  1. Fair one mate, I've served in many operational brigades, from 48 (Gurkha) Infantry Bde, my first, to 16 (Air Assault) Bde, my last, but if anyone asks, I'm always Household Division, Blue Red Blue, through and through!! Lol Ah! The Tigers??!! "Give us a roar! Show us her paw"!! Lol
  2. I would have thought you'd have said The Queen's Division mate?
  3. Or they're still working out your browsing history??!!!
  4. I agree Kurtz, perhaps we can start a new thread? "Here's one I heard the other day!...." for the best line in bullsh1t we've heard from the latest Navy SEAL Delta Ranger SAS Para underwater knife fighting instructor and dolphin trainer?! I was once at Rugby club drinks with a work colleague from "south of the river" when one of the guys starts bullsh1tting us about how he was asked to join MI6! I nearly p*ssed myself when my mate strung him along and not only gave him enough rope to hang himself, but also the materials to make a scaffold too!! Perhaps it could be a new sport? "Walt-fishing"??!!!
  5. TBH Kurtz, this isn't just a particular airsoft problem, if it is indeed a problem in airsoft? (I've never actually met a "Walt" while airsofting! Maybe the "Walts" have "Vet-Sense" and hide when they smell us??!! lol). There are many who claim to have served and are now in all walks of life, the advent of social media just makes it easier to spread the word! I'm sure there always has been and I'm sure they'll continue to try and blag it until Walt hunting takes over from fox hunting as the blood sport of choice! A friend of mine is a Town Crier in his spare time, another Vet, he's actually pretty good, but he's just outed a guy who is also a Town Crier for Walting and this bozo actually does it professionally and makes money off it! Check out https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Walter-Mitty-Hunters-Club-HQ/501261976579581 That's Stolen Valour right there!! There's good and bad, in every one, So sang Stevie wonder and Paul McCartney! Noobs, Vets, experienced airsofters, I'm sure you find good and bad in each as you do in all walks of life. The secret is to smile and walk away from the throbbers and to hold out your hand and make a friend of the good guys. As for Teams with a reputation? Well, good or bad, I guess that depends on their profile on social media.
  6. Welcome to the sport and the forum mate, there's a real mix bag on here which makes even better, loads of great advice and as everyone says, play fair and have fun! That's vid is gleaming! Can't stop laughing!!! Hahahahahaha
  7. Welcome to the sport and the forum! Some great advice on here, the guys know their stuff, I like you came to this with a military background and was drawn in to it by handling a GBBR in an airosft shop. I've bought GBBRs since day 1 and never looked back! Sure, I've had my ups and downs, bad days, good days, expensive days and days when nothing seems to work! Too hot in the summer, too cold in the winter! The gun's fps that is! But I love 'em!! I'm actually looking at my first AEG at the moment, a G&G L85A2 AFV, (It should be called an L22) but the only reason I'm looking at it is they don't make a GBB one! And yes, it would be nice as a fall back on the cold pesky days when i want to hose pipe bods like the rest of em! For realism, good all round performance and decent value for money I do like WE, I've got a 416 and an L85, but I'm also looking at the GHK M4 10" CQB , because they're reputation for reliability is awesome! I've seen them shoot and was very envious! Good look, good hunting and welcome to the mistress of airsoft! She is one expensive biaaatch!!!
  8. I agree with pretty much all of this, age is no indicator of being a good bloke or a sports man, I'm an old crusty in my mid 40s, I play with my teenage son, were lucky enough to have a fair amount of gear and after 23 years in the army, I don't mind chatting with anyone, young , old, new or vet. I'm just happy to play, enjoy the sport and meet like minded people. Stick with it buddy.
  9. There's a really good intro to comms guide somewhere on here with suggestions and recommendations of various types of radios, the baofengs are pretty good, cheap and lots of choice for variances.
  10. Soooo tempted by the G&G L85 AFV from Red Wolf in the states! I can get that, 10 x Emags and a for grip for £370 including shipping! But will i get raped by Mr Tax man on delivery???

had to pay £73 for a rare US edition games console - worth £200 max - they got me by the bollox, yeah you can appeal, show all invoices but that is to HRMC - not RM.

Oh and you only got 14 days to pay RM so what do you do except bring lots of KY in case you get shafted

Cheers SD! I'm thanking you but my wallet ain't!! lol I may get the 10 x Emgas from Red Wolf, about $60US, so with import tax and delivery i think its about £70?

