HuttArmouries got a reaction from m1sterS in Spare parts for rare guns
So recently I grabbed a tokyo marui type 89 and I had seen lots of videos of the nozzle mangling itself so I designed and 3d printed a copy of the tm part. It works just as well as the original and I can replace it indefinitely. This isn't the fist time I've done something like this and im even in the process of designing my own nozzles and fire control mechanisms from the ground up.
So the question is if I offered a service of copying parts in rare guns and making spares or replacements would anyone be interested in that sort of thing? Obviously 3d printing has its limitations but theres no reason that when I have a printed part done the file cant be handed over to a cnc machining company or such particularly for trigger mechanism components.

Type 89 nozzle is done and with a few internal tweaks and some finer print settings its now giving me the same fps and consistency as the tm original piece. Going to be running it this weekend and just dumping mags through it every now and again to see how long it lasts.

Since the bolt is plastic and weighs basically nothing this is the result. Shooting around 340fps with the longer barrel. This is on a we tech glock 19 mag. also added a magnet to keep the charging handle forward.

I forgot to show it in the vid but yes it does lock open on empty. I was just holding the bolt release for the demo

Externally more or less done barring actually testing it. internal measurements are a bit off

Uv resin tends to be quite brittle and not very impact resistant. It would also add significantly to the size of the part and again mess up the tolerances. Besides apart from a cuple of overhangs the fdm prints Im getting are more than smooth enough for the intended purpose

so recently I designed and printed this little smg / pdw that uses glock internals. Its very snappy and works well though I will be tweaking the aesthetics a lot. Here's also another bit from the new thing im prototyping. Im sure you can guess what that is for.

Ill be making the test versions in pla until I have all the sizes right and then im going to experiment with pla+ and petg for the final parts. For my personal use I am happy to change parts every now and again so if it lasts a couple of skirmish days im happy. I might start selling them however in the distant future so I need to be sure they will survive for a good long time on greengas. Not sure how many people have these guns.

So i recently picked up a tokyo marui type 89 gbbr and I love it but ive seen multiple people have the nozzles eat themselves using green gas and heavy bbs and even some nozzle issues in japan with the correct gas. Given that spare nozzles for it are basically unavailable and I dont like running guns I cant get spares for ive started modeling spare nozzles for it. first test is printing now. It will no doubt require tollerancing and tweaking before it works but its a good start. And yes I did forget to put the slope on the very tip of it for feeding bbs XD. Ill put it in with a file for this version and fix it for later tests

Fully working and assembled barring a few bolts, outer barrel and slide release. Lovely and snappy. Looks a bit blank at the mo but by the time I have the sliding stock done it should look a little less barren
