JamesAirsofterAgent reacted to Monty in Mauser C96 "sniper" build
Over the past year I've been wanting to do this build. Maybe I'll have a go at it this year after I've got a car.

I drew it out to see what it should look like after I've done all the work to it.

Base gun is the HFC C96 rifle, my plans for the rifle is to chop down the outer barrel, thread the remaining barrel to attach a silencer, cut down the top receiver to align with the front of the ejection port, JB weld a rail to the receiver and somehow upgrade the barrel / hop up as I don't think the range or accuracy will be very good out of the box.

Should be a funky little marksman rifle when completed. If I ever end up starting the project I'll keep this thread updated.

Both I and my dad are first aid trained, but neither of us carry first aid kits, this is mainly down to the fact that we've got no spare pouches on our PC.

However I know that from his past experiences ( heart attacks, dislocated knee, serious bleeding) that he can treat all of these, within minutes he will always be on scene and helping ( he knows all the injuries through his work and football

I like to be as self reliant as possible...

I think while most sites will have a First Aider by necessity to tick the H&S and Insurance box, (apart from the few sites that have medical professionals on their day off) they will generally be no better qualified than the average office or factory first aider, and that's hit and miss quality wise.

And while they can maybe do the whole CPR thing (I've never seen need for this - thankfully), in my humble opinion, while they may love stocking their first aid box with all the gauze, eye wash and burn dressings they can, maybe with a defibrillator (for which, they aren't trained) tucked under the sling and surgical scissors, when it comes to most typical skirmish injuries - bumps, scratches, nettle stings, welts, hi-cap finger, ankle twists, and assorted boo-boos etc, they just don't make things better the way my mother can, so I'd rather try to do it myself.

If it's something more serious than a bit of a boo-boo, site First Aiders tend to be unable to really help anyway, and refer you on to A&E, your GP or local GUM clinic as necessary.

And I'm always mindful of announcing my injuries too loudly, lest the resident survivalist come up offering his KFC wet wipe, needle and thread all pulled from the handle of a Bowie knife.

So I rolled up to the location. It was a generally large multi-activity site, And it was rather complex. We walk up to a building, enquire about the airsoft before being ushered into a dark tent next door.

Friendly place. Nice guy doing the ref-stuff.
First thing that hits me is many CM16 carbines all lined neatly in a row with a bag of 2000 Bio-BBs next to them.

Me, Jacob and George (Friends) sort out the payments, Get informed of site rules (No anomalies, Standard rules) Oddly, 90% were common-sense based. Odd.

We get suited & booted, No expense spared really, I was genuinly impressed when you have access to unlimited bottles of water (Not the cheap stuff, either) for no extra cost.

We stroll out of the tent, After being initiated, I became friends with a boy known as Chandler. Top Lad, Site regular, Became my 'Partner' for the night.

Oddly enough, We walk past a camp site full of 7-10 year olds, Rather alarming considering we all had RIFs and camo getabouts.

We enter the site, People take it in turns to test their gun. I place in my mag. Roll the wheel on the bottom, Flick of the safety and fire 3 shots down a long grass pathway. It is unbelievably satisfying. I'd waited years for this. It was 100% worth it.

We roll up to these tents and are assigned teams for the game. Attackers and Defenders, Defenders had to protect their medic in a small huddle of tents. To get medic'd you'd have to run into an empty tent and wait for the medic to cross, Hence adding a sense of risk for the medic. It was a no-win game for the defenders, The Medic would die and it was a waiting game to find out when. Me, Chandler and a guy in a blue hoodie roll into one tent with two windows. I take right side, Watching across to the left flank, Chandler doing the opposite. Blue hoodie man is ducking in and out of a gap in the right edge, Considerably effective.
I had 3 deaths, And 'kills' that round. The reason I'm so vague is that I never saw people throw their hand up and go 'HIT' but I saw BBs flying at a deadly rate towards people, and after I'd get enemies patting me on the back saying 'Nice shots man' etc.

Second game I despised, Purely because it didn't fit my playstyle.
It was in an open field with a 'fort' of tyres in the middle. inside there were plastic cannisters painted gold, these were ingeniusly reffered to as 'Golds' The team who got in and collected the most at the end of the game won. You could only pick up one at a time mind you.

First game was shambolic. I get shot down, only just get 1 gold and thats it, opposition win. Next game, Me and chandler leave our guns at respawn and sprint to get golds. I take most of the shots, Allowing him to swoop in and grab one for the team. I walk back to respawn and grab my gun. Queue ten minutes of being hit and 0 kills before them losing on the basis that they didn't put the golds in the right place, So ref declares us winners by default.

