  1. Hi Crashtest

In answer to your question the hobby is a very social hub in my experience. In the two years I have been into Airsoft the community & circle of people I have met (and now regularly contact) has literally changed my life.

I now speak to more people who I have met through Airsoft than the mates I have had most of my adult life. I often get whatsapp messages by drunken fellow airsofters on the Friday night before the next days skirmish just to say hi & ask me what I'm up to. As a matter of fact the community is one of my favourite parts of the hobby.

Fitness wise its not up there with my other hobby (mountain biking) but then again what is? If you are looking for a load of grown ups that are old enough to know better dicking about with toys guns & having a laugh, look no further. If you are looking for a serious sport where winning is everything you've taken a wrong turn at Tesco's.

I'm similar to you mate, I do have a good level of fitness, I used to box in my youth but nowadays hate violence of any kind. Airsoft isn't like I thought it was going to be at all. My image was of loads of ex military guys who were still in the mindset and the sport being highly competitive, what I met was a load of guys having a day away from their wives while playing silly buggers in the woods, I've never looked back mate.

If you don't take yourself too seriously then come aboard mate, welcome to a future doing tactical clearances of your bedrooms in your socks, pretending your new gun is the one you have had for ages & eyeing up kit you don't have any use for but you still want it anyway. Leave you bank card at the door because its going to get abused for a while :)

  2. I take 5 mid caps & 1 high cap just in case it gets messy.

I personally prefer mid-caps simply because I enjoy reloading under fire, its all about fun at the end of the day & if you enjoy doing your hardcore reload then go for the mid-caps.

there is never a right or wrong, just what you perfer

  3. As a proper answer to the OP:

I don't actually go there myself but I do go to Matlock & most people who go there are also regulars at the Gaol. So please take this as the best I can offer. Basically I have never heard a bad word said about the site & often get invited along with the words "You'd love it mate".

I know Justin who runs it is a top bloke and I can vouch for most of the regulars who are also great guys, apart from that; I don't have anything other than to recommend the site on here say only. But it is good solid here say

Its not a full endorsement but its the best help I can offer.

  4. Lol I went to Platoon stores on Rochester and went a bit crazy my bill came to £480 for my kit then my dad started picking up stuff by the time we had finished it was up to £780 lol.

christ I've been playing Airsoft for two years & my kit is worth less than half of that lol

All my stuff is 2nd hand or from a surplus shop.

  5. Although I have got used to Matlock I am still a sod for wondering off in the wrong direction. I call it Recon surprise tactics.

I'm not joking, getting lost has in some cases got me in great positions to outflank people, I once ended up catching 6 guys off guard & while they were busy shouting "Blue....Were all Blue" and healing each other I just carried on shooting them & ducking back into cover. I had a blast !!!!

  6. I thought everyone knew? It's noted enough times on treads. But one point to make is that if you can get the same gun from your local site for not much more money is it not worth getting it from them? If they make a little profit surly it's a good thing for the "sport"

I don't really live on forums so I must have missed these threads.

Your point about guns doesn't apply to me as my loadout has been complete for a while and its bang on for me so no intention of changing it. I'm more looking at choice of kit for a good price.

  7. Oh nice. I'll look out for you if you're going on Saturday. I'll be on a 650cc Suzuki Bandit. I'll be sure to introduce myself. Thanks for the welcome!!

Really, thanks for all your info guys. Very welcoming of you all!!

Will look out for you mate.

I'll be more than likely wearing a filthy black beanie cap and being old about the place lol. Just look out for two young lads who will be with me one in British DPM and the other in black from head to foot. they are little short arse kids, one of them is my offspring who everyone calls Ewok.

I'm usually hanging around the car fixing the kids stuff or near the shed in the corner of the safe zone giving & receiving abuse from John/Hodor the shop owner.
