Have you thought about just buying a new hop unit? Email Tactical Quartermaster with the part number from the explosion diagram from the manual that came with the gun and they ought to have you sorted within a few days.

I've got a mate who bought one around October and he can't get enough of it. I've been dying to get a go since he bought it but I've not had the chance to get to a game with him yet =[ I'm seriously considering getting one too. From what I can tell from what he tells me they're really solid performers, like bigger KWA MP9s with a bit more of a rifle vibe going on. He also claims the internals are full steel... Not entirely sure if that's true, I'm personally highly doubtful but it might be worth looking into. £36 per mag doesn't sound too bad though? WE M4 mags are about the same usually. It's also worth pointing out that although the mag's gas reservoir is more than likely smaller than that of an M4 mags', the bolt on the MP5 is much, much smaller. The nozzle will be barely half the length which means the amount of gas required to cycle the action will be significantly less than with a full blown rifle. My mate didn't mention the gas efficiency, but he's only used it in cold weather, so I can only assume it's good enough to be of little to no concern.

What's wrong with those? They're actual guns. The Tars are actually pretty cool, and the top thing is an Owen gun I think, the Aussie special forces used them iirc.

It's AR based if anything. Probably the ARS47u lol. Though actually, I think the S denotes a folding stock, and that one doesn't fold... So an AR47u...gly.

Not really sure where you spouted all the above from, Chock... Where were two tones ever mentioned? There's nothing to suggest two tones are getting painted.

The Sandpit is run by Cerberus too, unless there's 3 sites with that name. Personally I would never go to one of their sites again after the insanely disastrous experience I had from going to The Works for the first time at some point last year. Worst run site I think I've ever been to, and their interest in safety was laughable, never seen so many people cheat, and so much conflicting info being given out by different marshals in all my time airsofting. There's even a public footpath running through the middle of the site, that had dog walkers come along it about 7 times throughout the day (yes, that's not even an exaggeration) and the marshals can't even decide on whether or not it's in play... How no random members of the public have been shot yet is absolutely beyond me. I can't actually believe they're still running... But they do include pie in the price, so they do have at least one redeeming feature. I'll let you make up your own mind though. Go and try it by all means, always interested to hear what other people think of them. But anyway, Brit Tac run games at Bawtry Paintball around the Doncaster area, and there's Tac House: Spartan in Chesterfield too. If you've played at Skirmish's Wentworth CQB site then we've probably met lol, I'm sure your name rings a bell from Facebook.

May have been mentioned already, but I would say to just buy mids and just load them with a real capacity. Gives you more options and makes them a lot easier to sell if you ever want to drop the AK for another gun.

I wouldn't go as far as saying they're useless... But I definitely use the red dot on top of my ACOG significantly more than the ACOG itself. For me reflex/dot sights are the way to go. They're illuminated, so you can still aim in low light, which trumps iron sights. They also trump irons because you only have to line up the dot with your target, you don't have to line up two things with your target. I would say that zoom optics are good for spotting more than anything else. Is that thing over there a tree stump, or a prone guy's painted face? They're also good for walking your team mate's shots on target at range. Up a bit, bit more, bit more... Got him. They don't work with your own shots because you're directly behind them, your angle is insufficient to actually follow their trajectory properly. But if you're just to the side of someone, they're pretty effective; So spotting, Or a red dot.

I can appreciate a long safety brief, so long as it's not read out in an incredibly dull way... Longer ones are generally the mark of a good site in my experience, but I'm talking long whilst being consistently to the point without any interruptions, not long because people ask a million questions or the marshal is verbose and rambles. Tac House are a good example of this, their brief must last easily over 5 minutes but it's well presented and you always get the comedy groans when he says it won't take long. I think it shows they're passionate that the site is run correctly and I have a lot of time and respect for them for that. The worst briefs I've ever had have all been at F&O sites, because the marshals make it plain that anyone who does anything wrong, whether minor or major, purposely or accidentally is, and I quote, "a twat" and I just don't appreciate their attitudes at all. They are marshalling me, not minding me like a child. That said, short, sweet and to the point is also good, but I do not take well to the 30 second exaggerated version of "don't be a dick" I want to hear an actual brief that's been written down and learned, not just some random goings over of things that save time to mention before they actually happen. Airsoft sites are after all, businesses. I expect a certain level of professionalism, and when I don't see that, I black mark the site. If they aren't going to take my business seriously, then they aren't going to have it. It's all well and good keeping the rest of the day light hearted, but a safety brief needs to be serious at heart and my heart and mind can be won and lost over the presentation of it.

Is there supposed to be a link somewhere? A G17 hammer spring will work in a G18. They're actually quite easy to take apart, I used this guide: The G18 is slightly different, but the only difference is the second sear that it uses for full auto. So long as you watch where it comes from and can put it back (which is very easy, I managed it without a guide) then you'll be able to use the video to change the spring.

British army in Afghanistan load out up to date
Airsoft-Ed replied to jackal1982's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
Really picking holes here, but you're using the old style UBACS as well lol. My own loadout isn't really accurate, per se, it's an "impression" I didn't trawl over photos and try to copy them, I just wanted to capture the essence, and I think you've done the same. -
I thought that it was supposed to behave in the cold how standard gasses were supposed to behave in the warmth. Winter to Nuprol 4.0 is like summer to green gas. Or so implies their entire marketing strategy. Fps values sound about right, but for me it's more the ability to fire more often and spam the trigger a bit, so does Nuprol 4.0 allow that? Otherwise I might as well just stick to propane, which has always worked fine for me anyway. Especially considering the cans of it hold about 4 times the amount of gas, for less than half the price.

