Very curious to see how the P90 mags work with the M60. And how it looks in the end.

How much space is on an L85's front rails?
    THIS MUCH

(Not shown - flash light and grip-pod on left hand side)

Year old photo, about a week after I fitted the RIS to the L85. It was my first ever rail system on a rifle. Used once, never again.

Having learned of Ed's hatred of non real styled guns during the NAE I'd like everybody to post up their guns which have absolutely no bearing on real life styles, I'll start:

first off a "Quite literally" M4 pistol Ed and I believe Ian had a look at it at the NAE, and hopefully it'll be finished by the end of the month with the Judge loadout.

Second off, an M60 modified (still in early phases) to work with P90 mags as the box mags reliability was laughable and I hated having to carry the gun so far away from my chest.

Hi all, thanks for inviting me on your forum....

    A bit about me..

I am a regular player to Airsoft in my SAS all blacks load out wearing my S10 Gas Mask. I've been wearing one for years now. Not with the standard lens that they are supplied with as they do shatter. I use a 2mm clear polycarbonate lens which I cut myself and have tested them many many times with different guns.

A friend if mine "Greataardvark" uploaded a test of the lenses and standard ones on YouTube to show you the difference.

I opened up the S10 filter and removed all the interior and before closing it up washed it thoroughly first. I remove both internal valves to make breathing normal in the mask and wash and talc the inside after every use.

My lenses don't fog as my breathing is normal and all though your face sweats like a pig, I never really feel those bbs hitting it, be it on the rubber or filter or lenses. I wear an M88 rep. helmet on top of this and flame resistant genuine SAS coverall. I have a sweat wicking, similar to lycra suit underneath this to help keep me cool and a fully equipped black vest on the top. Hydration unit on back which i can fit the straw under my S10. SIG P226 E2 on my thigh and MP5K in my hands with silencer, laser for sights and tactical torch.

I last wore this at Anzio a few week ago when it was REALLY HOT, and I was perfectly fine.

Yes I used to sell them on eBay but had problems with someone basically copy and pasting word for word my advert. After moaning to eBay, they removed his listing only for him to add one word and relist for half my amount and free p&p. Not worth me listing anymore so I took mine off. But yes I can still cut them and any size.

So this is my SAS CQB-style loadout so far - I'm trying to get hold of a Nomex III Assault Suit though. However I don't think I'll buy the proper assault vest because its so expensive!
Please excuse the WW2 army truck that just happened to be at my house... It does not fit with the time period at all!

The rifle is an SRC MP5A4, with two torches and a laser mounted to the bottom, and a red dot sight mounted at the top. That thing stuck to the side is for a GoPro camera.
My sidearm is the CYMA Glock18c, with a ~100 round magazine.

And I'm wearing my recently acquired "Avon 1989" S-10 Respirator!

It's a shame my FBI overt/covert-styled vest only has 5 mag pouches...
The rest all get stuffed in my suit jacket & trouser pockets

It's very accurate from what I've heard, but APS don't have great QC and it varies a bit.

Gearbox is solid and well assembled, but the steel sector chip eats tappet plates over the long term

Also has a major feeding problem on some models, resulting in worse accuracy, may have been fixed in newer models

trigger course is rather long but response is good.

    selector switch is rather uncomfortable.

But overall, great bang for buck and a surprisingly good rifle.

I'd take it over a ASG/JG AUG any day.

Been doing some research for my dissertation - most of it pretty boring, all of it tedious. Some of it was a real eye opener. I was going over the Ministry of Defence's accounts for the past 15 years, in particular 2010-2011 and 2012-13, and sweet Zombie Jesus, the accountants are clearly retarded. In making budget cuts to save money, the MoD has spent more than it would have saved.

For example - the Harrier fleet. It was cut back in 2010-11 (rather than 2016), to save £21 million.
We sold the fleet to the USMC, for £16million (so already, we're at a loss). Except - we didn't "sell" them. Before the Yanks would buy our planes, we have to retrofit and upgrade them - and then post them over. At a cost of £1.29 billion.
This completely ignores the fact that the Harrier's replacement - the F-35 Super Turkey is 4 years behind schedule, still not out of testing, and now costs £27 million per unit (instead of the original planned £9.6 mil/unit). Radar, avionics, gun and weapons not included. We were supposed to be getting 140 for the FAA and about 80 for the RAF. Now we'll be lucky if we can afford 60 for both FAA & RAF.

Jesus, this really is all ridiculous, and just the tip of the iceberg. It's really pissing me off because people are getting paid to do this. And getting away with it.

    Edit - whoops, I got the Super-Turkey's price wrong. It's not £27mil/ unit. It's £127 mil/unit. Value for money

Going for the second line look?
Pretty much what my cousin's unit were using last November, only they didn't have the flashhider at that point.