  11. http://www.theshopfittingsstore.co.uk/slatwall-panels/2400x1200mm-slatwall-panels/white-slatwall-panels-click-to-see-discounts-/prod_164.html Top tip Ted! Thanks, I think I may have just found the solution for my gun displaying - book shelves - and eclectic military hat collection needs!!
  12. Welcome aboard mate, Mr B is spot on, the Warrior stuff is awesome quality, well worth the money, Helikon is good quality and you can find lots of UK companies on the web, such as military 1st or Helmet World or Flecktarn.co.UK where you can pretty much any camo. Also try eBay as lots of companies use it.
  13. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VzSTFRXiDIg Ah! Quality film, haven't seen this for years! and some great inspiration for loadouts too!
  14. Hmm interesting Ian, got any pics or names of the stuff I could search for? I have two rifles and three pistols at the moment, so I guess you're looking at about 13kg all up weight. I found some 18mm and 25mm pegboard on Amazon, I'm guessing it's referring to the thickness, I would have thought 1" thick would be pretty strong?
  15. Lovin' the Man-Cave Mack! Tacti-cool!!!! i gotta make me one of those PC/Helmet display stands!! And it's in camo too!!! I'm moving in to a new place at the end of the month that has a spare down stairs reception room, I'm thinking Man-Cave/Study/workshop/gun room/memorabilia!!! I'm looking at some peg board and hooks to display all my gun on one wall, if any one has any experience or trip for me, I'd much appreciate it Lovin' this thread already!!
  16. I agree with both Loz and JC, I think wearing it at the airsoft site is fine, but on your way to and from? No! Put a coat on take off the top layer, that's what most people I've seen do anyway. I will travel to the site in boots and trousers and just wear a fleece or something on top. Can you imagine waltzing in to the services looking like something out of Zero Dark Thirty??!! Same run as your guns, in a case or bag on the way to and from. I've met some really great people while I've been airsofting, never met any Walts while i've been airsofting, but I've met a few through my work!! lol. most guys I meet at sites are very respectful and if they meet a serving member of the forces or a veteran are very happy to chat and ask questions. My alarm bells only start ringing when somebody claims they can't talk about what they've done "because its classified"!!! Biaaatch purleeeese! That's the biggest Walten-indicator there is!! lol As JC says, don't be that guy! Be the guy that plays well, take it all in the spirit and takes his hits!
  17. Drifting slightly off topic, but its been mentioned here, is "stolen valour" or "Walting". In airosft many like to dress and adopt varying forms of military kit, be it out of necessity, (it's practical, comfortable or camouflaged) or because they like it and it looks cool or because they are trying to replicate and exact look or appearance that may have been worn/used in a particular campaign or war. when people raise the issue of stolen valour or walting, surely the crux of the matter is the context and if the person is trying to pass themselves off as something they're not? So you could have a 100% authentic WW2 loadout, no one is going to try to accuse you of walting because you're too young? If you have a US SOCOM type load out, surely people don't think you're trying to pass yourself off as their nations finest if you're from Dudley??!! but what if its Brit and you could be in the right age bracket? I've seen a guy who had recreated an almost exact replica of a 3 Para MG gunner from Afghan, it was awsome! but he wasn't trying to pass himself off as something he wasn't, it was, in his own way, his tribute to our armed forces, after all, imitation is the most sincere form of flattery. I say where what you like, its all about the context, if you're wearing it because its cool or because you want to recreate that exact look, fine, but if you're trying to make out you're second man on the balcony, then NO!!! To give my comments a little context, I served for 23 years.
  18. A political party??!! Association of National Airsoft Leagues anyone??!! Religion??!! Well I do donate most of my income to airosft??! Could I be a registered addict??!!
  19. Seriously??!!! WTF??!! That's like have paras who've never been trained to jump and just giving them a chute and expecting them to crack on?!! Insane!!!
  20. Welcome back to the fold, enjoy!!!
  21. Oh I do hope and pray that not only does some do gooding politically correct nutter who thinks airsoft is evil gets in to power, but more importantly i hope they don't get in to a position to be a minority in a coalition government and be king maker and make airsoft one of their pet projects the big boys let em have as a sop to keep them quiet! Remember how big a lobby the countryside alliance is and look how far they got?! I would agree with all that there is a perception in the UK that all guns are bad and all who like em are nutter, but if you talk to people about airsoft and show them what we do and what we use, they're generally very interested. Have any clubs or groups done any out reach like that? Perhaps at Uni? Having spent 23 years in the military and now 6 years in the diplomatic service, I know when the "good idea fairy" turns up with another load of b*ll*cks!! and right on cue come the Greens!! PT, thank you for your service my friend, only met your strange breed very briefly during my time, but was always thoroughly impressed with those who'd earned the Dolphins, always wanted to do the SETT course myself, just for shizzles, had some friends in my old dive club, who blagged a dive there! I think that's far enough off topic now.......
  22. Nothing wrong at all mate, its airsoft, people dress as or with whatever they chose. You're not passing yourself off as someone fro a military unit that used the punisher logo, so what's the problem?
  23. Seriously tempted to buy one and a wrist cover in multicam!!! Yes! I know! ?? I'm a slave to MTP and airsoft!!!
  24. As always Mack, looking the dogs nads!!! Gleaming mate!