The CO2 system sounds like utter arse unless they've changed it. Inserting the mag pierces the CO2 capsule, so once the mag's in, removing it = loss off all the remaining gas in the capsule. So no tactical reloads, and it'll also mean de-magging for the safe zone could cost you money in gas. It's such a moronic idea I can't believe they even designed it at all. That said, it does sound very promising as a P* equivalent, and the noise it makes it amazing from the promo game footage.

Was I the only one who read the thread title and thought it was going to be some amusing How To for strapping children to yourself as armour? So disappointed =[

I should really check up on this thread more often. It doesn't fit. Reason being, the ICS version of the flash hider has the threads right at the back end, but on the Ares version, they're recessed about an inch into the flash hider. So you can't put it on the ICS/WE because their barrels don't reach inside it far enough to engage with the threads. The adaptor replaces the little green part at the back of the handguard and it shares the same screws. The rail/adaptor ought to come with a screw to anchor the RIS to the adaptor, and you should be able to use the same screw you've already got to fasten the sling loop back on, which helps clamp the front end tight. Looks like the real RIS to me, or if not, it's a direct clone and not a clone made to attach via a different method. The Madbull clone RIS has a set of rails running down the inside because it slides onto a set of runners that are part of the gas block on the ICS and WE versions. To fit it to the WE you'll need to look at Hornbill's adaptor, I think it replaces the gas block, and possibly another part that attaches to the front of the receiver above the trigger too. Not 100% as I've got the Madbull RIS.

Don't want to skirmish, but want to do rapid target shooting.
Airsoft-Ed replied to Smudgerii's topic in UK Law
I was referring to magazine fed air pistols that use the copper .177 BBs, not the rotary mag style ones that fire the skirted pellets. -
That's what I was referring to in my first post, I've seen it done with paintballs before, pretty sure you could just change the barrel to fit BBs or something.
-
Yeah but the protests going on because of that were because he was unarmed and they shot him anyway, and now the officer who killed him is being let off. So I think it's fair that people are kicking off about it. Looks very much like institutional racism, even if it isn't.
-
Was he even black? I don't even know.
-
You could heavily mod your bow to fire BBs. It's been done before. There's even a paintball bow you can buy as a manufactured thing, I think.

Since it's not a traditional gas mechanism I have honestly no idea what the issue might be, but the only time I can remember ever witnessing anything similar, it was because a part of the trigger mechanism had worn out so the hammer was slipping loose after the bolt reset it. Bolt goes back, hammer gets reset, but then instead of it locking back ready for the next trigger pull, it was just following the bolt back forward. As the bolt passes over it again, it'd just flip up and go after it once it cleared the hammer - stops it falling with full force so it doesn't release enough gas fast enough to cycle the mech, just causes a mag leak/vent. TL;DR, I'd put money on the trigger mech needing a looking at. Though cold weather and bad o-rings can cause mag venting as well. It might be as simple as the release valve on the mag sticking a bit or something.

What an utter bum face. He was probably a dick if he was walking around with a replica gun in public though... Also, Grover, back onto the whole, "You're wrong, Marcus is right" law thing lol. I heard that the kid had removed the orange tip, since all airsoft guns in the US are sold with them on. So if you were to flip it all around and say it'd happened in the UK, that'd just be the same as a kid painting over the two tone on a gun their parents gifted them or something. (Nothing to do with UKARA, which by the way, means UK Airsoft Retailer Association... Retailers don't make laws, or enforce them lol) At the end of the day, no laws protects anyone, it just doesn't protect the people who break them... Can't protect people from stuff once it's already happened and this could definitely happen just as easily in the UK, it probably will some day, it's just a matter of time really.

I use an L85 and I find it the most pig-arsed weapon to manoeuvre in confined spaces ever, and I've been using one for around 3 years now. I think not being able to use it left handed is a death sentence as well. I tend to use my sidearm for left side corners, and when it comes to clearing rooms? Grenades. Lots of grenades. Otherwise it's impossible to do it without losing a man, unless you can get an angle on the door way or approach it from two entrance points simultaneously. I've often wondered how the military teach room clearance, because I just can't see how it's possible to get your men through a narrow space without the first guy being massacred. Grenades, distractions, disorientation, or attacking from multiple angles can all be used, but even so, if I saw a grenade come in, I'd head out with my finger held down on the trigger.

Airsoft-Ed replied to Smudgerii's topic in UK Law
I don't understand why you can't buy a .177 air pistol to use for rapid target shooting...? You can get a lot that are magazine fed with the power source in the magazine, they can even look realistic without you needing a defence against the VCRA. Only difference is the ammo is more expensive, metal, and there's no hop - though if you're plinking targets at short range, hop is pretty useless anyway. The only reasons I can think of to go airsoft gun instead of air gun, is: - There are clubs that do airsoft pistol shooting, as Dave mentioned, so you could join one of those if you went for an airsoft pistol - The ricochets would be a lot less dangerous from an airsoft pistol. If you're just going to do it at home then why not just get something like this? http://www.airgundepot.com/sig-sauer-x-five-p226-full-metal-bb-pistol.html Obviously you'd need to find a local air gun retailer that stocks that kind of stuff first, since it all has to be done face to face these days, if I remember right, but that'd be a lot simpler, cheaper, and easier, than having to play 3 airsoft games to get UKARA before buying anything.
