Is this PCP air-rifle pump suitable for HPA
Tommikka replied to Matt.2504's topic in High Pressure Air
It’s necessary to have serious doubts about cheapness of high pressure items and their reliability Let alone why that one claims to go to 6000psi but is cheaper than the 4500psi model, and that it’s short ‘product details’ give different specifications https://www.manomano.co.uk/catalogue/p/3-stage-pcp-4500psi-air-rifle-hand-pump-with-pressure-gauge-58884898#tab-description https://www.manomano.co.uk/catalogue/p/pcp-pump-for-air-gun-3-stage-6000psi-high-pressure-hand-pump-air-rifle-gun-pump-tungsten-steel-with-gauge-for-high-pressure-tires-and-pre-charged-pneumatic-airguns-53871693#tab-description If they were to be believed then they need inline filters added. The ideal is to fill air cylinders on site from they compressor system Next is to have a scuba cylinder which you fill at a dive shop (only fill your playing cylinders to a lesser pressure than the scuba cylinder & top up regularly to maintain the scuba pressure for longer) Stirrup pumps can be viable, but note that their key market of PCP rifles have small reservoirs I have a stirrup pump myself (which didn’t cost that price !) but I also am a founding member captain who can demand that one of my junior peasants gets some exercise if we are in need of some extra air -
Flag up the 6 / 12 foot pounds elements By the way, good use of the word ‘marker’. The term has no legal standing, but gets used defensively to avoid the gun word Its origins go back to the use of oil based paint in forestry to ‘mark’ Teenagers try to argue with me about the history of paintball that gun/pistol etc should never be said. Marker was adopted in the US as a PC term, but originally they were ‘paint marking guns/pistols’ etc - never markers But as you have a legal hole at the moment keep your language as ‘paintball markers’, refer to the firearms act with ‘low power air weapons’ and try to pick out any Home Office pointers in the P8ntballer law thread etc

These are not airsoft pistols but paintball pistols 2.5 joules applies to airsoft guns, which must be designed to fire plastic pellets no larger than 8mm. The T4Es clearly don’t comply with that https://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1968/27/section/57A?view=plain [F157AException for airsoft guns (1)An “airsoft gun” is not to be regarded as a firearm for the purposes of this Act. (2)An “airsoft gun” is a barrelled weapon of any description which— (a)is designed to discharge only a small plastic missile (whether or not it is also capable of discharging any other kind of missile), and (b)is not capable of discharging a missile (of any kind) with kinetic energy at the muzzle of the weapon that exceeds the permitted level. (3)“Small plastic missile” means a missile that— (a)is made wholly or partly from plastics, (b)is spherical, and (c)does not exceed 8 millimetres in diameter. (4)The permitted kinetic energy level is— (a)in the case of a weapon which is capable of discharging two or more missiles successively without repeated pressure on the trigger, 1.3 joules; (b)in any other case, 2.5 joules.] Before that exemption came in airsoft fines were treated as ‘low power air weapons’ (air guns) Paintball guns (including the T4E) remain legal under the Firearms act as ‘low power air weapons, and must be powered below 12 foot pounds (air rifles) or within 6 foot pounds air pistols) (exceeding those makes it a ‘dangerous air weapon’ and leads to section 5 territory) (You have pistols so 6 foot pounds would apply which is approx 8 joules) There is also case law (which established a little over 300fps as the velocity maximum for a paintball gun firing a ‘standard’ 0.68” paintball Paintball has an ‘advantage’ that the Firearms act refers to lethality and the Home Office have (to date) accepted the frangibility of paintballs. This is also aided by testing a few years back of a ‘new’ type of paintball Paintball guns in the UK are legally recognised by the Home Office provided they are used with either paintballs or First strikes (which is a shaped round of a half sphere paintball with a fin) (And not necessarily tested in the same manner but there are also ‘powder balls’ which would be frangible) Potential problems that you could have against you are the circumstances of how they came to the attention of the police (such as in public) and what you have them loaded with Solid balls have been sold in the UK, which are not legal to be fired. Rubber reballs have been sold for many years and there were also reball centres If you have any of these other balls then you could be facing problems and would need to rely on treating them as airguns If you live in Scotland then there is an air weapon certificate that’s required. (A mini licence). This does not / should not apply to paintball guns, but only if using frangible paintballs https://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/1969/47/made https://basc.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/downloads/2019/07/KNOW-YOUR-LAW-AIR-WEAPONS-2018.pdf The T4Es are legal …… but should be used with paintballs An option to consider is to buy UKPSF membership, but it could be too late to assist you https://ukpsf.com Get legal advice, and highlight the airweapon and paintball elements You can also pop over to here: https://p8ntballer-forums.com/threads/paintball-and-the-law.171875/

