  1. In non-Brexit news, Novritsch replied saying 'everything is fine, nothing to see here' etc, and fair enough DHL have updated their status a few times in short order such that my stuff is now on British soil, and in the hands of our esteemed friends at HM Revenue & Customs.
  2. Ok, next thing is my rate of fire does feel really chuggy when I'm dry-firing it. I'm comparing it to my CA M16 which quite frankly sounds like it's got a mad RoF on a LiPo since m'Tech did his servicing on it, but my TM AK47 (also serviced) is noticeably faster too. Maybe Jake and I are both being afflicted by the same problem, though mine has take a bit longer to become noticeably poor. If the whole thing was under-lubed to start with and has dried out after a few games that might be an issue...? Or is that a bit of a reach? Or is it another sign of a weak spring? To be honest I'd have thought weak spring = higher RoF, not lower, but I'm willing to hear opinions. Could the motor need raising / lowering? A worst case scenario popped into my head - could my gears have lost some teeth?
  3. I'm still waiting on my chrono to turn up, but it's in the UK so shouldn't be long. Then I'll be able to show some 'before' figures. see what it's like with 0.20s and no hop, and with 0.28's both hopped and not. I'll order an M100 spring now, so hopefully I can swap it over in short order and get some 'after' figures quickly too. Honestly the only time I actively felt out-ranged by a non-sniper on Sunday was when I was up against one of the two HPA players. Hey, maybe my tactical movement and fieldcraft is so brilliant I got so close I didn't need range I'd had plenty of time on the range to get my hop nicely dialled in before play... I was getting the most out of what it had to give. I was hitting the small metal "40m" sign quite easily, I guess I kept my engagements to that sort of distance. (Which reminds me, you may remember me talking about one of my first games where I used my old M16 and the tech found it wasn't applying any hop..? I got some 'disbelief' when I said I was getting ranged kills with that. Turns out it was shooting rather hot - I'd missed the chronoing session as I'd arrived late and with my kit in a shambles... so it was running quite a bit above the AEG limit. 😳 Luckily (for the poor buggers I was hitting) it was misfeeding on full auto so I was only using it on semi anyway.) edit: While I'm ordering stuff... any recommendation on the hop rubber and nub? As the current setup is lifting 0.30s ok, then it's not strictly necessary... but I'm paying a few quid postage so might as well make it all worthwhile
  4. Cheers. It does seem that TM are quite resilient, certainly compared to my HFC.
  5. Thanks @Adolf Hamster I hadn't realised CO2 suffered badly like that as well... better than green gas but still not great That really kills off any thought of buying that new mag. TM Hi Capa still on my chrimbo list though # Edit: Awwwww crap I keep saying Hi Capa when I now probably mean a TM M45A1 ... the new tactical 1911 with the 15mm BBU in it. The only problems with that gun are: the price at places that actually hold stock (~£160 upwards), and the grips which I just don't like the look of.
  6. Awww that's cool. And reminded me of my toy gun collection... A Mauser 98-style rifle with a working bolt and dummy cartridges that it could eject. That was so cool that when I started to outgrow it I cut off the butt plate and made a wooden extension for it. An SLR that fired little grey plastic bullets (Airfix again! Mine was all black but here's the wooden stock version, surprisingly realistic looking https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jFye5s3qrlc) I pestered my dad into making me a Sten and an Mp40 too. As he was good at woodwork and DIY they came out very well Three plastic kit replica pistols from either Tamiya or LS, they were 1:1 scale... I had a .25 ACP auto, a Python .357 Magnum and a P38. All with dummy bullets and working actions. They must have been quite sturdy as I can't remember them breaking to the point I couldn't glue them back together. Blimey, what goes around comes around... regressing back to childhood... well over 50 years old and playing with toy guns again
  7. Loki, if you're not aware, CO2 works fine on all weather, whereas the normal green gas pistols terms to perform very badly once it gets below 6C. Like mine 😑 CO2 is more expensive to run, which is why green gas is a little more popular. But I've got no experience with them so I'll shut up 😋. I might buy a CO2 magazine for my M9, though I've been advised it'll kill my gun quickly. There's also the option for an electric pistol, but without the power of gas, and the absence of blowback action, it's a much less exciting experience... Good if you want a secondary that is the cheapest to run and will almost always work though! That nighthawk does look very nice. But.. out of stock
  8. I vaguely do, but not even my rich cousin had that! He had Ricochet which was my most favourite thing ever Slightly more related to pew-pewing, I really wanted Tin Pan Alley. I didn't get that, I ended up with two proper air rifles and eventually a .22 rimfire target rifle. So swings and roundabouts 😋
  9. Oh yeah sorry I forgot about that advice... Some nice modern looking guns in that selection too. I had a thread about Army Armaments Vs TM Hi-capa which covered some of those
  10. I've got an HFC M9 which is quite nice to hold and fire but it's useless in the Great Outdoors at this time of the year. After a couple of shots the slide doesn't cycle hard enough and eventually it just de-gases this may be common to most gas blowback pistols at this time of year though. Certainly seen others do it too It doesn't seem to take gas as well as it did when it was new so the seals in the mag aren't very resilient, but have come back to life a bit once I sprayed some silicon through it and learned to keep gas in the magazine all the time. In conclusion, save up for a Tokyo marui 5.1 hi capa, £130 and it'll be as good as a gbb pistol can be... Or so I'm told ☺️
  11. Yup! Rolson Tools 60335 Heavy Duty Helping Hand with 60 mm Magnifying Glass (packaging may vary) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B001BMSBD4/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_H1D6WYR3QWARNZH913KQ?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
  12. Thanks @Fatboy40 I've got a cheap chrono come over from China, and I was planning to change the spring eventually. Given that info I'll do it as soon as the chrono turns up. It'll also give me a chance to give the internals a look (though probably not as far as opening the gearbox) and maybe get some silicon grease onto the piston head.
