  1. I recently bought the lad a second hand LCT AS Val, which is a very beautiful, rather heavy item that shoots very nicely. For myself, a second hand DBoys PDW for £35 all in.
  2. Taiwangun will not ship to any of the UK apart from NI, which is still effectively within the EU's Single Market. Shipping stuff to the rest of the UK from the EU is complicated as, for every transaction above a relatively low value, sellers are required to register with HMRC and collect tax on their behalf. Generally, it is not worthwhile for them. Another Brexit benefit!
  3. Another vote for the Maple Leaf/Omega Nub combination, although I prefer the slightly softer nub from AK2M4. 0.35g - 0.40g at 440 fps?
  4. It seems that nothing has changed; a potentially great little site run by complete idiots.
  5. If you want something that does not involve rewiring, then the GATE Merf 3.2 can provide a burst function in plug and play mode.
  6. Well played! I will be interested to know how long the JB Weld fix lasts.
  7. Respawn at AP is usually ok as they usually use a rolling respawn. Tower is small enough for it not to be an issue.
  8. The lad and I wandered over to Airsoft Plantation on Sunday although, unbeknownst to each other, neither of us really felt up for it when we set off. However, it turned out to be a cracking day; about 120 people were present and a good variety of games were played, covering most of the rather large site throughout the day; the fallback/bomber game was particularly good fun, both when played as the attackers and as the defenders. The level of play was very good overall, with only a few hit taking issues, which were dealt with very robustly by the marshals, which was good to see. It also gave me an opportunity to test the latest iteration of the hand crafted steel COL for my Ares SLR; after a few issues last time out, the very subtle modifications that I had made to its profile paid off and it ran flawlessly. It was only on the journey home that we discovered that neither of us had felt like going in the morning; however, we were both very glad that we had. The next day out will be Tower Airsoft later this month; no game for us this coming weekend as we will be walking and wild-camping on Dartmoor. Guns used: Me: Ares L1A1 Hurricane Kit/G&P SR47 DBoys AKMS Milbro Classic M1911 CO2 (It really is crap!) The lad: E&L/CYMA AK74 CYMA AKS74U ASG Commander XP18 CO2
  9. Or replace the gearbox with a non-blowback one.
  10. Charge the batteries before going to the site?
  11. That would include the chap that I met at a site the other week; I tried to explain to him that using 0.28g BBs at 340fps was not acceptable but he was not having it. Watching him try to argue it with the chrono marshal and then the site owner was amusing.
  12. Both sites are run by the same company and are only a few hundred metres apart. Tower is a relatively small former paintball site with a church, a castle, a village and a bridge area. The safezone is excellent with proper toilets and a good food van. There is also a smaller field with two old buses. Parking is good. Gameplay is usually very good, with new ideas being tried from time to time and lots of opportunities for sneaky play. At the moment, it is probably my favourite site to play at. AP is much, much larger, with a mixture of terrain ranging from quite dense woodland to scrubland, a village, an area with a plane and structures, and the "mortar pits", which is a sort of firebase with defences, pillboxes and vehicles. Some games use the entire site; others use parts of it. The larger games can be quite challenging with lots of small unit fights going on all over the site as patrols from each side encounter each other. Parking is good but the route to the very good safe zone can be a tad muddy in bad weather. Again, the safezone has a good food van and proper toilets. I have never had a bad day there.
  13. Bushings almost certainly are more durable than teeny tiny bearings, assuming that they are metal bushings rather than plastic ones! The gearbox self-dismantled using an 11.1v LiPo; I rather suspected it would, but it was fun to do it. Powering the gearbox directly to test that it functions is fine. Moly is a bit too thick for an AEP gearbox; you can thin Moly with engine oil or automatic transmission fluid.

    CA M4

You should be able to as they are both CA. If you take off the handguards, you should see something that looks like a gearwheel at the rear end; this can be unscrewed, ideally using an armourer's wrench. If you are going to change the inner barrel as well, you might need to open the gearbox and change the spring to get the power as you want it.
  15. No, the muzzle energy, measured in Joules, could be the same; the velocity would have to be below 313 FPS when using a 0.25g BB. 313 FPS on 0.25g = 1.13J 350 FPS on 0.20g = 1.13J Sites should really measure in Joules rather than quoting a velocity based on a 0.20g BB, which hardly anyone uses.
  16. I was trying to give him the benefit of the doubt. However, you are right; he is coming across as a total cunt.
  17. You are coming across as a bit of a cunt, which I suspect is not what you were hoping for.
  18. Are you old enough to remember what happened at Dunblane?
  19. The Novritsch SSE18 shoots at almost exactly the same power as a CYMA AEP. CYMA also make (or made) mosfet versions of some of their range, which are also notably snappier than the non-mosfet versions, especially when used with a small 7.4v LiPo. A stronger spring makes the pistol less snappy as it is harder for the crappy little gearbox to pull back. A mosfet does protect the trigger contacts. I don't recommend running it on even a very small 11.1V LiPo. Trust me on that one; I tried it! The battery survived; the AEP did not. My CYMA AEP shoots very straight and has surprisingly good range using 0.25g BBs; its biggest, and rather significant, disadvantage is that, at anything other than short range, I might as well be throwing daisies at people.
  20. The world will have ended before that happens.
  21. But we got are sovrinty back and can control are boarders now.
  22. Welcome to the money pit that is airsoft!