I’ve not used a UV9R, but on the topic of signal strength it may or may not be ‘ficticous’ but certainly will be best case / maximum. On a practical basis for playing in the woods the lesser power limits of PMRs etc isn’t that much of a disadvantage against higher power licenced types of handset. Terrain is the killer of signals A stronger signal won’t get through a hill, but could do a bit better through the bushes We’ve used PMR and licenced systems to get the message across full sites when running events. For wider areas and passing hills etc we’ve relayed messages among the Marshalls etc However we’ve also preferred phones - that way we don’t need to penetrate the hill but just reach a mast, and also allows for direct ‘privacy’ without someone sneakily listening to a game admin PMR channel or just overhearing from every other marshal For headsets do ensure that the right headset compatibility is checked. Sometimes a common socket type is used but a manufacturer has their own little peculiarity We had an issue once with a games ‘faction command radios’ and teams own radios. My co-captain took the ‘command radio’ and the job of relaying messages - and then was out of contact from the faction leader all morning. After radio check he decided to plug our headset into the command radio - it plugged in but received nothing On discovery at lunch I educated him on headset ‘compatibility’ and took the command radio off him

That translates to - “We don’t want to” For reasons such as the UK market isn’t worth the effort registering and the administration of dealing with HMRC for individual UK VAT imports, they are fed up with customers complaining about delay and import charges, the turnover isn’t worth the cost of bulk export/import, or they just don’t like you
-
Absolutely It might do, it might not …. But I’ll happily deal with grey areas and potential contradictions with a degree of common sense, be happy with fools who fall foul of common sense getting pragmatic handling from the police and avoid definitive legal decisions in the meantime

Not a contradiction as ‘indistinguishable’ is referenced to the size/colour exceptions of 3b (2)For the purposes of this section, an imitation firearm is not (except by virtue of subsection (3)(b)) to be regarded as distinguishable from a real firearm for any practical purpose if it could be so distinguished only— (a)by an expert; (b)on a close examination; or (c)as a result of an attempt to load or to fire it. (3)In determining for the purposes of this section whether an imitation firearm is distinguishable from a real firearm— (a)the matters that must be taken into account include any differences between the size, shape and principal colour of the imitation firearm and the size, shape and colour in which the real firearm is manufactured; and (b)the imitation is to be regarded as distinguishable if its size, shape or principal colour is unrealistic for a real firearm.

As others have said, parts that would be treated as firearms are generally pressure bearing items. There are also international controls on specific types of military accessories, but anything gun related could generate additional customs interest irrespective of whether or not the parts are legal There is the other matter of sanctions busting. You’ve stated that you are aware that the Russian retailer is dispatching via other countries to bypass international sanctions on Russia Its on your conscience regarding that, but it does raise another potential flag at customs Importing can be pretty tricky. It’s totally ‘buyer beware’ as at any point items could be seized and destroyed or held pending import charges & fees. Not only do you have the initial item cost plus international postage, lots of potential time delays, and the potential of anyone challenging the contents, but import fees If you just pay for the item and the postage then the package might just pass through, or it will sit awaiting processing while you are sent an import VAT bill of 20% of the value (which may be the invoice value or may be reassessed at customs) and a fee by the carrier to process it There is the potential that a foreign retailer registers with HMRC and charges you UK VAT at the point of sale - in which case they document it on the label and pay HMRC for you Think about what the chances of that from a Russian company that is evading international sanctions ?

