Did that come with a CYMA or similar? I regretted every penny that I sunk into NiMh. I mean, it works, but it's old tech, and lithium based batteries deliver higher current, even if the voltage is nominally lower. If you're not sure that you'll stick with airsoft, I'd suggest using the basic charger that came with it - while carefully monitoring the battery to check that it's not overheating while charging. If you're going to drop money, I'd recommend that it be on lithium (Li-Po, Li-Fe or even Li-Ion) plus a decent charger like a SkyRC S65 (other options are available). B6 chargers like the one suggests also work (I have one) but again: they're older tech.

Seller: want it all gone asap Also, seller: would rather be patient and wait for it to sell as I know it’s worth Hey, this is Goat Track Maccy-D's Guy. Now letting slip that this bargain bundle is actually in Croydon, and (of course) collection only.

Well, another way to play is to carry enough pyro that you can be sure of clearing the area and moving up to retrieve it.

Low power ‘hit’ - bounce or direct hit?
Rogerborg replied to ParHunter's topic in General Discussion
Genuinely, thank you. There's far too much "friendly first warning" stuff at sites. Without consequences, the only lesson learned is that there are no consequences. -
Ahoy and welcome back.

Really sorry to hear that. The Depot 1.0 site was on the verge of banning all reusables because they were getting nicked and they didn't want the hassle. I have a policy of always retrieving them straight away, even if it's calling myself out and getting lit up in the process. I've had marshals tell me to get them later, but I now politely but firmly insist, or ask them to retrieve them for me. Unfortunate, but it's the reality of humans being dicks until proven otherwise.

Help Diagnosing/Fixing Issues or find a tech?
Rogerborg replied to neekgate's topic in Electric Guns
Good question, Specnas can be super-fussy. Somewhere on here are the magazine and feed tube measurements I took that show over 1mm of variance between "M4" mags. Doesn't sound like a lot, but it's very noticeable when you put them side-by-side. -
It's fine, I have a front wired Perun AB++ in my JG G36. I soldered straight to the trigger tabs on the outside of the gearbox, and didn't even have to open it up. On an external unit like this, with those trigger tabs, it's not relevant whether it's front or rear wired, so long as you can get the wires to the battery (and you can). The AB++ sits just inside the battery space under the handguard, which doesn't help the already cramped space, but I can get a 1400mAh 11.1V lipo in there with it, so it's all good. You can add inline connectors somewhere in the wiring, but I didn't even bother with that.

There's a "Contact us", but since they didn't even take down the advert purporting to be a real Glock after I reported it that way, I doubt that there's any sort of actual moderation.

Sniping is fun too, but you're going the right way by playing with an AEG first. It's worth mentioning that YouTube gameplay, and particularly sniping, tends to be heavily edited to the point of being straight up fantasy. I mean, you can have great days where nearly everything hits, but in reality, we're slinging tiny bits of spinning plastic in the wind and rain and physics doesn't care how much we've spent. I'd recommend trying CQB as well if you can, it's a more intense experience - with shorter walks to respawn!

Ahoy and welcome. If you're a spendy sort don't visit the classifieds! Skirmishing is great fun, just go with the attitude that you're there to get shot and call the hits, rather than to reenact the starring role in Extraction, and you'll have a blast. If it's your actual first time, go along and have a listen when they shout out for the rentals - there will be a basic what-to-do briefing before the main brief, the most important parts of which are never, ever remove your eye protection in the game zone, and always take your mags out (pistols) to and fire until they're clear and put them on safe before entering the safe zone. Airsofters tend to be super friendly and keen to help, so if you have any questions, or run into problems with your guns, just ask around and folk will be happy to help you out.

When Gunfire and TaiwanGun started surcharging for PayPal, I ratted them out made a "concerned customer" report in a fit of pique. I wonder if they're still doing it.

Hey, it's that guy who lives at the imaginary McDonalds up the goat track in the middle of nowhere again. This smells fishier than a trawler's orlop.

