Thank you - would this be the case when it happily spins the motor with the motor out of the grip, and fires one shot/cycle (only) when the motor is in the base of the gearbox, before then not spinning the motor in or out of the gearbox? Perhaps the shock from that one cycle of the gearbox is enough to shift the position of the trigger assembly, such that the trigger can no longer actuate the trolley?

Patrol Base have rear wired V2 gear boxes by Delta Armory for £24.99 at the moment. Quick change spring, SHS metal toothed piston, SHS tappet plate. Only 7mm bushings, and no idea who the OEM is, but seems a good deal! https://www.patrolbase.co.uk/delta-armory-complete-version-2-gearbox-for-m4-ar-15-aeg

So - I've re-built a V2 gearbox - nothing fancy, standard wiring and trigger contacts, no mosfet or anything like that. Connecting up the motor wires to a motor outside of the receiver to test trigger function - spins the motor absolutely fine. Assemble into a lower receiver, attach the grip, motor etc, and it fires a single cycle, then nothing more. No motor function at all - it's not a lock-up of the gearbox, because after removing the gearbox from the receiver, and connecting the motor to its wires outside of the gun, the motor will not spin when the trigger is pulled - completely dead. Disassemble the gearbox, check all wires are undamaged, solder joints good etc, and then reassemble the gearbox - test the motor outside of the rif - spins fine. Pop into the receiver, and again - single cycle, then everything once again dead. Repeated this process another two times - same results! Any ideas? This is made all the more painful as its not a quick change spring gearbox, and the ARL is particularly murderous in this example.

It's been said above, but full flap (double) M4 pouches comfortably (and neatly) each take two MP5 mags side by side. E.g. the issued osprey double mag pouches that can be had for a few quid off ebay. That's between 6 and 8 mags on the front of your plate carrier dependant on the size of the carrier.

I'm with you with the drawstring behind the head - surprisingly secure. BUT - the tip regarding stuffing the unfolded paperclip into the hats brim - either you have a tiny head or a supply of very big paperclips!

I use mesh in the woods - opinions are mixed, but personally I am very confident in them - lots of hits at various ranges, and they have shrugged them off. Theoretical possibility of BBs breaking up and particles going through, but should that happen, I am confident said particles would be more an irritation than a danger. https://www.patrolbase.co.uk/nuprol-shades-mesh-glasses-eye-protection?fv=5297&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjw59q2BhBOEiwAKc0ijdfKfZisTXqVrTj8lsUQPyfJNNaLap0L_MCH2kAYYsavH_S8w_9LUBoCBDIQAvD_BwE Indoors, due to the extreme close ranges, I use full goggles, combined with the novritsch anti fog system suck on the back of my helmet. Googles are the Pyramex V2 - which actually are identical/are the OEM for the Nov goggles. On their own, they are pretty low profile, with good all round visibility, and actually really excellent antifog properties. But, combined with the anti fog unit, and I have never had fogging, even super hot and sweaty, static, in a cold building. You are right to ask about the noise though - you can hear a low hum/whine, even when the unit is wound down to its slowest setting (which frankly, is all that is ever needed). I suspect outdoors it mostly wouldn't be noticeable, but at times in a dark and silent building, it can be annoying.

What needs to be done (if anything) to maintain hi-cap magazines, and ideally, to prevent several BBs jamming against each other where they are first picked up by the cogs/wheel?

Load-Out / Loadout Picture topic
The_Lord_Poncho replied to Nutster's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
Strong look, Dragon Supplies? When I was in, I once wore to a multi-unit event a set of identical combats combined with a threadbare windproof smock that was so old it was almost white. I looked awesome, but it turned out that this view was not universally held but the senior echelons of pretty much every other unit in attendance! -
As an alternative viewpoint, I used a cheap aliexpress propane adapter without incident for almost three years until the rubber sealing gasket eventually tore and i couldn't be bothered to try to replace it. At less than a fiver to buy with postage, i thought that reasonable. I may of course have just got lucky!

