I know, I'm just so hilarious

As for being controversial, I don't really think it is.

This is airsoft. Politics rarely enters into our loadout choices.

How many WW2 'softers who play the Germans are Nazi sympathisers?

How many players at Milsim events who play the taliban/general arabic extremist types enjoy blowing up busses filled with nuns?

How many players who use the Aliens Pulse Rifle have seen active duty in the Colonial Marines?

I'm sure this guy just thinks the IDF look is cool. I'm sure he's never contemplated blowing up a hospital, or firing rockets at civillians or any of the other things Israel are accused of.

So, let me get this right...

You're suggesting, that screaming 'oi f**knugget' and derogatory remarks about various mothers at people down your radio, may not be an effective method of communication?

Good guide though, if more people bothered to us their radios properly, I'd think about using mine more often.

The new GW tools are BEAUTIFUL.

Well, the clippers are. They honestly have outdone themselves with those. Everything else is pretty much the same as you'd expect, the clippers though are REALLY good at not sending bits flying, most hobby clippers I've used tend to want to play aggressive hide and seek with small items that have excellent projectile properties when clipped from sprues.

To be fair though, when I first started doing GW minis, I went to superdrug and got a nail-care kit - containing mini-scissors, nail clippers and a couple of files.

Aside from when I'm out at a GW store or my local club, I never use any 'real' tools, I mostly either use the bits from superdrug (which not only enable me to remove and tidy up my model parts, but also allow me to do my nails at the same time in order to be one fabulous motherf**ker) or random bits I find in my toolbox.

The reason I stuck with the nail clippers? They curve in on themselves slightly where the blades meet, meaning you end up with the tiniest remnant of sprue on your parts which is then easily filed down. I've tried hobby knives and because I'm a northern-monkey with hands the size of the average dinner plate, I tend to either gouge chunks out of stuff or end up with cuts/slices in models - easy to fix, easier if avoided in the first place.

Gonna get some more photos of my minis tomorrow I think...

    Thanks!

    It's much appreciated!

I must say though, my painting isn't particularly skillful, I've mostly just spent a bit of time figuring out what works for me.

I haven't got the patience or skill to do things like proper highlighting and blending so I stay away from them, what I can do, is put some basic colors on and use ink washes to make up for my laziness!

Honestly, if you take an unwashed model, it'll look like a three year old mauled it with a paint brush made of duplo, wash it in brown or black and it'll look halfway to pro-painted.

Next time I do any painting I'll either do a before/after of washing, or a step-by-step how I end up where they are now.

There's one more photo I forgot to get of my Knight titan that I'll try get up soon! I'll also get some of my Star Wars X-Wing fleet.

You can get them online from Games Workshop direct:

If you can get to a GW store, they'll have a set they can show you/demonstrate for you!

Next up I've got the GW-addicts staple, Space Marines, pretty much everyone I know who has ever been into GW has used them, I never got sick of their all-round winability and stuck it out. Besides, mine are Black Templars so they're better anyway, all the other chapters are sissies and heretics.

-Couple of photos of my Sternguard, the middle guy changing his mag is a mashup of kits, but the actual mag change I had to put together myself:

-Vindicator, probably the most awesome looking tank in the game:

    -Terminator Chaplain:

    -Jump Chaplain:

-Tech Marine & Servitor (The CAT objective marker from the previous release of Spacehulk - too cool to not use for something):

-Assault Terminators & Marshall/Chapter Master in Terminator Armour, made from several kits:

-One of the limited edition captains released this year:

    -The other limited edition captain:

Couple of random GW heroes, both dusty due to being on a shelf rather than in my display cabinet for a while:

    -Assault On Black Reach Warboss:

    -Illuminor Szeras:

So I dug my camera out and had a good dig through my display cabinet this morning for some decent models to show off.

The good news is I found a couple.

The bad news is my camera was running out of battery so I've not even got photos of a fifth of the collection.

The worse news is that my camera, despite being a top-of-the-range D-SLR when purchased, how transfigured into a potato and the off-camera flashgun has broken - what this means is that the on-camera flash has exposed EXACTLY how awful my painting is, though I will say that at least everything does look a LOT better in the flesh which is good.

The traumatisingly awful news, is that this is going to be REALLY heavy for anyone on mobile.

First up I've got GW Skaven:

-Couple of shots of the paint scheme for my clanrats. I only do these guys quickly so rather than them looking uniform have been varying the color of the cloth they're wearing to break up the units without having to REALLY focus any attention on every model, the brown-cloth is for slaves:

    -Packmaster & his ogres:

    -Packmaster on his own:

-The bossman, Ikit Claw (IMHO, coolest small character in WHFB):

    -Warplock Engineer:

    -Doomwheel based:

    -And finally the Warpfire Thrower:

My camera is on the fritz again, but I've pulled a couple of crap shots of some of my minis from facebook.

First is a GW Skaven Doomwheel 'WIP' at this stage it just needed basing and then washes/minor highlighting etc but is basically where I wanted it:

Next up, a pair of GW Skaven Rat Ogres from their Island of Blood set once again - 'WIP' - these guys just needed basing and another wash:

Completed GW Skaven Warpfire Thrower from their Island of Blood set:

Completed GW Tyranid Tervigon - he doesn't look *quite* so rubbish in the flesh, the bulb in my display cabinet was a bit too bright when this was taken, as a result some of the more subtle work is washed out (not that I'm much good with a brush either way):

I've got a dozen or so X-Wing minis, way more Skaven, an honest-to-god f**kton of 40k models, a Dystopian Wars fleet and god knows what else kicking about that is yet to be photographed.

Soon gonna be starting a collection of WW2 battleships/carriers I think...

Long story short, we're the best at forumming. And ARRSE is filled with the dregs of the forces who never made it far enough in life to have anything better to do than talking about the forces all day every day and are a bit sore from all the butthurt the modern world provides.

I'm not surprised they're blanks, but to provide those trenches, without even having textures or anything on the mud and those crappy paints etc, and to bill it as an all-in-one starter set for beginners, is a total lie.

As a starter set, you'd really need to be able to just go at it with the contents of the box and get results worth at least a 5/10.

For me to get what I'd count as 5/10 out of that, I'd need to:
-Wash everything to get rid of any residue from the molding process.
    -Cut off all the flash.
-Rework some of the models because they look like bears have molested them.
-Apply some random sanding to the trench mud to ensure the paint bonds properly.
-Prime the whole thing in black.
-Paint everything using far superior paints to what is likely provided, including textured paint for the mud.
-Use ink washes to make it look like it was worth the effort.

Then, and only then, might the set be worth it. Maybe I'm a bit fussy, but I can't imagine any other way to make that look decent!

I don't think it has much to do with the law as such. Z1 were fundamental in putting UKARA together and have always had stakes in it. Based on their performance prior to then (in mine and several acquaintances' experience), if they didn't have to be seen to uphold the core values of their own creation, they'd probably be selling crack to three year olds and using the money to make smoothies out of kittens (really adorable premium kittens too, no gammy street-cats here thank you very much). You can see evidence of what I mean by the way they run their forums, though I shan't go into detail because I don't think it's fair for me, as a mod here, to bash Z-In since it could be taken as biased-BS.

Seriously though, they're alright, just I feel nowadays the VCRA has fallen into obscurity with everyone except customs and if UKARA were to stop existing tomorrow, and everyone went back to pre OCT-2007 behavior, I doubt anyone would notice or care. As far as I'm aware, there hasn't even been a single RIF/IF related case yet where it wasn't to do with some nob shooting people with a BB gun in the center of a town or some shite.
