  1. I'm starting to agree with you Ian, I don't know how long these loose bore barrels ha e been around but I can't find much in the way of reference material on testing and results, even on Airsoft Mechanics. As you point out the barrel's performance on the bench doesnt necessarily suggest results that could be replicated in the field. But I am willing to keep investigating and trying any suggestions, I have been given a thesis on ballistics to read so I may be gone sometime! Anyway I'm starting to think that the gearbox may be part of the issue as the resting place of the gear and there fore the nozzle allows for the next BB in the hop to sit in such a way that when the nozzle moves forward it is pushed up and mis feeds/folds the upper edge of the hop rubber in trapping the BB. So I'll try a range of products I've found specifically for the barrel and probably strip the gearbox again to make sure I haven't missed anything obvious!
  2. Hey guys, I've been lurking around this forum for a few weeks now, but now is the time that I introduce myself, because I've just moved to Aylesbury from Hungary. I've been playing airsoft for some years now. Back there I had a team and I even worked as an airsoft mechanic for a few years as a second job until I got bored with it. Nowdays I just build custom guns for myself and of course play whenever I can. Unfortunately I will still have to wait a bit before my first game here, because I couldn't bring my rifs with me on the plane. Back in Hungary we (or it's "they" now) have airsoft events the way I prefer. Most of them are considered to be milsim by UK standards. A lot of the games have dresscode (no armbands), no hi-caps, strict command chain, teamwork, radio control, etc. Anything below 100 participants are considered to be a smallish event. 200-250 is the typical. Most of the games are in forests, or in abandoned soviet military bases. I just love patrolling the forest and hunt for the enemy. I hope to find games like that over here (well, without the soviet bases ), as I'm not a big CQB fan. If you know a game like that around Aylesbury, let me know, I will be happy to join. It'll be nice to skirmish with you guys and see how it's done here. Peter
  3. The only one I've seen is this one: http://www.socomtactical.net/clothing-and-equipment/holsters/asg-strike-holster-for-dan-wesson-6-8-black.html , but it's a belt mounted holster only. Can't suggest anything specifically for MOLLE mounting, other than the generic ones you may have seen. As regards the shoulder holster, I've got one to carry my Glock when I'm running light with just a sniper rifle and that is comfortable enough, but I doubt it would be so over a tac vest or with something as heavy as a DW Revolver swinging about in it, as there is nothing to hold the holster in close to your body other than the shoulder and back straps.
  4. If it's anything like the G&G SCAR-L CQC (and I believe it is) if you buy the standard one you get a long barrel, if you get the light version you get a short barrel with an extender. Either way the inner barrel should be the same length I beleive. The Light version (short barrel) is significantly shorter but the standard is no longer than a standard M4A1, the only difference might be that the RIS extends further (on the T4-18 that is).
  5. +1 Not just shit, Marvel's Agents Of Shit. Is the nozzle particular to Polarstar in anything other than name and length?
  6. That front end is here. Whatever you spend on an ex-rental gun, or used parts, remember that you can get a new CM.028 for £78.61 posted from gunfire.pl - for sure, not what you are looking for, but between them and taiwangun.com they have pretty much all the .028 variants for between £80-90 posted, and with them, even though you may not want say, a plastic receiver, or a gearbox, or whatever, you do get all the screws, the bolt cover and rail, the little spring which pushes the rail back against the top cover catch (which nobody seems to sell on its own), wiring which is not only passable but excellent to be reused as the signal wire if/when you want a MOSFET in your new build (because the insulation is very tough), and of course the veritable Kalashnikov of the airsoft world, in that you have to do something really stupid to it to fuck it up, a CYMA 02 Ver3 gearbox (which can be had for £37.50 but most ppl don't know that and happily pay £51.34). I'm not suggesting that you do buy one. By all means build your own; fiddling with my guns is almost as much fun as using them to me, just in a different kind of way. I am saying compare the price anyone is offering to what you can have new for the same amount, because as someone else recently stated on here somewhere (Giant Kiwi possibly), the prices which many people imagine their used AEG's and parts are worth are out there with Dr. Sheldon Cooper compared to used sales of anything else generally, market forces pertaining to supply and demand particularly, and just plain rational thought...
  7. Just find the sites near you on here: http://www.airsoftmap.net/Skirmish/ Gun is fine don't need to do anything, UKARA is all about purchasing new Realistic imitiation firearms not existing ones. You also need some protective gear, face mask etc. Some of the sites will let you rent just that but you'll soon want your own if you intend to stick to it. Ammo, battery and hopefully you are good to go.
  8. There are universal rail mounts that fit around anything tubular, which defines the Sten.
  9. Right, thanks, never mind it was just a thought, I could custom build one as a backstrap attachment,I have access to a workshop. There is the Elite Force Walther PPQ, that seems awesome haven't heard anything bad about it.
  10. I have this http://www.actionhobbies.co.uk/Dan-Wesson-CO2-Revolver-Black-2-5-Inch_A10HKH.aspx?nh=171355#.U2SrXfldWqs Great gun. Nice feel and weight, however if you want to use it for CQB you will need downgrade shells. Also you can mod all of the dan wessons to be stupidly powerful, but then they are too powerful to use anywhere. Easy to strip and you can see everything and you don't have to worry about anything jumping out or springing out when you strip it.
  11. Condensation forms on small particles on the glass. So if you had a perfectly clean glass then in theory they would never form. Practically that is impossible. So the second best thing is a material on the lens that makes the water more likely to form bigger particles so that it rans down and doesn't produce a fogging effect. You could for example use washing up liquid rubbed onto the lense as it breaks down the surface tension of the water droplets. This is basically what any effective anti fogging product does - it breaks the water tension allowing the water to flow down the googles. Toothpaste may very well do that. The fundamental issue however is despite the material over time the water will carry it away. The amount of condensation could easily exceed the capabilities of your anti fogging material and eventually it will fog up. There just isn't anything physically that can be done about it. All of the known solutions and any solution based on applying something to the lens will fog up eventually. Its inevitable.
