I just fitted a series2 bocca rail (12.5” black ) for someone to a WE GBBR , and it came with two barrel nuts one went straight on and the other barely a full turn so I assumed that was for AEG . Did neither of yours not come with two ? Or has the new one not turned up yet ?

as for Specna , I fitted a HAO mk16 rail to mine with the aeg spec nut and it went on with no dramas at all .

Thanks for the reply. The used handguard only came with one barrel nut and I've been assured that it's the AEG one but you know how sellers are. Looking at pictures of the barrel nuts, they both look the same but I assume the threads are different.

The new handguard hasn't arrived yet. Should be posted tomorrow and probably arrive on Wednesday. Was just hoping people had some insight ahead of time.

I've seen those HAO MK16 rails and was tempted but I much prefer the look of the DD mk18 rail.

Thats weird, wonder if it's a nuprol thing. Ive fitted the Angry gun L119 A2 front rail to both a WE GBBR and an aeg and than only comes with 1 barrel nut. Might have used a single shim behind it on the GBBR's from memory but thats all I did.

I've seen this quoted from a couple places during my googling about my issue.

  2. Hi all.

Just wanted to drop in and ask if anyone ever replaced the handguard on any Specna Arms AEG with an aftermarket one?

I've just received a used Nuprol Bocca series two handguard as they're nigh on impossible to find new in the tan/bronze anywhere. I disassembled my SA-C04 and attempted to thread the replacement Nuprol barrel nut on to find that it won't thread past half way on  meaning the outer barrel is loose and I cant fit the new handguard. I didn't want to force it on with an AR tool.

The threads on the Nuprol supplied barrel nut aren't in the best condition but according to the seller, it works fine on the AEG they had it on. In the mean time, I've ordered a brand new series two rail just to test a new barrel nut to see if that's the issue.

Are Specna Arms receiver threads different to the majority of AEGs that this handguard is probably made for?  Do I need to get a Specna arms produced handguard or just a different barrel nut? The threads on the receiver are a little chewed and paint missing but the original delta ring assembly still threads on tightly so they're not totally shot... Yet.

Pics to follow later today as I'm currently on the night shift.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Something I've done a few times, never had to then rely on PayPal but better to have it & not need it etc.

It is concerning though that the seller only wants unsupported payment methods, & still want people to pay over rrp.

Oh yeah, I literally have no idea what he's thinking charging over RRP. Once you've bought it and try to resell, used or not, it knocks cash off

Price is not an issue, as I'd rather pay premium than risk losing an eye, but like with Evader 2s above I can't find any UK store offering them. Any ideas where to look?

Powair6. A store in France. They're very good, 90% of the time they pick/pack and ship your order same day. When using the DHL postage, i've had stuff arrive in two days. I've used them a few times and never paid any tax, import, duty or whatever you want to call it.

I've hyperlinked the store name so you can click it and be taken to the exact page you need.

I'd suggest returning that OneTigris setup and, if you're adamant on using a helmet, just buy a standalone helmet. I have one made by Emersongear and it's been completely fine. The higher end of airsoft helmets are with PTS MTEK Flux and FMA as far as I understand but my £35 EmersonGear one has never done me wrong in over a year of use.

If you're looking at facemasks you have endless options. I used to have my facemask attached to the clips in the corner of the arc rails on my helmet but have recently switched to a Delta Mike as i've got helmet mounted hearing protection which blocks the mask on the helmet.

Ignore the mismatching camos, this was used as an example.

  5. Personally, I have a £35 Emersongear helmet that I got off of Patrolbase and slapped a £10-£15 cover on it. For eye protection, I bought some ESS Profile Pivots that attach to the rails of my helmet. They're expensive at ~£130. I paid the premium because I didn't want a band around my head/helmet that may come loose. They're MIL-DTL-43511D rated and from what I remember they test this spec at about 14 joules of energy. WileyX also make some helmet mounting options for their own goggles.

I'd always suggest wearing goggles over glasses, it's much more likely that a BB will sneak around glasses than goggles.

  6. Half-mask snood face protection; Delta-Mike. Haven't played in this yet. Waiting to try it out.

Balaclava type; any brand except OneTigris, I found theirs to be too big and wouldn't keep the mesh in place.

Cygnus Armory do a mix between a balaclava and Delta-Mike.

  7. Having decided it was worth a punt, I did order the CYMA hop unit... x4... just in case. Shipping from Powair6 was fast as always. Can't fault them, would recommend to anyone.

I've got home from work tonight and started messing about. The CYMA ones are definately lower quality than the G&G hop unit. I even had to use the G&G C-clamp for the barrel as the CYMA ones wasn't big enough and kept trying to jump off. Installing the Omega nub was a pain in the ass as always.

Looking down the barrel, I can see my hop acutally working! All I need to do now is get back to my brothers place and see what the feeding, reliability and range is like.

Interestingly, G&G support got back into contact with me and they said they'd sell me a hop unit directly from them. $23.10 for the hop unit and $10.11 for shipping to the UK. Might order it to see if they're still manufacturing them they same way and for the sake of having the proper unit. The CYMA is serving as an emergency repair.

The sites.. There was so many amazing sites. Ex Military, factory, entire industiral areas, shopping centers and TV Stations.

I'd kill for a site like this in the North East. Sounds great.

The majority of sites around me are either; 1: Woodland. 2: Woodland with barricades. 3: Indoor purpose build CQB.

I'd love to play in an abandoned MOD site, factory/chemical complex, shopping center etc.

