  1. You would be ‘altering the colour’ But won’t be ‘making it into a RIF’ Provided the body remains > 50% of one of the approved colours then it remains an IF https://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2007/2606/regulation/7/made An IF can be transparent or >50% brightly coloured 2) The colours specified in this paragraph are— (a)bright red; (b)bright orange; (c)bright yellow; (d)bright green; (e)bright pink; (f)bright purple; and (g)bright blue. Orange tips are meaningless in UK legislation
  2. The advice stands but the thread title is wrong
  3. Their location information references a sign at the entrance, but that might be that on game days they put up a sign https://booking.riftairsoft.com/game/361 Location Info Location: Abingdon Oxfordshire, OX13 6BX Abingdon Airfield Honey Bottom Lane (Look for the RIFT Airsoft Parking Sign) Dry Sandford Abingdon Oxfordshire OX13 6BX In general sites give good, bad or indifferent information on how to get there
  4. Be aware ……. On a forum many years ago someone posted about their transport problems and one of our guys contacted them offering a lift He then received a phone call from an irate mother about why he trying to arrange picking up her schoolboy son
  5. This is the wrong forum really as it’s an air pistol rather than airsoft, but the interests may cross over Theres one for sale here for £50: https://www.guntrader.uk/guns/air-pistols/diana
  6. @dan The F mark is the official marking that it complies It must both be within limits and marked as compliant - just being within the limit isn’t good enough ………. A few years back people would just ignore the law and decide it didn’t apply to them, international paintball events would get run in Germany and players would just ignore the law or get an illiegal aftermarket F stamped onto the body Then became outraged the years when the police just sat waiting for people to turn up and impound their gear
  7. PayPal provides an almost escrow service acting as the middleman between two parties. Friends & family is purely for transferring an amount of money and receives no other PayPal services Standard payments with fees (deducted from the amount the recipient receives) have a level of dispute protection It’s as simple as that - you have no right to a comeback on a F&F payment ‘Send me £1 F&F’ should be translated into ‘send me an amount of money that puts £1 into my account’ If they won’t let you pay £1.34 to enable them to receive £1 after fees then that should tell you there’s a problem Even better if the seller takes into account fees and postage before creating a listing with the price
  8. I agree that it should be fully wrapped but not necessarily that it is ‘clearly a RIF’ I see a white box, with Scorpion, ASG, Action support games etc Its clearly a parcel, and someone may or may not know what the contents will be A delivery has been left in sight, which contains a RIF
  9. Inform the seller for info But items left on doorsteps are now a fact of life. Time constraints and delivery targets mean that carriers take the added risk of a claim for missing items which haven’t been delivered in person Ideally the seller should have sent it without the ability for an unsigned drop off, adult recipient etc - which they may have paid for
  10. As tackle says, there’s a balance between travelling with it and sending back and forth It should be possible to post it, but watch out for customs declarations (even though it’s not a new item coming back customs could be nosey and claim some value, but if it’s documented as going out and back then that takes off any import charges) There’s the worry of it disappearing or being delayed, and any arrangements for someone to receive it (hotels can be willing to receive and hold - but might worry about the type of item)
  11. No But as you’re saying it’s to go abroad and back is it a warranty / service etc? There are declarations that can be made for those. For example a few years back the UK branch of a manufacturer closed with all Europeans support centralising in Germany. People were worried about the different laws, but import/export was fine with the right paperwork such as the approved work ticket form with relevant declarations Care is to be taken on declarations, proper packaging and a suitable carrier / method that doesn’t breach their small print
  12. There are some women in airsoft - I was photographing a paintball tournament which was on the same day as the skirmishing. In the morning there was a commotion in the staging area, as everyone turned to look at the car park and I heard the immortal words ….. ”They’ve got women in airsoft now!!!” Or to be more accurate - there was one