When I upgraded my L96 (not a TM, but same sounding issue), the bolt would not lock back because the piston that I had added to it was a fraction too long, and was not moving back far enough to catch on the trigger sear. This was relatively easily rectified with a few MMs taken off with a file from the rear of the part of the piston that should be caught by the sear. If yours has sorted itself out, then smashing, but if it rears its head again, something to think about maybe.

Elite Force 'Umarex' HK416 A5 ERG (KWA)
The_Lord_Poncho replied to Doyley83's topic in General Discussion
Caveated by the fact that i don't have any 416 specific advice to dispense, but I do note that generally electronic recoil systems are viewed with some suspicion - being something that can frequently go wrong, and adding additional complexity to the innards of the gun. -
Looks like spare mags are now available: https://www.18airsoft.com/products/cyma-15-rds-magazine-for-cm136-mp443-grach-aep-airsoft-cyma-c335 or https://www.taiwangun.com/aep-magazines/cm-136-magazine-with-lipo-battery-11-1v-350mah-cyma

I have fully switched to 18airsoft now for Hong Kong based sellers. A reasonable range, orders mostly turn up in circa 7-14 days, and comms are excellent.

Oh, that looks very different from mine. I think I'm going with JG for the time being, not least because of the black gearbox...

Whats the general rule of thumb when it comes to fps/J?
The_Lord_Poncho replied to Yashy's topic in General Help
As above, 1 Joule tends to be the lowest limit for the various CQB sites in my local area too. They also have a limit on BB weight though - max .25. At 1J power, it might be worth experimenting with your BB weight outdoors, as .28 (and heavier) doesn't always equate to better range, especially when your gun is running at the lower power levels. -
Thanks - some minor differences by the look of it. And I'm very jealous of your quick change spring!

If you are looking for getting new wheels moulded (great idea!), might it potentially be worthwhile looking at getting some tighter fitting arms done too? On all my ZCI rotaries (and i have a lot!) there is rather a lot of sideways play/slop when the arm is in its channel on top of the unit. I recently invested in a few Delta Armouries 'beserker' hop up bundles - rubber, nub - and an 'upgraded' arm - which fits the ZCI perfectly, and being a touch wider is a more snug fit on the unit with much less sideways play.

Many thanks - see below - does this give you enough detail? I'm not sure If SRC plastic is better than JG plastic - but this does feel pretty thick/solid/non creaky if that is anything to go by....
-
I use a mesh lower mask that includes separate mesh ear 'cups' - worst case would be that your hearing aids fall out but would be retained within the mesh for you to safely retrieve I would think. Something along these lines: My goggles strap sits above the top of the mesh ear cups, so i would presume that your current set up's strap would too. Certainly worth a try, they don't cost much, and your breath can rather freely escape (certainly easier than the balaclava style face protection that you seem to use) which helps with reducing fogging..

Thanks all. Yep, will strip it down further and see. Quite a nicely balanced little package actually.

Picked up an old G36C+ a classic 'Bag of Bits' from a friend for £40. The rif seems pretty solid, nicely trademarked, and is marked with UMAREX licencing details on the magwell. Shoots quite nicely actually at circa 1J. I've been researching who the OEM could be, as I'm quite tempted to give the gun the love it deserves, and a bit of searching indicates Umarex have used a plethora of OEMs over the years for their G36s, including Cyma, JG, Ares, S&T. Does anyone know who the OEM is of this particular version? The gearbox is black painted metal - which makes me think it i possibly JG? If so, I'd be rather pleased! And if so, anything that I should look to swap out/replace for performance and longevity?
-
As above, first issue to check is that the mag is fully gassed. Remember to fill the mag with the mag and gas bottle upside down.

CM098/Cyma SR25 - i'm looking at you.....

I mean, we all know that we are each going to end up just getting both. I'm not sure why we carry on this pretence!