Note that gifting in itself is not a defence, it’s a VCRA loophole The offence covers the sale, manufacture/modify & importation of RIFs As it covers sales it doesn’t cover ‘giving without recompense’, but you can only give what you can get Under the law - no you cannot buy a RIF to give to him But you could go and play with him three times, obtain your own UKARA membership and then buy a RIF to give him

No A forum isn’t a shop, it’s a place for discussion You don’t even need a VCRA Defence to buy an IF, clothing, bags etc -
There’s nothing wrong with learning to shoot feet ….. as part of practicing to shoot different targets (though in airsoft a boot shot is an easy one to ’not feel’) You won’t always be shooting from a stand up position against someone in a stand up position, practice for various sizes of targets in various positions / heights Dodgeball A two person exercise is dodgeball, which is practicing ‘first shot accuracy’ I’m a little blurred on the rules as they can be changed for your needs. Two players face to face, with guns down to their side (or pistols holstered etc) Take turns The target must stay in position, they may be allowed to lift one foot, but can lean to the side (hence dodgeball) The shooter raises their gun and shoots The target decides to stay still (think it’s going to miss) or can swerve (think its going to hit) Then depending on hit or miss: The target that has been hit loses use of a body part (eg first take a knee, next down on both knees, one arm behind their back (and can’t steady a rifle) Perhaps go as far as disabling both arms behind the targets back Once a target has taken their penalty it’s their turn to shoot The second shooter either inflicts penalties or restores their penalties : If you have taken a penalty then you restore your body part when you make a hit (If you’re restoring penalties then this could last a long time, but if you are just inflicting penalties then you see who knocks out the other first Once one player has no legs and arms then they reset, standup and you get closer or further away (Ideally make it harder, so the winner takes a step back, but you can also make it easier and the loser takes a step forward) If you’re doing step forward then it’s probably best that with every hit the shooter remains a shooter, and with every miss you change shooters Targets Set a line of targets which are each a little harder to hit (such as further away, smaller targets, etc) Set about 3 to 5 firing positions in front of each other Start in the middle firing position Shoot the nearest / easiest target If you hit then take a shot at the next If you miss take a step forward If you hit all targets take a step backwards Take your time to begin with plenty of aiming, once you can accurately hit all then speed up Once happy with a good speed then mix up the target order such as middle, near, far When you can accurately hit all sizes at all ranges whilst standing then you have to walk through, then next jog through (When moving shoot at the middle first, furthest then nearest to ensure that you have to change the distances you’re aiming while you go) On the moving run throughs start from a mid point. If you are missing then start nearer and if you are hitting then start further away & then speed up ((((Note that these exercises are even less suitable for gardens and are best suited for well controlled areas …. Such as on site)))

Most forums that I have used just limit the size per upload, and try to encourage the use of linked images etc Every forum has its hosting limits, and as with networks in the olden days could find themselves very overloaded by user content. Networks nowadays set user limits and will allocate a maximum storage level per user I like this forums way of managing image sizes as a limit per user, and gives the ability to the user to manage that rather than the forum owner/admins needing to either buy more space or purge files. I think I’ve only experienced the space issue preventing me from uploading once and dealt with it by reviewing my content and replacing larger files with scaled down copies. (Possibly just deleted some, but I prefer to downsize to keep the context of a post) Having just looked I’m 89% full, so I’ll remind myself to have another tidy up

