Does anyone have any experience of playing at the UCAP GreenOps woodland site near Liphook in Hampshire? The UCAP website does not have much information about the site, except that is CQB, so it would be useful to know what it is like and what other airsofters thought of the site, games, facilities, etc. The next game day is on Sunday 16 August.

Petition to get the UK government to relax laws on airsoft
Jedi_Master replied to Kieran621's topic in UK Law
Having just looked at Zeroin forum, overwhelming verdict of NO to any under 18 being able to buy a RIF. I agree, definitely NO! -
So a newb question. Should you always wash your balls before using them? Or do you only do that with cheaper brands?

^^ Well Chernobyl would certainly make the tracer BBs glow. Would not fancy running around in NBC kit (that is CBRN for the youngsters) and S10 respirator.

OPS Multicam Black Combat Clothing and Plate Carrier
Jedi_Master replied to MrMcG's topic in Accessory Reviews
Thank you for the review. The kit looks great and it is much better to have a player giving all the pros and cons than just relying on a magazine article. -
At my first airsoft game I just had on a balaclava under a hire full face mask and took a single BB to the forehead a close range. After yelling "Hit! Good shot", I realised in hindsight that it would have been a good idea to have worn the offered hire helmet. Next day I purchased a FAST helmet from Ebay for £38 and now no more painful head shots. Looking at some of the scratches in the plastic shows where I may have scraped/struck my head painfully without a skid lid. Also I have attached my face mask to the helmet which works well

It would have to be the Death Star, with converted Sterling SMG and MG42 for the Stormies.

I played at the UCAP Bunker on Wednesday and was like a mobile lighthouse using my new Fenix PD35 (960 lumens on turbo and strobe!). Had a hire smg so the torch was handheld. Whilst not tactically sound, using white light did allow me to see where I was going to avoid trip hazards and in an attempt to learn more of the complex site. Still managed to get geographically challenged on several occasions, and ended in the opposition team re-spawn. As an aside, I think that the Bunker should have some decent mapping for players, especially the new ones, to help work out where they are. A location gets referenced for an objective but there is no way for new players to know where the hell it is or how to get there. It would be even better if a marshal gave a quick orientation tour. With more familiarity I hope that there will be less requirement for lights and more tactical play. Will go back to using a green filter for navigation. The regulars are like ninjas running around in the dark and taking out players in the back. Tracer fire does look impressive in the dark though.

I like the idea of having real cap, or at least more realistic magazine loads with limited bb carried forcing mag changes and reloading. Less spray and pray, and more ammo conservation. Would also allow a level the playing field for those with GBB guns.

Cheers Lozart for the heads-up on the offer. I purchased a Warrior Falcon chest rig from UK Tactical for £53.95, so great value. Excellent customer service.
-
I have just purchased the Warrior Assault Systems Falcon chest rig in A-TACS FG camouflage. UK Tactical had a promotion offering 30% reduction on a selection of chest rigs a few weekends ago as well as a further 10% discount throughout July using code 'Month10' . They even included two free Double NSR magazine pouches as part of their sale, and these retail at £13 each. The total cost was £53.95, which was great value. I have yet to test the kit out at a skirmish but it certainly looks and feels like a quality product. Free P&P was included and the courier delivered exactly when stated. I received emails and texts with information on when the courier would arrive. Could not ask for a better service, and from my experience would highly recommend UK Tactical.

I can see the convenience of a folding stock for carrying or putting into gun bag/case but I am not a fan. Prefer the HK style collapsible stock. At least I now know not to shoot while folded, could be an expensive mistake. The maintainance guides are excellent, could be a good item for a sticky thread. Are there any storage issues with the G5 magazines in pouches, i.e. Cannot double stack them in chest rig due to size.
-
Thank you both for the information. Great to have feedback from owners and not just anti-gas hearsay or retailer propaganda. Appears that the G5 will be a good gas rifle to start with, and the maintenance is fairly straight forward. The polymer magazines are the key then, allowing all year round operation, shame that other manufacturers do not do the same. I did not expect the folding stock to break if it was in the folded position.

Does anyone own, or have experience with, a GHK G5 GBBR? What is it like to use? I know that it is not based on an original real steel but it appears to be a reasonably priced (£265) starter gas rifle. Its size would make it good for CQB. Also it has quad rails for attaching a flashlight and foregrip, etc. Does it reliably work in cold weather? Adverts claim it can go to -10 C, if true then it would be perfect for the UK weather, and useful all year. Are there other gas magazines that work with the GHK G5? The proprietary ones cost £45-55, so a cheaper option would be good. Especially as each low-cap mag only holds 38-40 bb. Can the stock tube/adaptor which allows M4 style stocks also take MP5 or HK416C collapsible stocks? Can you attach a sling to the G5? If so, is it one, two or three point attachment?
-
Off topic, but what make/model is your flashlight? How many lumens? Does it work well down in UCAP Bunker?

Whether they take the hit or not, I count the 'ouch' factor. I know they were hit.

Always buy a brand new mask. That way you know it is not damaged, and it will not stink of other peoples sweat (like some hire masks do). I purchased a cheap mesh one from EBay for £4.26 including P&P, took a while to arrive but does the job. I then carefully cut the straps off the securing material and attached the mask to my Fast helmet (same as TheGrover above ) . There are some YouTube videos on how to do it. No doubt there are lots of ways to get the perfect eye and face protection, and your own trial and error will develop what best suits your style/needs. The more experienced players can give advice on good brands. The key point is to make sure that you have good protection, it is worth the money.

I have just purchased a pair of the v12 goggles from this seller, and made a best offer of £17. You may be able to offer a little less. Good service from him and genuine kit.
-
I agree. I always work with the principle of caveat emptor. Not to say that I do not make the occasional snafu on eBay when I want an item and do not do the due diligence or just risk buying from China.
-
You could do a review on the shop, and the kit. Be interesting to know whether the clothing is quality and justifies the price. I notionally spent £500 on the website as I got carried away.
-
Great! That answers a question I had. Visited the UR Tactical website which had plenty of stock, and looked much cheaper than Hueys. How was the ordering process?
-
That issue of Airsoft International was the first airsoft magazine I purchased, and I liked the article on multicam black. The pictures did make it look very dark. Checked out Hueys site but they seem to lack stock in regular sizes.
-
The OPS multicam looks good, although I thought it would be much darker (more black with hint of other colours). Where did you buy it from?

Which loadout for Sennybridge FIBUA
Jedi_Master replied to ronin677's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
Sennybridge in July, you may want to pack your gortex kit for the Welsh weather in summer as it is bound to rain. -
Has anyone purchased from a company called ur-tactical.com? www.ur-tactical.com I think they are Hong Kong based, and sell the OPS (UR tactical) range of clothing and kit. This is the same kit as sold by Hueys. I assume that Hong Kong is the main supplier, and Hueys is the UK retailer (whose do not have much stock and charge more for it). (unable to make red)