  13. He’s only after XXXL sizes, not cadet instructor extreme levels!!!!!!
  14. I have been to events like this, though those kinds of things were reserved for the players party etc One particular event would have undressing ladies. A more preferred event has had performing ladies who keep their clothes on. One year as the clothed ladies were being announced on stage as some of our guys rushed off I did try to point out that they are rushing off to join a sweaty crowd desperately trying to push closer to ladies at a distance on a stage behind barriers - in the rain …… whereas currently we were dry under a shelter in a group with real life ladies willing to drink with us and talk with us, and would be willing to see us again
  15. I for one have throughout my life put into practice the right not to grow up I don’t think that any post here has demonised spending (even out of your means) The thread highlights other issues, whether spending is a temporary escape from the issues or whether spending is the cause of the issue In both the spiral is the same I take the thread as a call out to think, and to not be afraid of seeking help Just one is a victory
  16. A new gun doesn’t immediately begin to customise you It may have appeared to do so If you leave off from the marriage part then you can work on getting a good range of spares with all the spare disposable income ….. But there’s always the danger of so much choice that you find yourself unable to decide and then find yourself twiddling your thumbs not doing anything with any of them
  17. @Killbox On a different tack the information quoted is contradictory - you can’t have full consent that cannot be withdrawn plus a safe word that withdraws consent This ‘waiver’ is much worse than a waiver as it’s full of various words that have been thought of and thrown together ———- A themed escape room experience will be sellable to people The audience isn’t really airsofters. They are either going out for a day of randomly shooting people or getting immersed into a themed scenario format. They may like to play with some gadgets, go for a mission objective etc But the basic idea is right up the street of ‘experience’ days for groups, stags, hens etc If you’re just bigging up a story line then calm it down a bit, but if you are planning a ‘high intensity’ abusive experience then step back for a hard rethink
  18. ******Be warned that reading up on this is at your own risk and isn’t for the faint hearted***** At the very least this can result in crossing your legs, wincing and horrific images in your imagination Operation Spanner covers the investigation and prosecutions - the whole thing never went away. Prosecutions took place escalating through magistrates, crown court and to the Old Bailey with guilty verdicts covering 8 convictions sentenced between 18 months and 4 1/2 years Appeals were unsuccessful in the appeals court, House of Lords and European court of human rights Guilty verdicts remained standing. Protests, a legal review and proposed legislation changes came to nothing. For @Killboxthe situation remains that to the very least ‘consent is limited’ Let alone a basic duty of care if you’re ‘shocking’ someone who doesn’t realise that they have a heart condition. It’s quite timely to think about a reckless act and being imprisoned for manslaughter
  19. For Scotland they do have an air weapon certificate now, so you can’t just buy an air weapon. However if you have a shotgun or firearms certificate you don’t require an air weapon certificate Therefore they will have registers of shotguns, firearms and air weapons But they won’t have a record that farmer Fred also has an airweapon as he will be legal without telling anyone about the air weapon If he retires, sells his shotgun and his shotgun certificate expires then he would need a new air weapon certificate Down here in England the local Bobby is aware of my paintball armoury and has checked some out - for general knowledge, curiosity and in case I’m burgled resulting in an SLR, AK47s etc hit the streets But other than that the police have no idea what I have stashed away I have an air pistol revolver from Pellpax which was delivered by them personally, checked my driving licence and told me to enjoy. They will retain the sale in their records, but unless they get looked into no one will know It’s no longer an air pistol though, as I bought it for a 3D printed barrel conversion - then funnily later I discovered an old school paintball revolver for sale which the previous owner had been using with an airgun barrel conversion Bearing in mind that shooting people with airguns is a little bit illegal, do I have an illegal under powered large calibre air pistol? I use frangible balls and some shaped rounds (which have been formally tested and approved as frangible) so hopefully I’m good to go
