  1. Manufacturing a RIF is also illegal unless you have a specific defence - it's down to whether anyone who would report it would be aware of it and whether the law would spend time on it - there have been a few occasions where they have - but problably more because the people in question had been d*cks in public.
  2. Airsoft Armouries £99.99. Was there last one - not sure how quickly ASG are pumping them out as AA are an official ASG importer and they had to wait about 4 weeks between the first and second order, so it's anyone's guess when they get more, or for me, more gas mags in (they have CO2) -- Edited to add linky
  3. GHK G5 is probably the cheapest way in if you're buying new and a simple gun to maintain (I know as even I can manage), however the present semi-cult status means second hand prices are also high. Also it works straight out of the box. As to propane - you'll be using a lot more gas (though don't over gas your mags) so propane does work out a lot cheaper, but then you must be religious on your cleaning post skirmish as it does not contain the silicon oil you need to maintain the seals in your mags, plus propane contains some crud that the airsoft gasses do not. For AKs GHK have a very good reputation, but not for the AEG to GBBR conversion kit. If you're happy to go SMG rather than GBBR then there's a good few out there that seem to get good feedback reviews - KWA MP9, TM MP7, ... - these are cheaper, the mags carry more amo (about 50 rounds in general compared to the 30-40 in GBBRs (45 in an AK) and are possibly more forgiving. Also many of them tend to be sub 350 fps without any mods, unlike a lot of the GBBRs (GHK G5 comes in at about 330 fps on 0.20g pellets with green gas/propane).
  4. You'll find that even with CQB you're better off with a carbine or SMG than a pistol. Best do rentals at the sites you go for and see how it goes. As for other sites, there's Red1 at Hunton Bridge near Watford (I as there today), xSite Outpost near Dunstatable/Tring, xSite Lands End near High Wycombe (not been to that one myself yet).
  5. GBBR is very satisfying, though can also be a little frustrating if you're in a scenario where there's a big advantage to spray and pray. Don't regret buying my G5 one second.
  6. JT used to be the Paintball goggles back in the 80s until Oakley started a big push over here. Another +1 here for ASG Blaster. Also don;t worry about the loading funnel - simply make a circle with your finger and thumb and put over the hole in the high cap then pour slowly - no problems once you're used to it.
  7. I'm only 46 (and a few weeks) so far from the oldest here (just wish my hamstring would remember I'm not that old ...)
  8. A number I could not answer, such as favourite rifle - could have done with an 'other' option.
  9. I can actually vaguely remember his appearance on Happy Days. Not sure if it was 1978 as back then we'd see US sitcoms 1-2 seasons after they'd been broadcast over the Atlantic, not 1-2 episodes. He was, as others have and will say, incredibly versatile and a comic genius, especially with the improv. I can still remember the stir he created with Dead Poet Society as he was playing (extremely well) a straight role (could have sworn Seize the Day was not a comedy either). For me Good Morning Vietnam is still his best work - much of it done with out a script, though Good Will Hunting is another on a must see list for him.
  10. Been playing since Closed Beta (so not as long as GiantKiwi). Tend to be on most weekends, but not necessarily for long.
  11. I must admit that with there being such significance to this and the next 4 years that I've been tempted to get together a WW I uniform and webbing set and rifle (though I suspect it'd have to be a WWII Lee Enfield)
  12. Seem to remember the cover has Eddie in a Spitfire cockpit (should add that as far as the movie is concerned - yes you're correct)
  13. Assuming it the same on all , based on my Tavor, you'll need a large flat screw driver to remove the covering bolt at the back, which will then show a hex key plate. This you push in and rotate until the pegs on either side align with the holes (you'll understand what I mean when you see it) so that it will be pushed out by the spring. Once this plug is removed the spring just needs pulling out. Put new one in and reverse process. Note the spring might be a bitch to pull out - if it is, re-compress and try again (happened to me, not sure what it caught on)
  14. Head wrap/bandana such as this one http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B009S9B1WA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Forgot to put in on this Sunday and got sweat running down after about 20 minutes. After that remembered to put it on (and make sure all my hair was tucked in at the front) - didn't have a problem again.
  15. I might have to get close to try and watch from outside. Only thing that worries me about these replicas is they are built like the originals - one pilot was killed earlier this year/late last year when his replica fell out of the sky.
  16. Yup that's the jobbie. I'm still considering what sling to get myself I'm afraid - not had mine long and so far only back garden plinked as my locals aren't sniper suitable.
  17. Unless you get an adapter there is just one type of bipod you can use, however it can be placed in multiple positions. Here's a shot inside the magwell looking towards the trigger. The screw driver is against a bar that goes across the gun so you can see the grey/silver in the middle and on the right - you push that in (it moves in that direction only).
  18. How old is it ? The 2nd generation came with the gearbox unlock switch installed. Doesn't stop lock up (which is apparently caused by batteries getting low) but does allow you to unlock 'in the field' (removing mag, pushing down on the plate with a thin screw driver and pulling the trigger - causes the gun to go full auto, unlocking the gear box in the process). I've been toying with a bipod - the proper ones (which can be got for as cheap as about £40 for a Chinese clone) can be fitted at the front of the lower receiver (just before the wood grip starts) or in one of the sets of lower holes in the hand grip (maybe just the set at the barrel end).
  19. They posted on Facebook that they have a load of G&G stuff back in stock today/yesterday.
  20. The two retailers who seem to get the best reviews (I've used both) are Landwarrior and Proairsoftsupplies, but there are a lot of others that mainly get great feedback - as others have said it's only if you have a problem that some can seem bad. Both the above two have a great reputation with trying to help and sort out issues.
  21. What Mack was intimating is that there is no such thing as a UKARA licence. It is just a scheme run by a number of retailers and subscribed to by most where they keep a database of active airsoft players. All that happens after you qualify (3 games at the same site in a period of more than 2 months but under a year) is that you are registered on the database and given a reference number that you use when purchasing RIFs.
  22. I had an issue with Hobby King - bought a couple of LIPOs for one of my guns based on their published dimensions. Turns out in reality the batteries were larger than they said (and as a result too large to fit in the gun). As far as they were concerned they could only take them back as unwanted (I would have to pay postage (and find some one to deliver LIPOs) and that LIPO sizing varied and I should have been aware of that ....
  23. I got mine about 4 months ago - again legit - you can tell by the shot memory function (apparently the clones do not have this).
  24. Was going to mention my G5 as well - love it, but if you're at a place where everyone is spamming high caps you do feel some what out gunned.
