Almost my biggest fear of playing airsoft! I wear a Delta Mike just because it's more breathable and doesn't cause condensation on the mouth protection like most other metal mesh mouth protection does. It still hurts getting shot in the cheek/side of the face though!

I can confirm that getting your teeth damaged is a massive inconvenience for sure.  In my case it wasn't painful luckily, though Dan's sounds like it was much worse.

We had two teenage rental players without their masks on at all at one point on Sunday, needless to say everyone 'encouraged' them to put their gear back on ASAP..

  2. I'd been a bit disenchanted the last couple of times I went to my usual site, lots of moaning players which pulls the mood down and then I got one of my front teeth busted on a battlesim day which sucked.  Wear a mask people!

Anyway I'm pleased to report that yesterday was hugely enjoyable despite my team getting roughly handled throughout the day.  We had quite a lot of timid players and no Major Pushup to encourage them!

I took my new (I know) Specna Core M249 and was pleasantly surprised by it.  I was able to suppress the other team pretty consistently though quite a lot of the time I was doing it so I could move as opposed to my team mates moving.  It does lack enough range to compete with some of the better weapons on the field though which made advancing a little tricky at times.  I wasn't quite prepared for the different weight distribution though, it got to be pretty hard work advancing with it shouldered.  More time in the gym required

Highlights include a classic YouTube "M249 SAW Destroys Enemy Team" style victory on defence against a crew of five or six that just couldn't move once I'd pinned them and I whittled them down one-by-one after that, I was then promptly shot obviously since I was loudly shouting for support that never came!  I got a bush-wookie out from under a bush, my first sniper taken out too.  In another first I crossed a path and started laying down fire from the safety of some ferns until the ferns stabbed me...  I came back as quickly as I could and asked repeatedly if the sniper in the ferns was gone to a chorus of yeses even when I shot the bush to indicate here he was.  I advanced back to where I was and the ferns shot me with a pistol...  :D

So despite being on the losing side all day I had a great day with some superb moments, no grumbling about hit taking or cheating this weekend which was good and a nice feeling of sportsmanship endured

  3. Hi gang,

Just wondering what this would be worth if I decide to move on from it?

    It's had a couple of minor adjustments;
    M100 spring
Maple Leaf 60 Hop Bucking and Omega Nub
    ZCI Stainless 6.02mm inner barrel

Would come with 7.4v lipo's, magazines, scout light, LCT side rail and a Theta Optics Red-Dot

I'll put the current joules / FPS up on the listing if I do decide to part company with her.

    Cheers

  4. Went out today, taking the tri-shot with me as I'd not really got prepared to run the aeg...

Thoroughly enjoyed myself all day and I'm happy to report that the shotgun was only let down by my weary biceps by the end of the day.

Being up front meant playing the objectives which is what I prefer so played with a grin all day.

Not so much grumbly behaviour and hit taking seemed good (though I "missed" a bloke from a yard away somehow so not sure there...) so a good day all around.

Absolutely stiff as a board now though!  Gotta do some cardio inbetween games!

  5. Went to Combat Airsoft on Sunday as planned even though the battle-sim was cancelled due to not enough people booking so that was a bit disappointing.  This was my fourth or fifth visit and it was good fun but complaints and arguments regarding hit-taking broke out within minutes of the first game starting and for the first time I noticed a bit of general "shirtyness" presumably not helped by the warm weather.  Moaning continued about the enemy team not taking hits and having over-powered weapons until in the afternoon the Marshalls had enough and basically put us all on the naughty step with a final "if I see you not taking your hits you will leave the site" warning.  Now I personally couldn't verify that I did hit anyone that didn't take it and didn't receive any hits that left unusually large welts (I did catch one in the ribs under my right arm that's a bit of a corker and stung like hell) but the general feeling I was left with was one of meh about it all.  I think because I don't really enjoy being told off for things I didn't do despite being a grown man of 40+ and the attitude was less positive than usual.

Anyway, I guess they can't all be great days out.  On the plus side the AKM performed pretty well, it'd be nice if the trigger response was a little sharper but I suspect my reaction time is too slow to make much difference there :D

  6. Just having a beer after a good day's play at Combat Airsoft Thetford which was really busy.  Nice big play fields meant that it didn't feel too congested.  My first time using my own rifle so that felt good, she's a big heavy lump though.  Gives the old wrists a workout I guess.

My new gloves had to come off because I couldn't wind the magazines with them and I need to figure out shoulder transitions with the sling but I worked around it in the tighter areas OK.

