  1. EBay is your friend if you're looking for for army surplus. Accessories and pouches are fairly cheap, but the price of the actual carrier has gone up.
  2. They're bastard fiddly though when you have chubby fingers, and in my case very little feeling in one thumb
  3. Good to know. Have bought a couple of boxes from the classifieds so I can make a DMR for the boy, and maybe a "cursed" build of some sort for my Specna.
  4. Interesting post. Thanks for the update, and confirmation that my experience wasn't a one off... Barring the fax machine. Which one could put down to me not giving enough notice before the flights. I'm back over at Christmas, so might have another butchers at the akihabara shops. 👍😂
  5. If you are looking at cartilage damage, the operation is minor, btu can take an age to get on the NHS - best get yourself in the system for an MRI so they can pick it up early and take out minimal material. My first time round I left it so long that I was losing serious time out of the working day waiting for the damn thing to reset itself. Ended up getting a private scan in Japan to speed things up as the NHS wanted to wait 6 months just for the scan. Once that's done, the operation, if needed, is often scheduled quite quickly. Speaking from the perspective of having it done twice - once the day before the 7 7 bombings. Then the second time, I was got my operation done literally the day before the first lockdown. Any later and I would have been fecked.
  6. Certainly when it comes to knees and general weight. But then with age comes all sorts of regrets about what could have been in one's youth. Its one of the frustrations of being a father to a grumpy teenager. Mind you, I don't think the current generation of teenagers and twenty something's even know how to have real fun. Certainly when I look back to the shenanigans I got up to some 30 years ago LOL.
  7. Sorry for the hijack, but quick question... Would one of those ics boxes fit the boy's L85? And would the g&g boxes other m4 brands?
  8. Yep... I've done the Homer Simpson spinning on the floor dance many times because of the pain and not being able to stand up. LOL
  9. I'm half expecting the fucker to suck the bbs back up the barrel now LOL.
  10. If you're on the larger side, and work a lot kneeling down, your cartilage is possibly goosed. Years of rugby, motor bike crashes and working as a plumber has meant both my knees have had the cartilage trimmed down and tears removed. Sometimes my left knee pops out of its joint and you can hear it go back in..... from a few metres away apparently. Freaked the shit out of one of my new employees the other week when we were working together and he was in the next room 🤣🤣🤣. Told him that it should be a lesson to him to wear knee pads.
  11. Yeah - ended up order this one https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/144019574727 which i think @RostokMcSpoons also has. Not sure what the weird plate is with loads of holes and numbers, but I'm sure it'll be fine. I now have to look at the boys M16 which is not feeding.... Stand by for a separate thread on that one 😁
  12. I'd say it has snapped through fatigue. Looking at how gearboxes work recently and trying to get mine back together, that particular bit where it snapped is taking the brunt of the rotational forces as well as being hit by that timing plate as it comes round.
  13. My dad has been on the 5:2 diet for years and he is in great shape for his age (78 this year). He's had one knee replaced as well which has helped. I'm thinking about it, but my biggest issue is booze. I could probably use a light loadout, but i keep adding to it instead LOL. 18 stone for me was a long time ago. Think I'm around 21 - 22 stone now.
  14. Well..... Change it to MTP and you probably wouldn't be far off.
  15. Found the answer - in case anyone is interested - they Brassards fit any size vest. Have ordered some small ones to see if they look a bit less Garry Glitter.
  16. Thanks for all the information. I am thinking about a new nozzles as there doesn't appear to be an O-ring in there, nor a groove for it to live. I have a micrometre which was a god send for sorting out the packet of shims - although there were a couple that were neither one size nor the other wen compared to the packet listing. As far as I know the timing delay plate was OEM. The only other person to work on it was Cage Airsoft, and I think I only paid for a new inner barrel, bucking, nub and shimming. The new gear set were the Specna 16:1 from Patrol base, so hoping it is matched to the Specna piston. The spur gear was the only one that wasn't stripped of teeth so I have kept it. I haven't counted the teeth, but I think it was a 16:1 set in there, so should be OK to go with the other two gears? Currently trying to resist the urge to by a Chrono now - but with 13 guns between me and the boy, I think I have enough potential tech work in our collection to justify it LOL.
  17. Whelp.... We'll see how it goes on the weekend LOL. Bloody airsoft... We complain about the tolerance on one hand, then rely on sloppiness with the other 🤣
  18. When I say the seal was rubbish, I'm looking at it from my professional perspective of leaking natural gas and things going boom. To my mind there should be no way of pushing the cylinder all the way down. Which certainly wasn't the case. Although there was a definite resistance. I was wondering what the holes in the piston head were for though. Edit* Might have found the answer... https://youtu.be/RCUB6_JS76Y
  19. Balls.... Guess I'll have to take it apart again 😁 Do we know why it needs to be loose? The air seal was shyte between Piston and cylinder head. Now pondering whether the gearbox will take 11.1v batteries too LOL.
  20. Decided to get all the accessories for the osprey MK 4 body armour. The half collar, shoulder pads and brassards arrived and are fine, except the brassards I ordered were the large ones (because I'm a chunky boi). They do look a bit daft though, so I'm wondering if the small or medium sizes would fit the big boy vest? I can't work out if the large brassard designation is for the piece itself or the platform it's going to be attached to. As always, thanks in advance.
  21. Well I thought, sod it, I need to learn. So took it apart, being careful with the shims (drew the gears on a piece of card, and marked the top and bottom, placing the shims accordingly. Gave a modest smear of silicone grease on all the contact points. Then decided to augment the piston oring.... Which was looser than a wizard's sleeve. So just to piss Mr Luke off, I carefully (because I'm a plumber and spin this stuff out of my rear orifice) wrapped ptfe in the groove of the piston Under the oring. Now hear me out.... Nothing pisses a decent plumber off more than seeing ptfe on the threads of a fitty. It's retarded. However, carefully wrapped around the pipe BEHIND the olive is a good way to fix a leak. This is what I did to the pew pew. How effective it is we will see at chrono next week. All reassembled and I'm very pleased with the sound and feel. So hopefully the hop uniit, bucking and the rest of what is essential to slinging small plastic balls at random strangers is on good order. Also rather pleased that I managed this all in the space of 90 minutes, with distractions. That sodding anti reversal latch was the worst. Especially when the trigger pinged out as well taking its spring with it. Definitely going to get some of those clips!
  22. Was a present from a customer for SWMBO by way of an apology for me having to work late on the eve of her 50th. Trouble is she's T total 😁
  23. On the other hand.... Having a child gives you someone to clean your pews:
  24. Just had a successful mag dump into a bucket. Don't have a chrono, but feels good. Question now is do I have the guts to strip it back down and add some greese. I guess it comes down to how likely my previous problems were down to missing teeth on the gears.
