  1. yes agreed on spares, I've got spare hop unit, trigger unit, body contacts, core pins, wire sets and a gearbox. I always take the spare gear box and wiring to games, so if mine went pffft, I could literally swap in the spare one in the time everyone else is refilling mags between games. its actually easier to change the gearbox than a quick change spring in other guns
  2. I use Warfets or Pico's on mine, fit outside the gearbox. The ICS gearbox wont take an internal mosfet. Not sure on the G&G but I doubt it will either, Gearboxes on SA80 family are a completely different shape and setup than V2/V3 boxes (although the bits inside are v2) ICS L85 takes 510mm barrel ICS L86 takes 610mm barrel ICS will take 11v out of the box (but no reason to) and a huge 7000mah Titan in the handgrip fro all day long play All of the L85s have quirks, But they are known and can be rectified. Personally I'd go ICS, and have more than enough change for a tighter barrel, good hop rubber, Mosfet and a Titan for around the same money as a G&G, plus the ICS is far easier to open up and service. Take off threadlock and tighten the selector switch screw and your golden
  3. I run ICS L85 and L86 loadouts. Both with tight bore barrels, Warfets and a few mods. both are more accurate and out distance my M4's and G36's (especially the L86). The L85 is great handling, better balanced than an M4 as the mass is nearer the shoulder and much quicker to point and aim because of this. Once you're used the the strange mag position they are fine. I run Vortex Spitfire 3x's on them which kind of look ok I also have 2 AA L85's which are fine when rebuilt but the ICS is better and by fitting my own mosfet I avoid the G&G electrics issue and the builds costs less than the G&G including upgrades
  4. Standard green gas is fine, red in winter. All modern TM pistols have metal inserts in the polymer at the key stress points. Hell my hi-cappa's all run on black gas, no issues
  5. As someone who uses pea frag grenades most games, I can see the issue, you've normally got it ready and planned the deployment in your head, then struck the primer, Your only thought at that time is to throw the thing and I suspect that even if hit you are so involved in the aim throw cycle the hit wont even register until the grenade has left your hand So yes, I'd like to say I would drop it, but I bet in reality my reactions (especially at my pensionable age) wouldn't be fast enough to override the preprogrammed throw I was undertaking
  6. Yep, wonder any of us survived to be adults, let alone elderly adults now
  7. Luckily the arrow was a blunt stick and kiddies bow. My 9 year old cousin decided to shoot me from about 5ft away to wake me up (I was 13 and family had stayed over their house) and got me straight in the fortunately closed eye. but bye bye back of eye
  8. put your sights on a 1" riser. sorted. Also means I can wear my glasses without steaming up, have coms built in, only 1 strap to put on/off and amazing vision (no restrictions). Ive gone i4 and Bolle 800 before that, not going back Oh and I can go one better than a Glaive, I lost my right eye to an Arrow !!!!!!. My nickname for years was Harold the 2nd. oh and yes it hurt
  9. I'm slightly short sighted, so need glasses to see in sharp focus past about 15m. But I find what works is no glasses and a 3/4X sight. means I can see perfect detail up to the 50-60m range of my rifs and watch the BB's bouncing off the non hit takers and can see the snipers who think they are invisible. All my Rifs either have Vortex Spitfire 3x (great sight), or the cheaper £60 amazon version (far less eye box, but OK) Pistols I just do fixed sights and that works fine for me out to 25m of so