Highlights;  a hilarious "assault" on our position to retrieve the objective.  We're dug in, probably fifteen of us.  Smoke goes in from the enemy and only three dudes attack and get absolutely hosed with bb's.  Poor souls  :D

Tried out being a bit sneakier and working with one of our teams bolt action guys to hold down a flank to great success.  Normally i charge about a lot more so it was interesting to see how tense the sniping type game is

Trying to be a bit steadier in general instead of just racing about was good too, I think helped by the extra range and accuracy.  Still had a couple of suicide charges though, including one where I got the last defender but he got me too so I couldn't claim the objective!

Gonna go back in a few weeks for their battle-sim event and try being out all day non-stop, sounds a bit intimidating but if you don't try you never know eh!

Nice, I have just ordered a cyma tri-shot myself as a backup gun.

My first cyma shotty still going strong year's later.

Good to hear they're pretty robust. I just tried it out and it's so much fun 😀

I couldn't get my chronograph to do anything sensible though, is there a trick to dealing with tri-shots and chrono?

  8. Kinda depends where you live though eh?  Maybe i'm unlucky but I tried to map using the bus here;

The earliest bus out of my village on a Saturday morning in the direction of the site leaves at 08:44 which is the arrival time at site and the nearest connecting bus stop from there is as far as I can tell and hour and half of walking, some of which is on a dual carriageway so not ideal for walking...  It's only a three hour walk from my house.
Now I could play at a different site which would mean getting on the earliest bus the other direction (6:41) and then connecting to get to within walking distance of the site arriving at the bus-stop at 10:47 with a half hour walk still.  Pretty sure either way I've missed the safety briefing and maybe even start of play either way.

So for me personally it's just not an option to use public transport, good on ya if it is but it might not be for the OP either.

Great to hear it.  1J is fine for woodland, it's more about consistency than theoretical maximum range.

And yes, teching can be fun just on its own merits.  Although it's always best to have a backup gun to hand before you open a gearbox, in case you find yourself with parts missing or "spare" afterwards. ;)

Yeah, going to grab a cyma spring shotgun as a back-up for when I cause my own problems or the AK goes down.

  10. Hi all, I just tested it with the M105 spring (AK2M4 is super fast, thanks for the recommendation @Nick G) with 0.25's and it's firing pretty consistently at just under 300 FPS / 1J.  I don't really have the space to test it for range and accuracy but at least she's legal for the field I go to now!  Everything else I've left as factory barring giving the barrel a clean.  Quite enjoyed the deconstruction / construction so I dare say I'll be back with more questions after I've given her a proper run.

    Cheers for the help folks

Play a couple of games and see how it goes. As others have said the hop rubber and barrel can make a difference- although cleaning the barrel with the unjamming rod and alcohol soaked rag is a good shout as there is usually gunk in it from the factory 😳

Yeah, I'll give it a clean tonight when I put it all together.  I'd been really impressed with it in the garden but that might in part have been the high FPS.  All part of the fun of owning your own I suppose.

  12. Just got finished taking it to bits, realised half way through that was entirely unnecessary, two screws, tilt the gearbox up and you can access the QC spring port...

Ho hum.  Still, makes me more confident about stripping it down in the future.

Whilst she's in bits is it worth doing anything else or I guess sensibly I should make one change at a time and see what works?

  13. Hello gang, hopefully you can help.  Basically my LCT AKM failed it's chrono on site today which was super frustrating because it's still pretty new.  This was the first time it had been tested though.

It scored between 356 and 368 on a 0.25 with a bit of hop applied.

I assume this is the spring being too mighty?  Or is there another potential culprit?

    Thanks in advance

The better players used to take rentals/newbies under their wing and show them a few things during the games, and that’s something I don’t see anymore at the sites.  Little stuff like waiting a bit longer for the opposition to get closer before engaging, or standing back a bit off cover to give yourself room to peek out with the weapon up was shown in the first round.  There seemed to be more team play too.

Yeah, as a new player myself I can attest to this, to the extent that my first session I felt like it was potentially not something I wanted to bother with.  Glad I stuck with it though and went off to figure out what I could do to feel less like a moving target...

Where from, how much and are they available in black or mcam?

Haha so many questions,so little time. 😉

    Regards

I'm afraid I made old Jeff a bit richer by using Amazon.  I think I was spoiled for choice due to my child sized hands, less oddly tiny appendaged folks might struggle.

Gotta get and play with all this gear I keep buying now! 😄
