  1. Some good links there, thanks guys, I've got a Para helmet that I can run with either MTP or DPM covers and an Emmerson FAST PJ in MTP which fits, but is snug, I'm having trouble getting a comms system to fit it. I just wondered if any companies actually made sizes or its a one size fits all and the best you can hope for is an adjustment wheel, (it gives you about 58-60cm)

  2. Good luck and i hope this doesn't affect your clearance or work?

I feel for you having to succumb to what you see as unfair intrusion and censorship and as has already been posted, it is difficult to give any advice without know what their grounds for labeling your photos "unprofessional" are?

You may well have a case for them prejudicing or discriminating against you, but if as has already been said, such images could cause reputational damage to your organisation, they may feel validated in their claim.

You mention "clearance"? Are you talking about some form of reference checks? or some form of security vetting?

I have to deal with security clearance and vetting as part of my current job and I can understand why some organisations would feel that certain photos of their employees posted on social media can show said organisation in a bad light. Even MPs have come a cropper over this!

For most organisations, its not that they find what you do unacceptable, its that if something is linked to their organisation that has the potential to cause negative press, they get twitchy.

and to the uninformed, Airsoft can seem to trigger a range of responses from "blokes playing soldiers" to "gun nuts training for god knows what?!"

  3. Welcome Jack, im based out of the Windsor area when im in the UK, the site near maidenhead is a woodland paint ball site, my son has been there and says its not very good. The Mall in Reading is excellent, my son amd I have been there a couple of times and love it, very well organised and very thorough. Not been to xsite, I'll have to check that one out!

As everyone says, hire to start with, try before you buy, get a feel of what you like and whats out there.

The forum is a great resource of info and advice, enjoy!

Might see you on the field sometime!

  4. 200/116 is the height and chest in cms.

Its the standard sizing format for all British MoD clothing, upper body is height and chest, lower/trousers is waist/seat/leg, again in cms.

I've got a WAS DCS, its a great quality pc, excellent and does the job, I love it! but I'm only 6'1" and I've had to adjust it pretty much as far as I can, so that the plate sits lower at the front, personal preference really, main reason being it hurts like a mofo getting shot in my "muffin tops"!! lol

(note to self, more work on abs!)

  5. The weather! Ambient temp can be a bugger and needs to be factored in, mine can run hot in the summer and barely function in the winter. So in the summer have an NPAS fitted so you can turn the gas down. In the winter you have to carefully manage your gas type, (I find propane the most powerful) minimising cool down (don't degas your mags quickly or do lots of full auto) and trying to keep you mags warm.

Apart from that its the realism I love! It's gas all the way baby!

  6. Cavninja, how are those boots? I just got exactly the same pair for christmas but I haven't had a chance to get out and give them a go yet. Specifically, how waterproof are they?

Very comfy, I've only done a couple of CQB skirmishes with them so far, so not really put them through their full paces. I had planned some decent hill walking between Christmas and New Year, but i think it'd be a bit daft given the current weather conditions. I've used Salomon boots for years and worn them in some atrocious conditions and they've always served me well, very comfortable and very water proof.

  7. Gotta respect the commitment, Cavninja. Shame it's gone into what is ultimately a spiffy version of what at least 60% of UK airsofters are wearing & carrying. Just imagine how individual you could have been with a Modern Russian loadout... there are so many patterns of camo and uniform cut that you could be pretty certain to be the only one in the UK...

Cheers Ian, fair one, but I just like multicam! lol sad but true

  8. Hey Mack, what you've got there is good condition late issue "Soldier '95" DPM Jacket, shirt and trousers. As you mentioned the TRF is for 38 Bde, a resident/regional Bde in Northern Ireland. All British issue kit comes with a small Union Flag on the left shoulder. Formation TRFs are worn on the left shoulder and Regimental TRFs would be worn on the right shoulder.

The kit is pretty good, reasonably hard wearing, but as I'm sure you will see on ebay, is quite plentiful and cheap.

The jacket is based on the old Arctic Windproof, sometimes called a "SAS Smock", hoods for cold/extreme weather, lots of pockets and slotted button as they're more robust and easier to operative with gloved hands.

This kit was common issue and would have been right up to the introduction of MTP, firstly in a similar cut, still known as "Solider 95" style and then later in the "PCS" (Personal Clothing System) cut.

  9. OK, so having figured out how to strip the mags. checked the O rings and done the leak test in water, the 6 leaking mags all appear to be leaking from the filler nozzle. The O rings are all good, no damage or leaks. I found this great web site for spares and expanded diagrams http://eagle6.co.uk/shop/

I ordered new valves and tried fitting, still no joy!

    I'm stumped!

I've also got an M4 STANAG type GBB mag that has developed a leak from the exit port, I was told by a tech in a shop that it was my exit nozzle and bought a new one, fitted it and yup! Still leaking!

Any info or advice gratefully guys, thanks

  10.

Game uniform requirements for my team was to wear woodland camouflage. Urban camo patterns are beyond useless either way, there's no reliable way to conceal yourself when your backdrop is bricks and white painted walls.

Fair one, urban camo uniforms are pretty much Operation Broken Pencil! totally pointless! The best cam is your field craft and personal skills, especially in an urban/CQB environment, cover from view and cover from fire, use of shadows etc.

We did use to employ an urban cam on AVs in Berlin, a block pattern of black/white/grey, but thankfully that never made it on to clothing!!
