I have been treating myself lately!
Bought a KWA Kriss Vector with 3 mags, a Madbull SOCOM stock and a 335mm suppressor! I plan to get the suppressor with the integrated inner barrel to put on my Vector (heard the FPS shoots up! Makes the gun fire hot though so not for skirmishes). But yeah!

I have been treating myself lately!

most still in their box or have kept boxes so stacked up (high)
my son has his own little armoury in his room
(basically anything really good some how finds its way up there)
 
always a gun or two in bits as I keep changing my mind/options of what to use/try next
 
and yes I've always had this obsessive compulsion thingy
was numerous consoles - especially rare ones
then I had the notion buy another rare console to make it even more rare - f*ck sake get a grip duck !!!
yup - really have a problem - think I must have a female "shoe/bag" gene or something (well I can be a tart at times)
 
7 FH's - well it was the first RIF I bought after ukara and we both wanted one when we first saw it
so LWA ballsed up my order so Mack pointed me to Pro Airsoft and I bought 2 of them....
a while later Airsoft World had one left at a slightly cheaper price than others so bought that
 
Then after a good month at work and selling some consoles I thought lets buy 3 - yes 3 from Z1
thinking I might pop down there with a free skirmish voucher to offset against silly purchase
 
turns out those later 3 were the toned down version that fires slower than the original FH's - damn it
really like the TopTech original FH's but got 3 lesser FH's I later found out
still a nice gun but after that the novelty of the dinky m4 wore off so it was a silly daft purchase
only bought the hc05 coz I felt compelled to get the new one to see how good it is - not great btw
 
So with my luck on breaking things - which has improved a little btw
I still set my limit on any gun to £150 (dsg was £155 and think a mk18 was £155 but £150 from Airsoftworld)
I ain't good at this stuff - I really suck at it, but I like to break and mess with stuff
I wouldn't do that to a TM but then I probably wouldn't buy a TM coz I know I'd probably just make it worse

3 x 1st run TopTech FireHawk's - stock as is though 1 has new better bucking
3 x regular FireHawk's with slower gearing - 1 has been around a bit lower, as receiver & box swapped about a lot in other G&G models
1 x HC05 DSG - tweaked to 40rps on 7.4v - still no semi coz G&G didn't do it right or use Riot/SHS/Modify gears
(not buying any more FH's - certainly not the dsg one)
yeah - got carried away on that one I know - but not saying any more.....

As mentioned, airsoft players love talking about their loadouts (costs quite a bit and it gives an opportunity to talk about what they've done). Another interesting way is to have a pretty interesting loadout yourself! Although this is quite unnecessary, it will still turn heads if you've got something that looks pretty unique (in a good way). Maybe a few will come over and ask about it, just like what you could possibly do with them. Once you start really looking into guns, you can see just how different they really are, which makes interesting conversation.
 
Best of luck with you! I too have no friends interested in airsoft (they have decided to spend their money monster PCs for gaming, or drugs... The latter being the people I don't usually talk to anymore, why buy drugs when you can get airsoft stuff!). Sure, curiosity is sparked when they see my guns but the price throws them off.
 
It is fine to go alone, but try to start some small talk or something - it is easy with airsoft players. Just walk up and compliment their gun :L

Obviously you had an inferior brand then, and this is what I mean with most people tarring all of them with the same brush; the TM one can be in any position before using the fire selector. I've noticed the selector to be very spongey on the others too - the TM one has a very positive click. I've not once accidentally had it switch to full auto from semi (or vice versa).
 
 
Firesupport I think. If not then overseas - WGC probably stock it. It's a Guarder one, but I know they have a weird name for the colour for some reason so it might not be as straight forward to search for.

There's something distinctly brilliant about emptying one of the 50 round mags in 2.5 seconds when it's a pistol though; very few other GBBs produce that much kick and they're fairly unique for it.
 
TM frames do crack at the front screw post after about 3000 rounds, but the Guarder ones (aprox. £30) are re-enforced with brass and are the first upgrade one should buy for them. The TM ones are built solidly elsewhere and the tolerances are good, but I'd never touch the WE and KWA ones (which is what many people form their opinions from). They're cheap and nasty - far too much money goes into the material cost of a metal slide, and the internals are made of complete pot metal.

I've got the TM G18C and have no problems with the selector switch accidentally going full auto/semi. However, I don't have the stock parts as a lot of it has been upgraded, one being the selector switch. It is very definitive between semi/full auto.
 
Despite what was said earlier about full auto being for girls, it is actually quite fun to play about with. However, some seem to not prefer having the option.
It can function as a G17 would - just don't touch the switch.
 
As for the mention of the weird KWA selector switch thing, the TM doesn't have it, in case you're wondering. You can select semi/full auto without having to keep the slide back.
 
If you want a practical, but at the same time a FUN gun, then buy the G18C. Full auto with a 50rnd mag will put a smile on your face I do have a long list of upgrades on it though, but it fires fine out of the box.
 
ALTHOUGH, if you do decide to get a G18C, then do not go the cheaper way and get a WE. They've been known to have internal issues with full auto and it can easily cause breaking (which is stupid). You'd be better off getting a TM, believe me. TM also has the GLOCK trademarks, if you're into that sort of thing. Polymer slide though, but uses less gas due to the lighter weight.
 
A WE G17 is fine though because it doesn't have full auto to break it so easily.
 
I agree, I personally see no reason to buy a G17 over and G18C. As I said, full auto is optional. So spend a bit more and have a lot more fun with it! I get bored of semi only pistols since I have had the G18C. Definitely not as fun.
 
All that being said, using WE Glock mags in the TM is perfectly fine Bit cheaper too, but they work very well. Hope this helps
 
EDIT: Turn the G18C into a smg with the CAA Roni G18C Carbine kit Can't see much point in doing that with a G17 because it is semi only. Or an APS kit, depending on budget. You have many options with a G18C

Well it's probably going to be a flying visit, if not quite a drive by: my health has been truly terrible. I swear, if i hadn't bought an Xbox1 to keep me distracted, the despair could well have been too much. Just looking out the window during daylight hours is enough to get me thinking of all the people I could be shooting... if it wasn't for the fact i can barely walk. When you think of how you'd use a bayonet while attached, it's an upward thrust so having the cutting edge on top makes more sense, so long as it is actually sharp.
