  1. Question for the community, I'm toying with the idea of pimping the stock, I'm looking at Magpul and IMI Defense, but I don't know whether they're actually compatible.
If anyone has any suggestions for body parts specifically intended for the VFC HK 416D 3rd gen, I'm a taker.

P.S. *IMPORTANT* I'm looking exclusively for the stock in OD, not tan, not black, not cerakote

P.P.S. And no, I don't want to paint.

  2. Used the 416 for three games now. First time with GBBR, gas got colder as I played outside, muzzle velocity went from 349 fps to 140... Second time, warmed my mags against my body with a complex rotation system and used red gas, still quite underwhelming. Third time, used green gas but hand warmers in mag pouches, gleaming range but couldn't see fall of shot.

Now I have a scope. Will do a bit of zeroing and hop-up fine tuning next game.

I miss the days of people doing impressions and even the most casual player dressing semi like a soldier...

As always though, your opening comment says you're newish to Airsoft. Unless you've done a good 5+ games I'd advise holding off until you do.

I did namsoft back in the days but on the MACV-SOG/LRRP side of things. I even had a functional PRC-25/77. My current setup isn't a 'period' one. It's meant to be functional and a tribute to the heyday of my old unit.

I'm sort of new. I'm coming back to Airsoft after a 15 year hiatus. But I used to play on a monthly basis from 1999 to 2004. I did one big milsim weekender in 2008 and I'm back since Oct last year. Only 4 games so far.

  4. Thank you all for your wealth of experience and knowledge. I have enough information to make the choice that will suit my gameplay.

Just to answer, and narrow down the range of, a few concerns

I'm all up for comfort, but 13 years in two armies, including stints in Helmand, the Balkans, Kenya, Norway etc. have taught me to support way worse when it comes to sweating under a heavy helmet.

     - The why ? Purely fashion. I'm not after protection, I don't need it. I will however get accessories on it, including headset, I plan on getting NVDs, probably a strobe and/or counterweight.

    *EDIT*

P.S. Oh and I'm a medium size, I will however avoid one sized options.

  5. Hello, being new-ish to the game, I'm looking for a FAST type helmet, preferably good quality (looking as close as possible to the real deal), no accessories other than rails and padding. Solid, especially the straps.

If you have any pointers (with links and pics), I'd be most grateful.

    *EDIT* Punctuation

Thanks to @Mini airsoft for the deal on the bits 👍

Changed the front end and the stock from the classic polymers, now I’m torn 😩

I do like the pic hand rail, undecided decided on the stock, it might live in a box on the shelf

I like everything about this save one change : the stock. The SIG stock is so iconic, and beautifully designed.

My VFC 416A5 came with a factory fitted NPAS, adjusting it involves taking the bolt out and using a small allen key down the nozzle to adjust it. It's quite a simple process due to how easy and quickly an AR style rifle can be broken down.

It's the only upgrade I can think of for my 416D. I don't understand why VFC did away with it in that version... Any suggestions on that other than RA-Tech ?

Keep your mags as close to you body to keep them as warm as possible.

Make sure you have a hop rubber soft enough for dealing with the cold.

To be fair, this weekend looks unseasonably warm, forecast for 11 deg here on Sunday 🤞

    This.

    Rotate your mags.

One loaded in the RIF, one in a pocket close to your body (no insulating layer between). Upon changing your mag, get the warm one on the RIF, get one from your ammunition pouches to your body.

    And so on, so forth.

  9. I started, and stopped, playing airsoft in the early 2000s in France. I have only started playing again recently in the UK where I have been living for more than 12 years now.
I am trying to get my old teammates over the Channel for a couple of games, they are legitimately concerned with the legal hassle with getting their RIFs through the border.
Has anyone got any experience over these matters ?
Are airports to be avoided ?
Will they need proof of purchase/ownership of their RIFs ?
