective within the 0-30m range which is almost any pistol in airsoft. I personally use one just because of the range, accuracy and consistency it gets.
With a Hadron TDC plate and Flamingo 60 degree (or your preferred) hop rubber you can throw BBs for miles (not literally but you get the idea) as well as being one of the quietest pistols on the market.
You should ask: what's wrong with your current TM HK45? Is it too loud? Inaccurate? Unreliable? -

What happened to that "handguard AEG store" on Aliexpress? They used to have lots of items with line-drawings of the handguards plus pictured reviews but now there's almost nothing. Did it get purged?

Picked up a boneyard WE GBBR for something to tinker with over the winter... only to find it wasn't actually broken unless i'm yet to stumble over the real issue. I was told that the nozzle return spring was broke and there 'may be more wrong with it'. The mag has a tiny tiny tiny leak but that likely just needs seals lubing.
First attempt at testing it was a dud - it sounded like the hammer dropped but it didnt actually fire. I split the receiver to find a BB was stuck between the hammer and mechanism housing so it was releasing the hammer which then jammed on the BB so it wouldn't shoot. Second attempt at testing worked fine - made it through a whole mag no issue and the bolt held open when empty.
I removed the bolt and disassembled it - the stock nozzle spring is totally fine. If anything it's a little weak which could have lead to the incorrect diagnosis(?) so I replaced it with a £10 AngryGun replacement i'd already bought. This spring is a bit twangy so I may go back in and give it a light coating of grease as i've read that's a good way of damping noise. Regardless, I tested it again and it's running totally fine and at the start of the mag it chrono's at 345fps on .20g.
Not a big fan of the KAC handguard or the A2 front sight post/gas block setup or the standard stock. Not sure what i'm going to do with it aesthetically - might have to go back through the M4 picture thread and take inspiration from there. Good thing about the way it's made is that the outer barrel is threaded just after the A2 front sight post so I can turn it into a shorter barrel setup really easily.

And there's me thinking that a pump action that could throw 6 BBs was more than enough but these guys thought it was a good idea to make it semi-auto with almost no delay between shots?
Yea, na. That's actually insane.
The accuracy in that video is strange though because there's some shots I saw with a HUGE spread of BBs even at close range so it's going to be effective in CQB only which is going to suck to get hit by. -

To be honest, I didn't expect too much from an ETU that they wouldn't name as an advertising point (providing it's the ETU that's failing). For £180, I always had the idea in my head of it's going to break sooner rather than later.
I haven't managed to field mine yet outside of testing it when it arrived so it's very much in the 'YMMV' territory but i'll 100% be carrying a backup to the field when I take mine