  12. I think anything that could protect you or your gun(namely holsters and slings) is worth spending a bit of money on. Stuff like ESS Advancer V12s are available for around £20 with the 3 lens set and Heroshark eyepro was even less than that last time I checked.
  13. A very quick run down of scopes: - Anything with zoom - unnecessary in Airsoft since ranges are <100m and mostly less than 60m. Obviously not appropriate for an MP5. - Aimpoint style - Easy to make robust against BB hits with a killflash, but are tubes and tend to restrict vision more than other close up sights. - Reflex - hard to near impossible to protect against BB strikes. They are by far the most open and easy to acquire target scope but they don't last very long. A BB shield will help a little but they really lack robustness and they get shot out pretty quickly. - Holo scopes - They aren't really eotech holo's, they are just basically red dot but in a short package with a rectangular window. You can get covers for taking BB strikes and they are usually pretty robust against BB strikes. My advice is either holo or aimpoint and probably holo for an mp5 in preference to the aimpoint.
  14. Rather than starting a new thread; I bought a set of these the other day: http://www.airsoftworld.net/acm-pro-goggle.html A clone of the marui version. I'll be testing them out at a skrim on Sunday. It's more for the fan than anything. I will be wearing a pair of shooting glasses underneath too as I don't know how good the lenses are ( they appear to be solid but I aint risking that shizzle). I sat with them on after work in a very warm room for ages and let them fog up, then turned on the fan. Cleared in 20 seconds or so.
  15. Had no idea he was dodgy. Has anyone received anything from him?
  16. Cheers for that guys. Samurai, yes - at one point during a particularly hamfisted reassembly the piston missed the guides and turned a bit hence the marks. Never thought about the grease getting to the hop though, good point! So I'm thinking that maybe this would be a good opportunity to swap out the gears for maybe a 16:1 set to raise the RoF, sorbo pad and AoE adjustment. Would I need anything else to go down that route?
  17. If you want the best bullpup and you have that figure to spend then there is only one to go for, Real Sword type 97/97b, run on any stanag mag, 97b has slightly faster ROF courtesy of a higher speed motor than the 97, build quality is, without any question or argument the best out there, I got mine from airsoft world, sign up for the 'new shopper' thingy and you'll get an email about 10 minutes later with a discount code which brought mine under the figure you've got This is mine, have changed the flash hider for the little suppressor and it's got an e mag in for you to see, range is simply stupid, genuinely out ranges pretty much anything else (not like most people think they're rifle shoots 70m)
  18. You're welcome, I went through this very voyage of discovery fitting a Magpul MOE hand guard to my TM M4A1. Anything else you need pointers on just ask! While I think of it - don't forget to thread the battery wires through the delta ring BEFORE you put it all together. Voice of experience.
  19. I am told the G&G hop up unit itself is pretty decent. The issue with its hop up, like most, is that it uses a relatively stiff bucking and a standard nub. A softer bucking (45 degrees maybe a little more) and a H nub would potentially make the hop more consistent. The barrel on the other hand is pretty standard affair in the G&G CM16, so a tighter precision barrel can certainly improve range at the cost of some accuracy. Its not entirely clear that either mod will necessarily improve anything, you may make things worse or gain no measurable performance at all.
  20. Personally I would say don't upgrade anything yet. Get the gun, get familiar with its range and accuracy and generally how well it performs. Compare it to the other guns other people have brought with them, stock and customised and then determine what to do from there. What I am saying is don't change it yet, because what you have works pretty well out of the box. The biggest upgrades for range and accuracy are probably going to come from minor hop up adjustments in the beginning.
  21. No, I haven't checked anything internally, I am just assuming it's the mags because they clip into place, and then they just drop about 2mm down. I think the mag goes into place and the little spring piece which holds the bb's pushes the mag down a bit. I was on ehobby Asia last night and I read some reviews on a m4 magazine made by G&p and two of them said that they recommend that certain mag if you're a owner of a G&p gun. I haven't got the original mag that comes with it, I just use the ones that were with my L85 A2
  22. Well, I had a reasoned reply, but Windows decided to update so I'll just say this for now: in my more egotistical moments I could fondly imagine that my opinion drives legislation, but IRL I'm yet to be convinced that the process of law making has anything so sensible as the opinion of people where the rubber meets the road, so to speak, at its core. However, there is no law requiring you to wear a helmet to ride a crosser on private land, nor pads, nor boots, but I'd be surprised if you could find an event which would allow you to compete like that.
  23. Yes I know with this site im taking money out of the UK airsoft industry but the 3 items I got are not sold in the UK only on EBAY but in the end they come from Hong Kong or China anyway if I did get them from EBAY. And I looked around 20 or 30 UK retailers to find them first and no joy. Pro’s They use a PayPal facility witch is very good that means your protected. They give you the cost of P&P as you add items to your shopping cart. They say it would take between 10 to 14 working days for delivery and I got mine in 7 days. They send your items as a gift so there is no import tax to pay if you as them to in the comments box. Con’s If anything is wrong with you item’s you have to pay postage back. They don’t get back to you when you contact us.
  24. Hi mate, yes we have it sorted. He works for an rc car shop & recently have had a few peeps with airsoft batteries that were wired in reverse for some reason. He was making sure & not assuming anything as I'm lost with this kind of thing
  25. Haven't seen anything on the UK one recently. What other decent ones are there?