  10. Heart attack and I'm blind in right eye. Go for it. I wear a Warq to make sure I'm fully protected.
  11. In which case they are lethal barreled weapons under the definition of The Firearms Act 1968 Section 57(1B) defines a "lethal barrelled weapon" as a "barrelled weapon of any description from which a shot, bullet or other missile, with kinetic energy of more than one joule as measured at the muzzle of the weapon, can be discharged". Section 57(1C) excludes from the definition of a "lethal barrelled weapon" any weapon meeting the definition of "airsoft gun" under section 57A. So tag and the above tennis ball thrower are all "lethal barreled weapons", the only possible get out clause is (ae) any rocket launcher, or any mortar, for projecting a stabilised missile, other than a launcher or mortar designed for line-throwing or pyrotechnic purposes or as signalling apparatus;] But tags and this launcher are NOT stabilised and so the exception for pyrotechnic's can't apply
  12. Kinetic energy > 2.5 joules so an illegal firearm Also not designed to fire small plastic missiles so again not an airsoft exemption and a firearm, we are allowed 8mm max I believe Never could work out how Tag rounds are legal airsoft Tennis ball weighs between 56.0g and 59.4g so would need to fire at the lowly rate of 6.68 ms-1 or 22 fps to be energy legal Assuming 100 fps from green gas that would give you a 52 joules hit!!!!! ouch
  13. Thats exactly what every site I've ever played at has, A sheet with the maximum FPS allowed for each BB weight, often stuck on the chrono. You just step up, tell em your BB weight and shoot, FPS comes up, if its over for your weight then hot gun. Does rely on folks honestly stating BB weight, but if folks are not honest enough to say the correct weight they are also naughty enough to turn the hop up a ton to slow the BB or off to allow gas escape or some other way of altering speed. The truth is Joules is an indirect measurement and in reality it is FPS that is measured directly. and unless you start weighing BB's or providing test BB's and then watch RIF being fired at a distant target to check Hop is set etc you are always doing test on trust. Would be nice if sites had the time to do it all properly. And then we have the whole issue of HPA!!! and what gas was used on a refill for GBB's
  14. Ouch, Were you red or Blue? I am the fat bloke in DPM with the Warq on. Shame about the mud! Were you one of the Zombie volunteers, we've not laughed so much in a long time with 30 folks spraying their cover on full auto so they just couldn't move
  15. I skirmish normally both Novi SSX23 (2 screw TDC mod added) and SSP1 (Cutaway barrel and short stroke kit), they've worked flawlessly for last 4 years now, SSP1 now well battered but I love how loud it is. recently got a ASG CZ P-09 and an FNX-45, both of the later are superb and probably better than the SSP1. the P09 would be my recommendation as its cheaper and feels better in the hand
  16. Ambush airsoft and campaign airsoft. Both within a mile of each other where the A3 joins the M25. Shout if your going and you can probably join us
  17. The Words "Nuprol" and "Intelligent" in the same sentence, don't see that very often. Normally see words like Fire, Explosion, Flames, Smoke, Failed, Fire Brigade, Swollen Do yourself a big favour and in it. Get anything by SkyRC, the 65 and 100 series are popular. or a basic B6
  18. Just get a Warq and wear your normal glasses underneath, no steaming and total protection
  19. 5 x UV5R 2 x UV9R waterproof model Run the 18" aerial on them, provide coms for all mates for Airsoft and Skiing. they replaced a swathe of MT50 PMR's I have a licence for them. no issues what so ever with any of them, but I get them from Baofeng UK direct to make sure I dont get fake ones
  20. Didn't know the Germans played airsoft in WW2!!!
  21. Just stick some brown ferns in your kit. 95 still works well in winter if you add browns. MTP is too light in woodland much of the year, its only in opened up areas where grey is introduced that it has any ability at all
  22. I informed the neighbours on both sides long ago what my hobby was, the response in both cases resulted in them coming over and having a go with their kids. When the kids are older I will take them for a skirmish I tend to shoot from inside the back room, out the patio doors, it adds 5metres to the range, and keeps the sound outside down and also means I'm not in view from further away neighbours or long range camera on police helicopters etc S
  23. I wear glasses, but have a Warq, so no issues what so ever Mesh doesnt protect you from dust and flashover from pyro etc (nor do shooting glasses in reality)
  24. Bet your using ASG Blasters, full of random voids
  25. An Airgun IS a real firearm in law, not a realistic imitation of one. Fortunately the public don't make the laws, and the law distinguishes between IF's, RIF's, gas powered firearms (CO2 or air) and real steel firearms. Its ridiculous that airguns have so little regulation when they are 4-6 times more powerful than airsoft RIF's/IF's. I suspect there are hundreds of airguns out there for every RIF and these are the ones that will be on the receiving end of any new legislation I hope
