  1. that's surprising, i mean it's exactly how e&l barrels are attached i'm just surprised an RS works the same way. i kinda presumed given their whole "these are made in an actual ak factory" deal that it would have been fixed, although i'm happy to be wrong on that one.
  2. ooh she's a beauty. curious how the outer barrel is mounted- is it removable or is it a case of you'd have to dissassemble the hop then pull the inner out the front?
  3. well seeing as you brought it up..... better to tell the truth, lest the poor fella ends up dissapointed in his new shiny pew because of a misplaced understanding. if he knows it won't necessarily be any better but still wants it anyway because sigs are cool and the 550 is the model he likes then he can buy it and not be dissapointed. however more on topic there's a couple of points to raise: 1. plastic receiver? wouldn't be my preference, might be a bit on the weak side but if you're not treating it rough should be fine. 2. as @alxndrhll pointed out volume matching, barrel on that thing is on the longer side for a standard cylinder, probably be fine (we're not talking a 640 here....) and worst case just run a shorter inner barrel. 3. jg's internals are pretty decent given how little the gun costs, although it'll need some work if you want to get it shooting it's best but that kinda applies to anything depending on what your personal standard for acceptable performance is.
  4. so 0.78j, fair bit of headroom. worth seeing what the shot to shot fps variation is, it's the litmus test for your air seal (the ± fps number you want as low as possible) no point putting a bigger spring in there till sure that extra energy is going out the barrel.
  5. for a cyma i'd be saying more likely air seal giving low/inconsistent fps. the stock hop unit/barrel are ok, maybe switch to the usual ml macaron+omega and stuff some heavier ammo. last cyma i worked on hadn't much trouble lifting .3's at 1j after some air seal work and fixing a shoddy downgrade (where they take a biro pen clicker spring instead of an actual aeg spring) you wanna go baller then combat union.
  6. the front gap is less of an issue, if the hop is being clamped down on all sides properly it shouldn't be leaking out the front anyway. it's the nozzle-hop seal worries me, and given how the dragonuv has been performing it seems to be the main issue.
  7. Hmm ive seen that before, 1911's that happens when the sear has worn. Shouldnt be any issue rounding off that edge although it might be of limited help
  8. i too have noticed this problem, funny the dragonuv hop chamber looks identical (possibly is). couple of possible solutions- one is to move the barrel further back but that would require removing the tabs/refiling slots on the barrel which is a world of annoying problems getting everything squared up, other (which is the plan i'm gonna look into if/when i can be bothered) is a different hop rubber.
  9. Welp, knew it would be bad, went anyway, expectations exceeded

      Oh, I see.

  10. As something a manufacturer could make? Not hearing anything that couldnt be done. For a one-off that isnt almost entirely 3-d printed much trickier. One thing i'm thinking here is mk23 trigger group, as that handles the feed nozzle/hammer/knocker assembly, then the bolt is just a fake to cock the hammer. Loading gate might be tricky, the easiest route would be a curved feed right up to the chamber, but that'd mean the follower would have to pass the loading gate location whilst there were still a few bb's ahead of it. A lifter could be made, but it'd add a lot of complexity just to avoid tube loading it like a henry. Edit: ironically this might be easier to do as a shell ejector- everything from the hammer forward is pretty much straight clone of the real thing and the hammer assembly is setup like (insert gas powered revolver)
  11. That was quicker than i expected..... When you say made a barrel, do you mean machined one yourself? Or modified an existing one to fit?
  12. in fairness, depending on your personal standard of acceptable performance, all but the most premium brands (and i'm talkin systema not tm) might need tweaking out of the box. it can be as much about stock availability as anything else, some stuff you just can't get over here, or if you can it's so overpriced you might as well buy from overseas. in @Asomodai's example, even if he got stung with 50% of the value of 20 pps shells as charges he's still saving £44 buying abroad, if you ain't in a rush then it's worth it. meanwhile, i'm curious to see if DHL will stick to their claim of delivering yesterdays GS order next tuesday, if they do that'll say a hell of a lot about UPS given moscow is a tad further away than krakow and definately not in the eu......
  13. always the problem with the more niche guns. i do hold that the dragonuv in general seems to be much less popular than it should be.
  14. custom making parts certainly is a way of doing things, depending what kind of equipment you have easy access to. makes me kinda wish i didn't work in composites, not so much useful equipment for airsoft stuff in that field.
  15. i must admit the ability of this forum to maintain civilized discussion/debate (even on potentially contentious issues) is a welcome break from the usual mess that makes up the internet.
  16. must admit i'm curious myself. i presume it's gonna be a longer stroke cylinder (like an sr25), but internally the cyma stuff ain't too shabby. hop unit might be a fun one, combat union make an svd hop unit although whether this is for the cyma pattern or some other variant i don't know, if it does fit the cyma then that'd yeild an aftermarket nozzle too. i think (read: assume) @Asomodai will have picked one up in his quest to own all the bullpups so maybe he might have some more specific info. tbh for a dmr platform, assuming it takes the combat union hop/nozzle i'd probably just change the piston head for the air seal, bump up the spring (although it might be pretty close from factory) and a new barrel/bucking/nub (probably my usual pdi/macaron/omega combo) and wire in a warfet (which will sort any sluggish response) then feed it some good .48's
  17. ehh i can't say i think this plan is gonna work out all that well. "upgradeable" means a hell of a lot more than just a spring change to get more power. for starters you're talking sniping, which is much more demanding for precision, which means impeccable air seal, and adding a faux shell with all it's extra leaky places to try and keep sealed consistently is not gonna help in the slightest. then there's whatever is going on with the hop setup, and by extension the barrel too. and that's before we start talking about how well the trigger pack is gonna get on with being asked to take the strain of a stronger spring. don't get me wrong, i agree shell ejectors are cool, and i have respect for anyone trying to snipe with something that isn't a vsr/ssg/srs variant because variety is good for the hobby. but i'll be amazed if this works out the way you want it to.
  18. yeah i did take a look at the various suits, but gs was already bad enough at sucking my wallet dry for me to get a set just for the jacket.
  19. yeah, suppose running sleeveless any hope of camo has already gone out the window. not that i'm all that good at the hiding anyway, i'm more the be where ye aint looking type
  20. i can't wear a Hawaiian shirt, i wouldn't hear the end of the big luao/boogaloo/big igloo jokes...... looks like sticking to the plain grey t shirt it is
  21. do they do digiflora or spectre? problem is i don't do plate carriers (mans has enough padding without adding more) so ubacs style stuff doesn't work.
  22. on the subject of trousers..... a non-waterproof set in digi flora now i just need to find me an appropriate summer shirt.....
  23. fair enough. tbh i think this is sidestepping the real issue which is still just... why?
  24. i haven't, what i'm meaning is with the pivot point being the firing hand, you want the weight to be forward of that to hold it nicely in the elbow cup. at least i'm assuming that it's meant to be held that way, but a human being, with the normal number of appendages.
