Think most of my guns I run with some kind of optic except my really ‘old school’ AK’s/L1A1/MP5 but to be honest unless I’m taking a VERY carful aimed shot near all my shots are take either with my irons or by instinct ! 🤦‍♂️

I was thinking with this bit of a resurgence in ‘old school’ carrying handles and plastic forends you can’t help but wonder how long it’ll be before you start to see the classic ‘SWAT’ AR’s reappearing on the scene ? Not that I’d object as it is my all time favorite set up for an M4 .

Freely admit I really REALLY don’t like ‘modernised’ SLR/FAL 7.62 type guns but must say that does look sweet as a nut ! Very nicely done bud 👍

Most manufacturers just don’t want to deal with Joe public , for the financial return it’s just not worth the hassle involved . Many moons ago I worked for a manufacturer who made home use products they had a sales site but the prices where jacked up to diswade the public buying from them . If you where buying a pallet full from them it was all automated , the distribution company turned up at the wharehouse gave the docket to the guys there , pallet on the truck away to go job done . someone orders a couple of boxes ? A docket was generated sent to the wharehouse , the guys there then had to go and bust open a pallet , take off how ever many boxes , take the boxes over to packaging , THEN go back and find a home for this half loaded pallet . Meanwhile someone from packaging had to take it distribution , they had to organise a courier and then finance sorted all the VAT und stuff ! 🤦‍♂️ Now I’m sure it’s lot easier now due to the TinTernet but even now a lot of hassle for a marginal return ? alternatively I could be talking utter bollox ? 🤣

Been down this road my self , basically unless your buying in commercial numbers your not going to get them cheaper from the manufacture(more than likely it’ll cost you more buying them like that than a retailer)to get the big discounts you need to buy BIG numbers , we’re talking boxes full .

Without a fixed runner system and a fair bit of pressure against the lens all this’ll do is smear it across the lens . Sounds a bit simple but I just re-wipe mine after every other game , no problems with them and I've got inserts in mine as well so I’ve got three surfaces too fog up .

If you can find a full stock king arms FAL carbine or as Tackle said the JG58 your well on your way to fabricating a parsable L1A1 , to build mine I used an SVD flash hider a G36 6inch barrel extender , removed the permanent cocking handle (it’s just screwed on) cut , sanded and resin coated a small block of wood down to the size of the folding cocking handle on an SLR to replace it , made a carrying handle from a length of heavy gauge wire and a short length of broom handle shaped with finger grooves , swapped the round fire selector nub for an oblong plastic one I’d carved from a small piece of plastic then finally filled in the auto and FN markings on the receiver with a small amount of Mil putty . A lot carried Sterling’s at the teeth end of the military snake , most radio operators , section medics and a good few officers carried them . I had an S&T Sterling and it did indeed have cracking range too it and yes it did also have an intermittent fault when firing , sometimes it wouldn’t fire auto only semi when set to both selections but after a bit of fiddling and investigation I found the fault( on mine any way) was caused by a pair of screws coming loose in the selector mechanism . To fix it I removed the selector lever , then a small panel from under the lever , tighten up the two screws and then return the small panel and selector , job done .👍

I did not know that ! I took it as read that suppressors , silencers would be for obvious reasons but not the flash hider . Scary thing is I bought a real one a couple of yrs past , I picked one up for my Dragunov from Hungary and was none the wiser !
