Actually, i don't mind getting the A&K svd. Airsoft world sell it two tone for £90 (well within budget) then i can get a svd rail and install a scope. This seems like an idea cause i've seen how good the A&k svd is

You'd have difficulty zeroing the sight with a ris mounted optic. I tried I with my old SVD and the scope didn't pitch down enough to be anwhere near where the BB went. That's why I went with a reproduction PSO-1 after trying the RIS-and-western-scope combination. I got much better results with the PSO-1 too, and an SVD looks more authentic with one.

The replicas are about £80 on ebay, £115 on actionhobbies and on AirsoftWorld they have a real one for £225.

right just came onto this thread after i couldnt hold it in no longer, dont go for a sniper or gbbr

1.because they are too expensive for your budget

2.they need alot of upgrades

not having a go but alot of people here have been through the sniper stage and trust me its hard work to get the most out of it.

anything from jbbg or a bison gun is awful, simple as that.

get a aeg and upgrade the hop rubber and barrel and you could have a long range aeg,the brands i would reccomend are: G&G,Ics (very good),G&p,king arms, aps,tm

buy one and save bits and upgrade bits

i even put it in bold to make a point

Nah, nothing will be seen.

Oh and frizzle? Like macus (M_P) said, A&K guns are usually hit & miss. I was very lucky with my SVD, I'd bought it just before a bad batch came in. I don't know the quality of the SVDs atm, but I wouldn't get one if I were you. Get a proper AEG and have a go with actual skirmish-ready airsoft guns before joining the massed ranks of new players who buy sniper rifles, and then get dissapointed when they get owned by AEGs.

because it would probably weigh more than you?

snow wolf's version of the m82 can be lifted with one arm easily unlike the original socom gear m82.

My friend had one and I was allowed to have a go; I slung it round my back for a min and collapsed.

Your friend had a £1200 gun? Not sure I believe that. Anyway any AEG modelled on an AT/AM rifle is not very economical or smart, as the whole point on the real M107/M82A1 is to screw things up with a .50 BMG round. As every weapon in airsoft fires 6mm BB pellets with a legal cap of 450fps, the sort of performance you'd want of an M107 will not be available (or maybe even possible)

Some guy brought a M82 sniper (dunno which one) but they all must be a similar weight.

He had to leave it in his sniper position each time he died because it was too heavy to walk to dead zone and back again.

If you're not willing to put the money in required for a sniper rifle, don't bother.

Or do it because you don't take a hint, and them whine when some guy kills you with his rental gun at range.

Not quite, The socom Gear and hurricane versions are indeed very heavy but the snow wolf is far lighter- still no feather but its certainly manageable.

Ak47frizzle, don't take this as a plus point or excuse to buy one, They're pretty awful and impractical. That and I will personally hunt you down and kill you.

Ed/random mod, please merge these two posts. Thanks

Same here. Now it's suspicious that we haven't hear a peep out of frizzle since I posted my mistrust...

I pm'd him saying if he sold all his gear and got a decent aeg and nothing from justsh**guns.com for about £200 he could easily upgrade it to our power a sniper for half the price but he won't fricking listen -_-

I agree.

To finish up; do not get a sniper unless you have £400 or more to spend, know what you're doing and don't have wildly unrealistic expectations.