Looking for a "lasgun" style flash hider
Rogerborg replied to Rogerborg's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
Jolly decent of you, but I'll either be buying off the shelf or DIYing it. -
Yup, it's a decent and well run site, but actually a bit too big for my tastes. Not overly sparse like Section 8, there is indeed loads of buildwork (and more going up, I see) and you're rarely more than a leap and a bound from some cover. I just prefer the higher shooting-to-walking ratio in CQB sites, or at Area-66. [checks the weather and spaces for this Sunday]

Looking for a "lasgun" style flash hider
Rogerborg replied to Rogerborg's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
I imagine the market is too small, and it's tricky to reach customers. I mean, I'm actively searching for a thing that I'm sure exists, or existed, and I can't find it. -
Looking for a "lasgun" style flash hider
Rogerborg replied to Rogerborg's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
That's more the sort of size, but nah, I'm not paying gun value for a flash hider. If I can't find the thing I think I'm thinking off, I'll probably just bust out the waste pipe and hot-melt glue or buy a 3D printer. -
I inferred IF-to-RIF from: "In some cases, items are made to look more realistic by being repainted. If the colour of the items is changed to make them look like a real firearm, this risks causing unnecessary concern to the general public." But, yes, it could be either, and it's the same S19 offence regardless.

Looking for a "lasgun" style flash hider
Rogerborg replied to Rogerborg's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
Sure, I'm just feeling like treating myself to someone else's work for once. I have a Sound Hog amplifier slated for sacrifice to the Machine Spirit if I can't find anything suitable. Thanks, but it's a little skinny, I like my GrimDark chunky style. I swear I saw something suitable last year from a small business, I should have bookmarked (or just bought) it. -
I'm minded to put together an CSI XR-5 based lasgun (yes, I know about the plastic bushings) and treat myself to an actual bought-thing flash hider if I can find one. I'm looking for something like this in standard 14mm CCW. I have a vague recollection of a UK 3D printer business turning those out (maybe https://airtac.me/), but I can't find anything like it now. Anyone seen something like that for sale recently?

Sounds like they've caught some lads larking around with rattlecan-painted IFs. It doesn't even sound like they've been prosecuted for the FA 1968 S19 public possession, let alone the VCRA S36 modification offence, so I'm guessing it's been disposed of via "boys will be boys". The S19 defence for a "reasonable excuse" is a pretty low bar. Cosplayers have been sent on their way with a telling off after RIFfing it up in airports, and a Scotch Sheriff has said "playing cowboys and Indians" would count. Gonnae no dae that, though.
-
And two-tone if you're buying retail (I assume you can't provide the seller with a defence). That really doesn't leave a lot of choice, but I'd definitely avoid the ZM51, it's a disposable plastic-fantastic that doesn't even appear to have an adjustable hop. Trying to buy used can indeed be a frustrating experience, and I wouldn't trust any uPgRaDeD gun without trying it out first. Even if you do find a private seller who's willing to sell to you without a defence, you may find that postage takes a big chunk out of that budget. I don't think there is a realistic new option that stays within that budget when you include scope and postage and two-toning. The closest I can come is a day-glo Well MB-03 from bbguns4less at £100 including postage. If you create an account and drop it in your basket then you may get a 5% discount code after 48 hours or so. I'd caveat that by saying that the trigger and/or stopper will fail if you upgrade the spring, but left as stock they're usable as backyard plinkers. I would strongly recommend against throwing money at one, but barrel stabilisation and sorting the air seal can pay dividends, and if you want to go further you could drill and tap in a DIY TDC hop.

Then I'll amend it to "give it lots of burst, into a tissue, until it's clear". Sure, the right thing to do is to strip it down, clean, lube very sparingly with silicon grease, re-shim and so on. But if you are down on power (and OP isn't) then it can (sometimes) provide a simple amelioration, if you do it sensibly. Granted, that's not a given for airsofters. With 0.2g? Sad that there's any woodland sites still doing that. Still, the consistency is good news. I find 0.28g is the sweet spot for price-vs-performance.

Except that every penny we spend will leave our economy, and we'll always be an importer. Tooling up would have allowed us to become an exporter, at least in theory - although our recent track record isn't great. I'm sure the poor bloody infantry will be happier being issued a decent system that actually works rather than a great one that doesn't (bites tongue on Ajax rant).
