Been working on my SRC AKS-74U GBBR, added a real steel Vector Rail, PTS AFG and Noveske Soundhog, all sourced from Dedsec on here. Plus a reflex type holo sight I already had.

Fitting the rail was not straightforward as it is a fraction longer than the original handguards and also needed a new narrower gas tube fabricating from various pieces of brass tube, this was a pain to get right but still be large enough to allow the gas piston to move freely inside. Moving the Front sight/gas block forward about 7mm on the barrel solved the length issue thankfully. After all the work it works fine and I'm really pleased with the outcome.

So apologies to those who like their AK's to have wood furniture, but my 2 AEG's do have wood furniture if that helps lol!

Liquid blanco in Natural webbing colour. Yay more blancoing!
Having received for Xmas a 2nd set of P37 webbing, I can now start tailoring a set to my Aussie impression. For a British impression the webbing has to be blancoed to make it green in different shades according to the period. It took me a while but I eventually discovered that the correct colour for Aussie webbing is no blanco at all. Apparently the Aussies never saw the point of all that extra work, just as they used tan boots so they didn't have to keep them shiny.
So I have washed one set of webbing and scrubbed as much blanco out as possible. Now to hide the residual green and make it look unblancoed, I am going to have to blanco it. Can anyone else see the irony?
I have incidentally recently dyed my Aussie uniform to green which would have matched the colour of my webbing and now my webbing will go back to a khaki colour which would have matched the original colour of my uniform. It will however look awesome
The next planned webbing alterations are to get 2 more ammo pouches and sew them to the sides of the large pack, a trick common to both the Aussies and Chindits. Then I shall obtain a 5x 30 round Thompson magazine pouch and alter it to fit P37 webbing instead of the left ammo pouch. This will make an Aussie Owen gun mag pouch.

Any other comments: Had a few questions about the AFG2 and Noveske Soundhog which he offered, he measured stuff up, nothing was too much trouble, and a nice guy to have a conversation with about real steel shooting as well as airsoft. Many thanks man!

The last email I got from the Dytac rep showed a QD type V2 gearbox. This is in their latest Sportline AEG, I'm guessing they use this in all their AEG's but I could be wrong. They do a great line of quality products, I was very tempted to start selling them here in the UK but they just weren't cheap enough when compared to the competition out there currently.

The weather! Ambient temp can be a bugger and needs to be factored in, mine can run hot in the summer and barely function in the winter. So in the summer have an NPAS fitted so you can turn the gas down. In the winter you have to carefully manage your gas type, (I find propane the most powerful) minimising cool down (don't degas your mags quickly or do lots of full auto) and trying to keep you mags warm.
Apart from that its the realism I love! It's gas all the way baby!

Like last time, dealt with Straff before and once again, can't doubt. Quick payment and really pleasant to talk to. No problems and didn't try to haggle prices even when offered.

    Thanks mate!

Try another site next time maybe? And learn to be stealthy. Once you start hitting the guys with expensive guns you'll feel better about it, just don't let idiots spoil it. As for non hit takers, if you are 100% sure you're hitting them then have a quiet word with the marshalls, don't get into a slanging match.

just popped in coz on hol is US atm - life's a 8itch I know

Blimey - TWA is Croydon Surrey not Twickenham.

Alas there are one or two of younger players there who have a tendency not to take hits straight away
My local site and it can get frustrating to the more serious players I know.
It is on my doorstep and I tend not to take it too seriously - but I do like to think I take hits - think coz it means f*ck all to me in mega serious terms
(I know I am crap so I often call it even if unsure where as others tend to ignore a "possible" or "was that a bb ?" tap on them)

Usually if somebody reports non-hits then marshalls Pete,John, Simon & Sam will test out their GBB pistols on them quite regularly

But there is perhaps 1 or 2 that may not play fairly as others I will admit - f*cking shame coz it can ruin it for others and think that some
of the more serious or skilled players have maybe gone to the more serious sites like Sandpitt or Mall etc...

Really sorry there was more to$$ers than usual, normally it ain't mega mega bad non-hit takers but you always get 1 or 2 in many places I think

It is a cheap & cheerful site - but I must admit the DMR sounds bollox to me coz they really are so hot on safety, everything chrono's
so can't work out why they woulkd of let somebody use higher fps with easy auto option & not locked to semi - that really amazes me
They say you gotta know wtf MED is all about before they will allow you to use it
And have seen first hand them kick peeps off for the slightest bending of safety guidelines

Well none of that crap yesterday was me coz was over in Orlando - ahh well
seriously - I'm sorry you didn't have a great game at my local and it was a bit of a w@nk
perhaps try other sites if the cheap & cheerful TWA is not for you

Next time if anybody gives me & son a shout then I can try & ensure I'm on enemy team and will be the perfect hit taking twat for you to shoot at

Happy New Year anyway - shoot ya later

Oh i dunno, i've put my 1/2 face on top of my head to have a fag in game before - long games with long walks to regen, that kind of thing, but also whilst just giving myself time to recover from running while at regen i've been known to spark up. In theory it's not allowed at Skirmish, because it's woodland... and pyro's are less likely to cause fires? My hole. So i do it anyway.

Featherbed Ln? Yes this is sadly the norm for this site. Thought it was just me being the odd one out, seriously considered quitting airsoft last time I attended and I didn't even get to play mate - the atmosphere of snobbery and wierd seriously made me question what I was doing lol.

Had no idea you were so close, try UCAP's sandpit near blue water mate.

What exactly do you mean by "Massive weirdo", To be honest it sounds like you're being a bit judgmental.
People that don't take hits are always annoying I agree...

Lets be honest grown men shooting each other with toy guns isnt exactly the social norm, but its fun so who cares.
So what if everyone isnt a super spec op killing machine, tagging every one just because they have expensive guns. it doesnt matter it just for fun.

One I've been working on for a while, early 'nam Colt CAR-15 Carbine mod 610, started out as a JG M733, since fitted with a G&P early M16 receiver (no mag fence or bolt forward assist), cut down barrel (10") and bayonnet lug removed. Needs a flat delta ring and early Nam pistol grip to finish when I get hold of them.

It's because its below the proof required to be classed as a bourbon (40%). Also, the lack of colour supposedly suggests a lack of whiskey, or a young whiskey. I think it's more of a young whiskey rather than a lack of it, but I reckon it tastes nice whatever it is! BTW, with Dr pepper it is lovely. You'd struggle to tell there was any alcohol in it at all mate

I think its only classed as a liqueur as its infused with maple flavour as opposed to the flavour coming from the cask, so technically it can't be classed as a bourbon, but effectively thats what it is. Jim Beam also do cherry and an apricot flavoured liqueur versions too. Bloody nice stuff though!