    The next game was AMAZING...
We had to push up through dense woodland to capture and control a point for 5 minutes, before pushing back into the enemy spawn to finish the game, Controlling the point was great. Call me a Codsofter but I was to cool shooting out of a tower whilst people ran in to take the point. the five minutes ended and we rushed, It was the best most dramatic moment in the game. We reach a hill and look down to see many people in tin huts below, We peak from cover and gain a fair few hits, Whilst hearing metal clinking at BBs bounced of the chicken wire. We slide down the hill and its CQB, Guns on Semi. Ref calls 'You can't shoot over the top of the huts' I thought this encouraged smart corner gameplay, I crouch to listen for enemies, Before seeing a gun-barrel waving underneath the corrigated-metal, I get full-auto'd to the leg from about a metre away. as I limped back to respawn I heard ref call game over, win for the attackers. It's important to add I did get kills that game, Just nothing special, Just emptying mags into a hut below. Damn cool though.

Luckily my wound wasn't bleeding, Just multiple blood red circles all down my knee, I'm not complaining though, I just looked abit stupid in PE today.

Next game, We started in the huts, And we had to push out. It was horrible whilst adrenaline-pumping at the same time. Remember the hill from earlier? we were now pushing up it, People spraying covering fire whilst we scramble up, Taking the fight to them. This was when I had my first confirmed kill. Not one, But two, And it was bloody worth it.

I was far ahead of my teammates, I was sat behind a bush, winding my mag while my team fell back. I see a guy peaking a corner in the CQB point that we contested earlier, The same guy from earlier aswell. So I click it up to full auto. Lean out and land 5 BBs into his chest, And send him off to respawn with a cheeky wink. Then I rush round the corner and tap fire the next guy who was in a bush about twenty metres back.

    Game ends, We won.

Summary? Great night, Great games, Great people.
I like airsoft. I like this forum.
    Expect to see me round.

PS: It's my brithday today. got a nice sum of money to start airsoft, Because at my site you can rent at no additional cost, I'm tempted to get a pistol as my first gun, Thoughts? This with This Mag ? I'm not sure if the cross-company thing would work. Fill me in

2000 people would mean they've made £170,000 from entry fees alone, that's immense. I wonder how much of that they need to actually run the event.

They'll probably make that much again at least from everyone who goes as well, buying a new gun, some spare parts, some accessories, ammo/gas, repairs, or even food and drink. Mental money, wish I could host a gigantic annual airsoft event lol.

Personally if it was hammering it down, I wouldnt bother going. I'm not there to pretend that I'm a soldier, I'm just there to play airsoft. I wouldnt pay £50 and get soaked all day.
If it was light rain fair enough but I've got a full time job that doesnt pay sick pay, so if i get ill I'm buggered. The mortgage comes first in my life i'm sorry to say.

It's an Alien world to them, I'm not justifying their actions just trying to explain not to take it in the worst way. Think of this way, you're a squaddie/ex squaddie, you've never played airsoft, all you see and of heard of it are the Walts, you're going to assume its all that way; we just do as humans, its the same way racism and all other descrimination happens, past experiences being associated with all future experiences, like cavemen learning not to eat a certain berry because it gives you the shits. Of course they're not going to understand, we're all men right (for the most part) , we all like guns and action etc. - They get paid to do it and given all the gear to do it with, of course they're going to think hmmpf mugs paying for kit we get for free and running around with toy guns.... It's just a source of banter for them, just like paintballers are for the majority of airsofters!

I'll be honest before I got into airsofting, I'd always liked guns, had the odd airsoft gun to twat about with shooting my mates and plinking. I saw scout the doggies videos and thought that "airsofters" were insane paying grands for kit and £300 for toy guns. Then, one day I took the plunge, I got involved after enjoying a game of paintballing but desiring realism. I thought this is a perfect excuse to buy all the cool military stuff I've always put off as a waste of money. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying anyone is a c*nt for buying loads of expensive gear, I do it myself now, I'm obssessed with accurate kit!

I've just read through all the remarks posted by those plonkers who chances are have never served and/or never seen peacekeeping duties or operations, I have come to the conclusion that because I wear my old combat jacket and my boys wear there's for target practice and training in my back garden, that we are all pathetic, pencil pushing wasters

I can garuntee they'd be doing similar if life turned out differently for themselves

I doff my hat to you MTP for not rising to there taunts and not displaying the same foul language as them (and I'm far from a saint with my language)

I'm an ex serviceman and respect what people do for a hobby, I play with rc cars and boats (build a lot myself) but does that mean I can't cause I'm not a racing driver or in the navy ?? no it does not

For some, this is the closest to combat they will get (been there, done it and then some) I find it a mark of respect if people are taking our military techniques and applying to civilian life, these people forget who started these hobby's in the 1st place.......ex military personnel

If u want an rif you can strip the gun after playing a few months of skirmishing and collecting photos as a defence as age does not matter in manufacturing an rif just have to have a defence
