If you're in the the UK then either get rid of it or never show it to anyone as its illegal. If the vent is not straight through from the breech then its a film prop and can ONLY be owned with a Film/TV Armorer certificate. If the vent is straight from the breech like a normal barrel then its totally illegal and would be treated as a section 5 firearm so VERY bad to own.

I can add to Lord_Poncho's comment about the WELL MB01 I got one to try out as it was cheap and wanted to try a boltie just in the garden. I was lucky enough to get a relatively good one. It shoots almost exactly 450fps(0.2g) stock and is accurate enough to reliably hit a tin can at 15m which is the max distance I can shoot in my garden. (I use 0.3g BBs) Haven't tried it in an actual game but for a bit of plinking fun its quite satisfying. (Tip: Pull the bolt as close to the body as possible to avoid too much side torque) BUT if you're after accuracy then stick to air rifles as airsoft is nowhere near as accurate.

Don't worry, we were all noobs once. Dealing with problems is how we learn and improve 😉 Its either a simple fix or something is broken. If it all seems to fit together properly and you can't get it to work then its best to take it to the shop. 25mins is really close, you're lucky there. They may not even charge you if its a simple fix. (Make sure to keep it well hidden when transporting)

Its really weird. (It does seem to be quite dirty and worn for being a few days old) Is there an airsoft shop nearby you can take it to? If you have a small file try to make the area circled a smooth ramp

Taking out the hop-up unit and inner barrel is not a big deal and shouldn't cause such an issue. You may have not reassembled it properly. Could be an issue with return spring guide rod position. Try to redo everything and make sure it all fits back together easily. Make sure all visible screws are tight. Where are you based? (just in case)

Specifically targeting youngsters with ads will land you in hot water with the lefties saying that you're trying to radicalise them and indoctrinate violent behaviour. Anything gun shaped is a no in today's society. Ads would have to emphasise the camaraderie and team building but avoid showing the 'toys'

Yeah that's definitely a good idea if they can get enough numbers to make it sustainable. The problem is I imagine most parents of kids that age would steer them away from such realistic weapons to nerf/paintball being preferable.