  20. The purpose of the UKARA database holding personal information is to validate RIF sales A prospective buyer could make a complaint under GDPR if it is not used to do so Validation does not require the data to be shared …… Fred Bloggs gives his address 999 Letsbee Avenue and a UKARA number to John Smith John Smith enquires with the UKARA or a site If the enquiry is denied Fred Bloggs raises a complaint about inappropriate holding of their personal data when it does not get used for its stated purpose You’re going to get me and @Rogerborg agreeing to disagree again Historically I would say that an air weapon is a firearm under Firearms legislation, therefore an air weapon cannot be an IF even if brightly coloured nor a RIF even if identical to a full on section 5 or illegal firearm and Rogerborg would differ on the basis of an air weapon that is clearly a classic air weapon vs identical to full on firearms But there has been a case (last year?) … he put it up on the forum The precident has happened
  21. You’re summing up is generally correct. The VCRA requires a ‘defence’ for the manufacture, sale or import of a RIF - but the offence committed under a sale would be by the seller (whether business or private) The UKARA is just a central register based on airsoft site ‘membership’ schemes, designed to protect retailers but has had processes for private sellers to request validation The border agency/customs and the police could call upon it ‘Gifting’ is an interpretation of the law - the law covers manufacture, import and sale - so can be interpreted that handing over a RIF with no remuneration is not a sale. I’m not aware of this being tested in law, but a barrister was commissioned to review legislation against paintball by the UKPSF and they were happy with the interpretation of the law for gifting (There are quite a few paintball guns that could be RIFs and there was a reliance for many years on the theory thus a paintball gun is a low power air weapon, which is a type of firearm under legislation and therefore a firearm would not be an IF nor a RIF - but that’s also not been tested in court) I try to stick to my sponsors wise words regarding both what I wave around in public and for general life As I have not yet been arrested or had my front door kicked in its worked much better than any databases (particularly as I’ve never been on a UKARA database) Silence is golden On a different tack I am aware of a very well known member of the old school paintball customisation community who built many airsoft based paintball customs long before the VCRA & UKARA were a twinkle in a politicians eye. He went through a dark period and decided to end it with suicide by cop and manufactured armed police response upon himself Had it not been for his ex also stepping in and reporting her concerns then it could have ended differently They did not choose to ignore the matter and did provide a full armed response team handling the matter very professionally The risk was still the same that they were face to face with an armed man, not knowing for certain what could be real or not
  22. Ask him what the police would do if they had a report about a man waving a shotgun around. Would they check if the address had a valid shotgun certificate and then not bother to turn up ?
  23. Here’s a piece of history - the original modified jumbo holster ….. The donor leg holster was destitched and wrapped around a ‘pocket’ The ‘pocket’ was a sheet of acetate folded around the pistol, shaped & reinforced with black nasty gaffer tape and wrapped in a DPM off cut An extra strip of Velcro on top to secure over the grip Looking at the proper stitiching on the bottom of the DPM for the extra para cord thigh tie strap it looks like it was cut from DPM trousers and the para cord threaded through the ankle tie This was probably my last use of a drop leg system due to the addition of useless weight on my thigh. I quickly went to waist holsters
  24. 190/120 has potential …… now all you need to do is find some It could be the largest for some items but can go to 200/128 etc in others
  25. The issue kit is sized to NATO specifications in cm with jackets Note that the size isn’t necessarily the dimensions of the garment but of the person it’s meant to fit, and what we would call a shirt in normal life is a light jacket and jackets are smocks. The shirt/jacket is worn over a t-shirt / under shirt and the smock is worn over the rest. So a smock will be bigger than the ‘matching’ shirt/jacket Shirts and jackets are sized as height* / chest Trousers are sized as waist / inside leg / seat (backside) * note that ‘height’ is the average persons height that it would go with rather than the length of the garment, and tends to dictate the arms and how far down the pockets are etc There are soldiers of various shapes & sizes so the range available in surpluses can vary - sometimes you get lucky on odd sizes ended up in surplus shops as new because it’s sat in a QMs store For those inside who can’t fit the range, or with a tailors modification there is a custom request form - so you could always sign up and get a set made Have a nose around on this to see if you have any prospects of being in the standard range: https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/948535/s_1-6.pdf
