  1. It comes with age apparently. Unlike maturity

  3. Glad you're both safe!!! Shall we start a motorbike appreciation thread to go alongside the Family History one? LOL Brother inherited this and doesn't ride bike's - said I could have it but SWMBO put the kibosh on it... He also had these: Had a very happy summer getting them "ready" for selling. Honda hadn't been run for nearly 15 years - started on the third try - once I remembered to turn the fecking fuel on. I stand to inherit an AJS 550 - as long as the old man rebuilds it before he goes.
  4. It's a shame that all the "bad guys" uniforms are invariably the best looking too.
  5. My nan's life was recorded on tape (born 1902), but she was so old it was out of order and garbled - it took hours for my dad to listen and transcribe. I have a short version somewhere on my office PC. I need to ask dad why she never mentioned what the soldiers of the family got up to. Personally I think it is because they never spoke of it. I know my Pathfinder uncle was very quiet about what happened during his service. He was an unnervingly quiet person, yet very kind. Honourable grandparents on the other side would have been children at the time, but hopefully we can get some tales from them when the boy moves there in a few months. Thankfully my dad has been spending a lot of time researching his history and while I know there isn't much past the mid 1800's (we come from farmhands in Norfolk) I think he's found some interesting stuff from the turn of the century and WW2. 6. Will be interesting for me to see what my son can get from his grandparents on both sides due to his dual heritage.
  7. Agreed 👍 \was watching some videos this afternoon of some veterans visiting old battlefields and saying we should remember those that fell over those that lived.
  8. We have my nan's life recorded in pretty good detail - including some grim stories from when she was an ARP warden. My Uncle was a Pathfinder, and another Uncle was nominated in dispatches for an expedition in Burma. I'm embarrassed that I don't know more details. I do remember seeing a picture of him in the field and thinking "I wouldn't fuck with that guy". I'm going to get the links my dad found on it.
  9. Frankly I'm more worried about stolen valour than I am offending various political sympathies. I might draw the line at SS and Nazi stuff, but I am not aware enough of the various military insignia to notice or be otherwise informed enough to be offended.
  10. As if you have to ask.... Look at what we call a hobby FFS 🤣
  11. Not sure if its still in stock, but we have this saved for emergencies: https://www.actionhobbies.co.uk/products/ics-l85-l86-charging-bolt-handle-set/
  12. I often joke about the time my brother brought his German girlfriend to our dad's house to meet the family - including my recently wedded Japanese wife. My dad's humorous reposte to my brother and I was: "FFS will I ever get a daughter in law not part of the axis of evil?". Thankfully the German lass wasn't within earshot, and SWMBO's English wouldn't have computed. It was fecking funny at the time 🤣🤣🤣🤣
  13. Your dad maybe a sock snob, but i'm turning into a boxer short snob after the last heat wave... I now have a growing collection of under crackers from Sheath and they've made running around in the heat much more comfortable. https://www.sheathunderwear.com/ Bear in mind I'm a plumber (hvac engineer) so working in heat is uncomfortable all year round.
  14. I feel a Charlton Heston quote coming on LOL
  15. Game of good old fashioned Mercy? I was champion at that. Anyway, new boots arrived and fit nicely. Problem is.... The boy got tackled at school yesterday playing American football. Ie when I grew up "sissy rugby", and occasionally, rugby league with body armour. Anyway. The big softy had a bad sprain to his wrist and the doctor said no airsoft or drumming. Now I could be a big meany pants and go alone, but I'm not that much of a barsteward. 😜
  16. Would we be classing them as a developed nation though? I get what you mean though and if things were as simple as some of our posts here make out, life on earth would be much better than it is.
  17. This is why I do not have a TV license and why I'm leaving the country. 😁
  18. Its amazing that a hobby consisting of toys with such lax manufacturing tolerances can rely on components measured to a fraction of a millimetre.
  19. "Don't be a dick" or "Don't be a genital" are a set of universal rules that trump most religions and philosophies for how to deal with life the universe and everything. Its a shame our political classes and traffic wardens haven't been introduced to them.
  20. I'd be interested to see a non developing country with a higher violent crime death rate per capita with stricter gun control laws. There's an interesting interactive world map here: https://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/murder-rate-by-country Certainly taught me a few things. I watch a lot of "lawTube" and America does get some things right.... But gun culture, education and health it certainly does not. This case about ChatGPT is fecking hilarious to listen to (https://www.nytimes.com/2023/06/08/nyregion/lawyer-chatgpt-sanctions.html). I say this having just signed my son up to an international school that uses the University of Nebraska High School curriculum. Your participation in a UK forum is admirable in that you are apparently interested in the happenings outside your nation's borders. Next you'll be telling us you own a passport 😁. I've certainly enjoyed reading your contributions and linked pages. One of the reasons I enjoy this hobby is because I like the aesthetic and feel of guns... don't want a real one though - is that strange? I just go to my dad's house/land and use his shotguns for clays and vermin. big kids with grown up money ..... very dangerous combination 🤣 especially on a Friday night when booze is involved.
  21. Glad to say that I've had no issues with any of the sites I've played at. Look around find a better field to play at.
  22. The rest of the world, except maybe south Africa disagrees with you.😉
  23. I've ordered a pair of 13M Iturri desert boots for myself.... Hopefully they'll come tomorrow for pewing Sunday.