I've been messing around with my L85, trying to optimise it for CQB games. It's not exactly what you'd call... "traditional"...

Thing is, both set ups works brilliantly (and if they winds up traditionalists, all the better ). All I need now are some backup/folding iron sights. I do admit that the current flashlight is awful though, so next time Firesupport have the replica LLM01 in, I'll try to get one.

Picked it up and squeezed the trigger.... thup, goes off without a hitch. TM mags are gastight for at least 9 months outdoors it appears.

No, it's just a trick of the light, not quite sure why it came out like that. Although WE's GBB has a green trigger, for some incredibly strange reason.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a traditionalist at heart, it's just a case of using what's a hand, and trying to make it work. Learnt the hard way that SUSATs/ACOGs and CQB rarely go well together.
I like how it looks now, but I think it'll look a lot better when I find some folding iron-sights and bolt them on. (Thinking of SCAR or Tavor sights).

I tried the L22, but I just don't like it - which is a shame, as I think they look awesome. The battery set-up is a monumental PITA, so until that gets sorted (or a GBB comes out), I'll be sticking to my L85 and Carbine.

So I was fiddling around with my guns today; decided to mix my sights around a bit, I've been having some issues with my new ACOG so I thought I'd try and sort them out, just general tinkering type stuff.

But then, I thought, what would an Afghan spec L85 look like, with the irons sights mounted on it?

    Well, it looks like this:

I think it's pretty darn cool tbh, I also found it impossibly satisfying that the iron sights are actually SPOT ON, pin point perfect for engaging targets out to around 50m. Tempted to actually skirmish it like this for a few games.

Only thing stopping me is that it seems pointless having gone to the trouble of buying expensive optics and sighting them in properly only to not use them... Might field it like this for CQB where there's a risk of my optics breaking.

I don't usually like to engage in an argument or discussion such as this but given I've had two people paint me as 'doing it wrong', here I go.

I had the sight before I started airsoft. I'd need a fairly fucking good reason not to use it – the fact that I use high caps isn't one of them. Both comments are fairly silly things to say, if you had the sight or had the money to buy the sight (and it was indeed what you wanted) then why not use it? Using a red dot does not make me any less or more accurate that it would if I used my iron sights only. Also red dots are used primarily for faster targeting anyway.

The reason I use high caps is because it simply means less magazines – you also make the assumption that lowcaps = realism = better. This whole sport is subjective and I don't see any pros or logic in your last sentence. Are you sure you are not being elitist or at least tieing 'high end gear' with people who want the full challenge of realism?

I'm thinking about possibly getting one of these (or their P229), so I'd be very interested to hear your opinions on how it is.

Picked up a Madbull 510mm 6.01mm tightbore, systema rubber and nub and some other parts. Hopefully I'll get my L85 shooting more that 6 metres...

Well, new pistol came yesterday, and new paints came today. So as I started to sand down the slide, I noticed how fucking awesome it made the gun look. Half tempted to just keep it like this.

    Edit:
Repainted it all now, I think the worn look was nice. But the black/gray two tone is better.

Interesting technique for polishing it, I'll keep that in mind the next time I try polishing something.

As for the wood - you could try painting it a light colour (something off-white, like buff titanium), then using a very dark wood varnish to give it a wooden colour. Although it'd probably be best to practice it on something non-important first.

    Thanks guys

To polish the ejection port cover I raided my wife's nail stuff! She has these cuboid nail files with four different surfaces on them. File, buff, smooth and shine. They work great for all sorts of stuff!

I think I am going to repaint the grips before I varnish them. I want them a bit lighter I think. I just painted those with back, dark umber, and crimson acrylic paints. A coat of burnt umber or even an ochre should do the job

Very nicely done ARN, what technique did you use to polish it up? Nice job on the wood effect as well, should look lovely when varnished.
And IRRC, that part is called the chamber - at least, that's what its called by SIG anyway.

Another boring, slightly blurred, hand gun pic!

I'm still bored so I have just painted the grips to get a wood effect. Pleased with it so far but I need to get some kind of varnish to make them look like nice shiny wood! I also polished that shiny thing in the middle. I don't even know what it's called I'm such a noob

EDIT: I might polish up the trigger one day too to give it a bit of a custom look.

Got back from holiday and got massive cravings to reboot my PC gaming (or my excuse for PC gaming) and decided to test-run a couple of MMOs.

Picked this one up last night and so far pretty impressed.

The tech-tree is nice and the free-to-play is really good, seems I won't need to chuck a penny at it which is sweet.

Gameplay wise, little disappointed. I suck hairy sweaty donkey balls, literally my first game I rolled straight up a street and got slaughtered. I'm improving though, still annoyed that the only tank with which I succeed is French and I'm not even trying to surrender...