  9. Hey everyone. Just been testing my MP5 prior to attending a skirmish and found that the hop didn't appear to be making a difference to what the BBs were doing. After stripping the gun down and inspecting the hop unit it appears that the sliding part of the hop unit has been sheared/snapped off (potentially by the techs who worked on my gun) meaning the hop cannot be adjusted. After some googling I can only find one place with a original G&G MP5 hop unit it stock however it's in Italy. I've found a CYMA hop unit that looks the same but that's in Czech Rep.

Do I absolutely have to use the original G&G hop unit or can I reliably substitute it for anything else?

I'll be ringing the techs tomorrow to ask if they happen to have any spares kicking around.

    Thanks in advance.

My son and his friends, who are all around 13 years old and have just started the hobby, are more inclined to watch people like KM and his limpet-like 'mate' Names Nicco. Thankfully, having experienced what gameplay is actually like, they know that that is not how it is.

Coming into airsoft late gifted me a much more realistic expectation of the hobby. I knew the popular airsoft videos weren't going to be a real depiction of airsoft but holy shit, I didn't realise how bad it was until I played at a couple different fields. I much prefer the airsoft content creators who are more bothered about showing off new/cool fields, guns/gear or just having a giggle with memes/jokes.

Cannot stand the likes of KM or NamesNicco whos whole personality appears to revolve around him being an ex squaddie and thats it. The majority of airsoft youtubers rub me up the wrong way because it doesn't show the average player experience.

  11. Worst: G&G MP5A4 simply because I haven't skirmished it since upgrades. Originally, it felt like the gun had lethargy and would barely cycle on semi. Full auto was hilarious. It was like I could hear the spring compress and struggle to get that last bit of compression before the gears would cylce enough and let the gun fire. Post upgrade testing; this thing is nuts. Turned it into a high speed build and holy shit, on a 11.1v LiPo it's fast af. Just wish they made aftermarket MP5 triggers.

This worst gun could very quickly change as I think i'm close to securing a deal on (what I think is) a G&G CM18 Mod 1. The idea is to fix up some small issues with it, give it a bit of TLC and see if my brother wants to airsoft. If not, turn it into a little project gun, see what I can do myself.

Best: Krytac LVOA-C. Aesthetically it's fantastic. Changed the stock to a Magpul CTR one, changed to a Prometheus 6.03 barrel. Only real negative about this gun is the hop unit, specifically the hop arm. Attempting to use anything other than the original Krytac nub/tensioner was pointless. I eventually gave in and bought a Laylax/Prometheus metal hop unit which has a much better hop arm that can accept aftermarket nubs without issue. Gearbox might be noisy but it's always performed well and, so far, just keeps on working.

Thanks for the info about the duty etc, useful data as I might be buying an HPA-tapped mag from France (185 EUR, so I'll be expecting to pay 'stuff' for that)

Can only give my own experience but I ordered my ESS Profile Pivots from Powair6 which is in France I believe. About 150EUR and I didn't get charged duty/extra tax or anything. If you're looking for HPA stuff in the UK try Airtac.me or highpressureairsoft.co.uk

  13. Finally, pictures of my 'finished' G&G MP5A4 EBB. In the second pic you can see the rear drum sight is chipped, still looking for a replacement. Upgrades/changes as follows;

    • Rocket Airsoft high torque motor
    • Rocket Airsoft 12:1 high speed gears
    • ZCI 240mm inner barrel
    • Maple Leaf Macaron Bucking
    • Maple Leaf Omega Nub
    • Gate Pico SSR3 MOSFET (just to let the gun run 11.1v LiPo)
    • CYMA MP5 Low profile mount
    • Nuprol M110 Spring
    • Rocket Airsoft Rotary Bearing spring guide
    • New Guarder tappet plate
    • Rocket Airsoft Piston
    • Full metal piston rack
    • CYMA metal RIS handguard
    • Standard Tamiya connections rewired to Deans
    • Genuine HK 3-point sling (I believe)
    • ASG B&T Tracer unit. Changed the outer sleeve with a knock off one which fits perfectly and removes the ugly trademarks.
    • Olight Odin with tapeswitch.

Gun no longer 'twangs' when fired and has a high RPS but I haven't got a chrono to tell properly. 11.1v 30c batteries get toasty after a lot of semi fire. FPS is a steady ~339. Hopefully going to take it to a CQC field later this week and put it through its paces.

I bought some red retro-reflective tape and wrapped it round the centre of my BFG. You can't see it when it is in the pouch, but makes it noticeable enough once thrown, either outside because of the red colour of the tape or in dark areas it is easy to see the reflections when sweeping the area with a torch. I also have my name and mobile number written on the side of my grenade in silver permanent marker, just an extra level of insurance in case I do loose it and someone finds it at a later date.

Good idea with the reflective tape. For ID/proof of ownership I was thinking of a couple things. One being using a white marker on the bottom of the grenade and clear coating it or two; seeing if there's anyone local to me who can laser engrave my UKARA and mobile beneath the screwcap, near the firing pin. Problem is that it's a small surface area and i'm not sure how much they need to work with.

  15. I have a SOTAC XPS3. Bright enough to be visible even during the sunniest of days to the point where I even turn it down a bit just to save battery. I much prefer eotechs/holographics style of optics for the large 'target window'. I can't get away with stuff like micro red dots, T1/T2 etc or I haven't found one that works for me.

I tried using a sight protector but found that it caused me more issues than it was worth and just removed it.

Those are OpsCore AMP Arms, or a clone of them. They're a fantastic bit of kit and IMO both hold earpro a bit more evenly on the head and are easier to swivel off the head than the two-prong wire ones that attach to the top rail. Plus they allow you to use your upper rails for whatever.

Gotcha. I'll wait for @TipsyDiver to reply as I want to know their exact headset setup so I can get a gauge on quality. It looks like a set of Earmor M32 but i'm not totally sure.