The retailer is likely to be selling a 40% blue pistol as an IF Whether or not it is legally an IF is a different matter Just as with the cases of buyers who have bought expecting an IF but an unpainted black RIF arrived
-
Short version - no Unless other legislation applies (you’re a criminal forbidden from possessing, or are irresponsible in public etc) then you’re all good The VCRA requires a ‘principal colour’ to be one of the listed bright colours (VCRA section 38) Thats generally interpreted as >50% to be the principal colour But as a buyer it’s not your problem, any VCRA sales offence is committed by the seller It’s up to them to worry about potentially needing to justify an IF sale The VCRA does not cover possession, and the only offence you may make under the VCRA is modifying an IF into a RIF (which may not be an offence if your intent remains to play airsoft skirmishing on insured sites)
-
Note that the UKARA formed as the lobbying group campaigning and negotiating on behalf for the airsoft retailers to gain the added skirmisher defence (without which their wouldn’t be the defence of playing on an insured site) The UKARA scheme was one of the propositions offered up to justify the defence (Note that often when new players talk about getting their UKARA licence and are ‘corrected’ by Airsofters, the new player is closer to the truth - the proposed UKARA membership scheme was described as a licence scheme for airsoft skirmishers) The UKARA central register is free to players, but is run as a copy of site memberships, therefore sites may charge as they wish - usually a membership fee, possibly an admin charge and sometimes just free You can opt to use anything that you wish to justify your ‘VCRA skirmisher defence’ but it’s up to the seller (Or customs) to decide what they are willing to accept A retailer is liable to a fine if they make a RIF sale without justifying a valid defence. This comes with a level 5 fine, which is unlimited. (A level 4 fine is £2500) You might think that a UKARA / membership is money-making, or that the need to play 3 games in a given period just makes more RIF rental income for the particular sight, but they are avoiding a potential fine With unlimited fines possible it’s hard to see why certain retailers risk using obvious made up defences such as cosplay which just invite an easy prosecution

Two-tone paint removal "When 2 become 1"
Tommikka replied to RostokMcSpoons's topic in General Discussion
Good question (particularly as I often refer to >50%) …. So on that basis paint one side plus a bit more. The wording is ‘size, shape or principal colour’. Its an interpretation / my interpretation that 50% or less is not a ‘principal’ colour. There is also the matter of patterns, I can’t remember if it’s in the legislation / statutory instruments etc or was just in a guidance document. But I have see a reference to solid colours / patterns which would render a gaming style bright camouflage pattern as not necessarily compliant I personaly would consider a one side bright colour to be a much better attempt than many I’ve seen -

Shall I just comment that you have not even changed an IF into a RIF? Two tones don’t exist in the law, the VCRA requires an IF to be over 50% of one of the specified colours Blue is not a VCRA compliant colour, bright blue is, one part of the frame is not over 50% of the body - (though in this case it could be a matter of measuring some areas) (Rhetorical question) Why do retailers bother to paint a part of the body a non compliant colour ? But they have tried a little bit harder than those who promote false defences ……… Well done you for fixing a well executed but flawed attempt at making an IF -

It could be a bit late ….. but if parts are still in a bath of chemicals keep a good eye on it all Back in the mists of time I was planning to repaint model soldiers which had been drowned in paint by someone else I dutifully tested some and all was good, paint softened and could be brushed off with no effect on the figures Then I put them into a bath of thinner (in the garden to be wise about fumes() and stepped away …. After a couple of hours the thinner was looking like soup, I reached in and lifted out sagging moulten figures …… -

You’ve done the donkey work. Initially ‘just’ a reusable grenade - something you can throw with a timer and detonation Your latest shows something that can be used as a grenade, or apparently with other modes such as the ‘activated’ device and countdown. In itself a game format could be written around that - find a device, take it to a location and activate it If you have a deactivate button then the defenders could save themselves (and perhaps then Or expand on the device. Instead of just running a game that uses the device, programme a few game types into the device: A maximum game time - start the clock at game on Two modes on what happens if it is ‘defused’ - either the game ends and the defenders have won, or it can be rearmed and you have a game running back and forth until there is a successful detonation or game time runs out Once you’ve started it’s more constrained by imagination than anything else It does spiral though. The attached photo is one stage of a test bed / prototyping device. We have run a few events with devices that one of our guys makes, I bought an old ‘commercial’ site prop at an auction which needed some fixing, and it became a lockdown project to get it back running, identify its modes and then also produce new ideas of a combination of different game formats and the devices to run them I’m not showing the rest, but the underlying software can go into a cased device or another ‘object’ such as your grenade/device The screen & keypad aren’t required, just some form of input/output which can be keys, buttons, screens, audio, beeps, lights …. And other things Post COVID I have a host body built for a new device which just needs spare time to make particular holes and assemble the components
-
At what point does Jez realise that they are no longer refining an electronic grenade but have fallen down the rabbit hole full of all the potential prop device functions, and the ability to configure game modes & rules?