  13. Just yesterday a pair of hands turned up. Luckily not in a "what's in the box" sort of style I bought the cheapest ones on Amazon, which do happen to be 'Rolston' branded. £9 They're errrr.... ummmm ... .... ... 'OK'-ish? Very light weight but I'm not averse to using a little G clamp or big lump of blu-tack to immobilising it/them. But the butterfly nuts to clamp the arms in place... only really work with a pair of pliers for leverage. Not sure they'll stand up to much as they're a bit flimsy. However I'll reserve judgement for when I do some more soldering. At least they were dirt-cheap!
  14. Yeah, Brexit. What a clusterf*ck. My sister-in-law works in logistics, it's been a disaster. Yeah sorry @Solar for dragging this out of the history books, but I spotted this post last week when reading the TW thread... it hasn't aged well ;D Anyway, unless DHL just never bother updating their statuses until delivery, then the real issue I have is that it seems it's not got as far even being in their hands yet... Novritsch are the ones dragging their heels and no-one can blame Brexit (yet)
  15. @rj1986 That was definitely cool. I don't think I ever saw one in action, I'll be searching YT for it It also puts me in mind of the rather older "Flight Deck"... https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/27342/flight-deck I can't remember if I got it for birthday or Xmas, but I do know that a) It was a brilliant idea b) the long lengths of fishing line that suspended the plane got tangled up in 0.07 nanoseconds and it never worked again. I still had fun with the model plane and the flight controls, but I bet my dad was pissed off that I wrecked it before he got a go
  16. On my 906C there's a small hex bolt on a thread that you can see through a slot in underside of the handguard, close to the receiver. I think you just loosen that off to detach the handguard from the top receiver. And there's a small hex bolt at the front end of the handguard that also needs undoing. I've not had to take my handguard off, so maybe I've missed something! Also - I can access the grub screw without doing that (which is nice) - I'll be needing to do that as I've got a suppressor on the way. Edit... Pic of the two things I'm talking about... Well wouldn't you believe it. The suppressor I was talking about is a Novritsch one that I ordered on Black Friday... but a little before that I'd ordered a cheapo one from AliExpress, and it's just turned up! So I had good reason to take the flash hider off mine. I had no problem with the grub screw, and no problem with the flash hider either. No thread lock goo found in mine. I fitted the suppressor and managed to chew up some of the thread as it's quite fine and very soft and my first attempt wasn't quite done right... so do take care when fitting your tracer (of course, if it's a reputable make it might only go on 'properly'). And I noticed when trying the flash hider back on my slightly mangled thread that it's (now?) quite loose, so that grub screw is important - don't lose it! Anyway the result is rather nice, though the finish is a little too shiny, i might rough it up with a brillo pad or some polishing paper. It'll get replaced anyway when my Novritsch modular one turns up, complete with camo cover for a different look... but not bad for less than a tenner!
  17. Yeah, I've made a faux pas with dealing with Satan and all his minions, and admitting it in public. But I did spot some stuff in the Black Friday sale that really took my fancy, so I've paid my coins to Beelzebub, and there's just nothing any of us can do about that now. My purchase was on the 26th November. Shortly after I got an email saying 'order completed'. But DHL (who may also be the Devil, or just in league with him) have had the same status of 'electronically notified' since then. So basically as far as I can tell, they've packed up my order but it's not even in transit yet. Is this unusual? What happened to all that Germanic / Austrian efficiency? Is it all DHL's fault? Have I been 'Brexited'? I have pinged Novritsch an email to chase, but no reply yet. edit: Oopsie. Just noticed I should have put this in the 'Places to buy' section. Sorry about that.
  18. Another fun day at Special Ops. Might be the last of the year for me though which makes me sad.... Some really enjoyable flanking moves to pop a few people from behind... and a couple of "oh shit" moments in point-blank encounters The photographers never seem to get me running around. Probably because I can't do much with these arthritic knees and spaghettified ankles Slow and sneaky my preferred method of attack DE M906C performing great through the day, so the AK still didn't get to strut its stuff. Edit: Ooh, found an 'action' shot, here's me doing a semi-panicked tactical reload out of my fast mag pouches
  19. Hah. Two cat towers and a stand alone post for our spoiled but hugely loved (and huge) ragdoll cat. I was always a dog person until our daughter brought home her cat! And err yes. That there Airsoft, it's great innit. Ahem.
  20. I ran two Turnigy nano cell 11.1v 1200 mah lipos through the day today. Rate of fire was noticeably better but the gearbox was whining a bit at the end... Not sure if that is normal after running through several thousand BB's, I'll have to find a video of 'shimming, before and after' to judge. Plenty of kills at range even though my gun chrono'd at a slightly disappointing 270fps with 0.20g but hopped for 0.28g BB's. If the spring has weakened already then the extra juice might be over stressing things...?
  21. Which reminds me.... I found that the cat scratcher pads made out of corrugated cardboard make an excellent BB catcher when they're worn out and good only for the bin. They don't catch every shot, but have minimised the number of BB's lying on the lawn. They absorb most of the shots, and quietly too
  22. You got a 'careful now' because honesty is not always the best policy!
  23. @Enid_Puceflange That's a pretty good idea... I've got a cheapo chrono coming from that there China in a couple of weeks, might be tempted to do something similar. What's the 200m of string look like inside? I'm curious! I would have just loosely balled up a scrim scarf and had that there.
