First off before I start I want to say this post is not for poking fun at people who do cringe stuff in Airsoft it's merely a discussion on what you find cringe worthy in the sport, end of the day people doing these things are still having fun and enjoying them selves so I don't intend any offense towards anyone that does these things. Keep doing you and what you enjoy.

Disclaimer done.

I was wanting to know what do others in here find most cringe worthy in Airsoft as I'm finding I have a few that I find worthy.

First for me is probably people who play as if they are someone in the real SF and post online pictures of them playing but allways blank out or blur their faces. Just don't get the reasoning behind it unless your embarrassed to admit you play Airsoft, even worse are the ones who go further and on game days will hang around all day with their face covered and not interact much with others, it's like come on man we are all here to have fun at least join in on the fun and socialise.

Anyone who gets genuinely angry when they lose a game mode. This isn't real life or death stuff. It just makes me think they never moved past the mentality of screaming down microphones on computer games.

people getting outplayed and their fragile ego's can't take it so they try to square up, had it a handful of times. They always walk away when you call their bluff.

i miss the good old days when there was sportsmanship and could have a laugh with new people you meet

Lol, i have a sporting background where throwing hands was pretty much compulsory, & getting banned or nicked wasnt even a thing, so having to bite my lip with some of these mouthy "toy soldiers" can be really difficult, but im too pretty for prison 😜, so gotta behave.

Oh god it's people who forget that these things are pretty terrible consistency/accuracy wise and end up accusing others of not taking hits. I was marshalling a few weeks back and a player I was stood behind told another to take their hits. I had to tell him his hop was too high, because I was watching his BBs get about 3/4 feet in front of the other player then flick up and over his head.

Ha, magnificent. As an aside, that was a great site. I did the original Town Assault there about 20 odd years ago.

Difficult to think of things that won't offend somebody🙃, but eg a player who turns up with new top of the line shiney speedsofter at a normal woodland skirmish. Guys who bring their lady friends with them but forget to tell them not to wear skintight tops and trousers. Player with lots of expensive kit who barely if ever gets out of the safe zone (thats me btw 😄)

Hey dude, this would be me but i have a medical condition so everyones lynx and deodorant and cig smoke etc hurts my head, causes head pressure, breathing difficulties/coughing,  blurred/double vision makes me feel like i have motion sickness , i zone out constantly like focal seizures and also a chance i end up bedridden with joint and muscle pain (my body attacks itself) for 3-4 days. Everyones fragrance to me smells incredibly strong or if i breathe through my mouth it tastes like ive licked the can  .

I live in complete isolation outside of airsoft and can only meet family or friends outside which most wont do so i sometimes go months without seeing anyone.. and airsoft is one of the few things i get to do so yeah i have to have my face covered all game, in safe zone , also in the shops the bus the train etc i get less weird looks at airsoft wearing a respirator than on a train or bus though 🤣 (no i dont wear a mili one on transport, is a half face one)

But before this when i used to play many years ago i would always interact and chat with others also at lunch and in safe zone, examining various guns and also subjecting people to my really bad jokes. I sure do miss those days.... now i always sit on my own at lunch in the car park

What i find really cringe in airsoft is the elitists who spend thousands but then shittalk new players or people returning who have purchased some guns and gear and just getting into it again i guess not everyone has a hefty budget or rich outside of the game

Hey dude from your prospective I can fully understand why you do what you do. No point making yourself ill. Well done on playing and doing what you do.  So for you it's definitely not a cringe moment.

Agree with the players who ridicule new or returning players because they haven't paid 1000s on guns and equipment. We all have our budgets and not everyone can buy expensive stuff. People forget some of these might be on an average wage and don't have the disposable income that others do, your life and wellbeing away from Airsoft comes first so can make the difference if it means paying the rent/mortgage or buying a new RIF and modding it.

I agree with this....and I don't. In these enlightened times, prospective employers WILL scour your social media footprint to see if you align with their perception of what a good candidate is (and to make sure nothing is going to bite them in the arse later down the line). Blurring out your face in photos can be an attempt to stop playing a game that quite a lot of people might think is a bit... odd, interfering with your job prospects.

If they're doing it to try and be "more ally", then yeah, cringe as fuck.

This actually happened.

Guy behind tree: "Push up lads!"

2 minutes later:

Guy still behind tree: "PUSH UP LADS LETS SEE SOME AGGRESSION - SECTION ATTACK NOW!"

2 minutes later - he grabs a bunch of new players after trying to rope me in to it all and proceeds to explain to them a rough section attack. He then watches them try it and all get hit and then goes back to the tree.

ENDEX

Guy still behind tree: "We lost because we didn't push up."

Reminds me of a certain Scottish based Walt we both know.....

Teams who assign themselves ranks & roles based on real steel.......

Get over yer selves ya walts 🤦‍♂️

Even worse when they expect others to call them by said rank. Yes I've seen this happen. Said bellend wasn't happy when we obliged but added a few colourful words to the end

A medical condition is what keeps me in too - Secondary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis - hence my user name, as SNAFU is a perfect decription of life with MS! 😆

But at least we both keep trying!

For me, the objective of Airsoft is to win, and I do my best to win while playing fair. The *aim*, is to have fun doing so.

It's a balancing act IMO. On the one hand, going all drill sergeant at your team and getting up in people's faces over the results is bad in any hobby. On the other, you kinda ideally want your team to be energised and giving it a good go. A very small minority of players seem to think trying at all is a bit cringe, lmao.

I find it's fun to try and gin up folks for a push, or to hold a spot. Most people want to get stuck in but get a bit lost or a bit overwhelmed, so giving them a job tends to work. If they're hiding behind a tree all game as the action moves away from them, a gentle nudge to come along with a few others seems to work.

Especially if you remind them why they're there. That's way to cool a gun to not come push up with us, you wanna cover our flank while we try and go straight in?

I can really get that from a modern prospective. One reason I only post Airsoft content on my Airsoft Instagram that has no connection to my main main socials. (Other than my photography one tagged in it) And Facebook I don't even use anymore so that doesn't worry me. But fully understand that concern.

I tend to play on the "under 18's" kids type days with my boys and the ultimate cringe is the guy we refer to as "full auto dad" (or FAD for short).

His boy is great, good player, get stuck right in, but dad has to keep yelling at him to do this, and do that, raar raar etc, the kids having a blast and completely ignoring his dad.

Heard him telling the kid at lunch to move like this and shoot like this.

Dad however runs around like a speed laced chicken, blasting everyone with full auto (hence the name).

Once he cornered my boy and from about 2 meters, lit him up, full auto and really upset him.

We had a quick word and that was it, FAD was on a hate offensive for me..... I mean, grow up, we're just LARPing with plastic guns ffs.

The full auto players are always annoying when they only use full auto even at 5m engagement distance. Like come on man over kill. But then again I'm a GBBR player so full auto is a rare thing for me. Suppose to some I may fall into a cringe as I use real caps and only engage when I can clearly see the enemy.
