  1. Yup that could do the trick. Try to find out what the eye relief / view box is like. The only thing with that sight is - you're adding even more RIS to a gun that's already (pun-intended) "RIS Heavy"
  2. Running a gas blowback rifle is much more akin to sniping than anything else, as you're carefully flinging single shots rather than spamming (well, most of the time anyway) For that it's important to be able to see the flight of your BB and then to be able to correct the aim for follow up shots, and for that I've found running an LPVO (typically set at ~3X magnification) is really useful. All the times I've gone back to a red dot I've missed that magnification. (I had bought a Eotech clone specifically for my 416 because it looks brilliant on it) Not the case when I'm running an AEG, where I really prefer the red dot. Edit: Having written that out, I realize a good compromise would be the Eotech paired with a Flip-To-Side magnifier! Well, that's something else to spend some dosh on)
  3. Yeah sorry mate, I think we've all got gen.2 so can't answer your specific questions! Good luck with your new gnu, I've certainly enjoyed owning mine 😃
  4. This looks like an interesting potential addition to my GBBR wishlist... I particularly liked the very nice rate of fire in full-auto which bodes well for semi-auto spam/ CQB / cold weather performance... (though of course maybe that's partly down to it firing at 400fps so it's using a more powerful gas than we'd typically use? Might require an NPAS or very low power gas to keep it in UK limits) Anyone bought one of these yet? I can't find any UK sellers, but you are a resourceful lot so maybe one of you has grabbed one already. They seem to be priced at $400-450 so at the affordable end of the scale.
  5. This is of course fantastic news - it means twice the level of Gun Acquisition Syndrome to be satiated - the family arsenal should end up being enormous! All the best for your recovery, and I hope you enjoy many skirmishes together in the future 🥂
  6. I man-handled his pew-pew (yub-yub etc) The grip (and perhaps also the weight of the Elcan) do a good job of neutralising the normal rearward weight bias of the L85, so it's ergonomic, even if the looks are, as Dan says, a bit... off? Somewhat 'inappropriate' foregrips are nothing new though, apparently...
  7. Special Ops are going to have one more skirmish (Dec 2) and will then go on hiatus as Carlos builds up his new CQB site (which he hopes to open early Feb) ... so I might well feel the need for a new site to visit. South Herts sounds like a good stop-gap Good day on Sunday... well not personally I got killed a little too often, I didn't get many clean or memorable kills, and my left knee occasionally hurts like a bastard, as I exacerbated a football injury. But it ended better than it started... the last couple of games played in twilight (and then almost total darkness) were really quite fun! Here's Dan and me before we got muddy (Quite pleased with my gun's camo paint - a video I watched recently said the most important thing was to camo the gun against your own kit. The colours might be more urban / desert than originally intended, but the overall effect still works well against my multicam)
  8. I agree totally with the shotgun and AEP opinions. M4's might be considered a bit dull and common, but they're popular for a reason, the ergonomics are just so good. Easy to fit optics. Magazines are abundant and cheap. Webbing to carry those mags is easy (army surplus etc) Typically easy to maintain. So I wouldn't rule out an M4 of some description unless you're truly against the idea. If you stay in Airsoft for any length of time you'll end up with one anyway. Thompsons are fun but I'd rule it out for being a bit too niche... With poor ergonomics, and no option to fit an optic. (Optics may not be strictly necessary - though I found mine very useful yesterday when playing in almost darkness - and they're fun to buy) AK's and MP5's are both very cool, I'd go with either of those. Just consider the logistics of your magazines when choosing... Are you going for high or mid cap? Do you prefer to carry them on a belt or chest rig? How 'authentic' do you want your loadout to be in the longer term? You don't want to end in a kit cul-de-sac that might limit you future RIF purchases
  9. I see stack up have an advert at the top or bottom of the pages here. I've enjoyed browsing the interesting and reasonably priced rifs on sale, so a bit disappointed to see the web site is saying it's closed now. Will this be the case for long?
  10. Well that was fun. A superb launch, and two RUDs for the price of one 😄 Given the launch pad looks in better nick than last time, and the ship didn't break itself during the launch (knocking out its own engines) hopefully we won't have to wait long before the next attempt
  11. I did some testing with my primary gat for Sunday's game, gave me a chance to experiment with my slingster. I haven't got a proper spare sling attachment on stock end of the gun at the moment, but I threaded it through a built-in loop on my PTS stock, and had it sitting on the outside. And then I tried the 'proper' method, and damn, yes, the gun hangs much tighter to the body (especially when it's basically vertical), it's much easier to get it tucked under the left arm to completely free up the pistol hand too... I'll definitely train myself to stick to it now. (And I'll order a QD sling attachment for my stock)
  12. I'll be doing some pre-flight checks of my own, testing for Sunday at Spec Ops. Thanks to family stuff and football injuries I've missed out on a few games recently... Looking forward to this! Looks like it'll be a tad showery in the morning but a bright afternoon (until the sun goes down at 16:07 anyway, damn the clocks going back) See you there?
  13. Update for 3 pm ET: SpaceX CEO Elon Musk says the second Starship launch is postponed to no earlier than Saturday, Nov. 18 to replace a grid fin actuator on the launch stack, according to an update Musk posted on X, formerly Twitter. 24hr delay, so 1300 GMT Saturday (2 hour launch window, I think)
  14. On a side note (and possibly somewhat related), all the sold / completed ads remain in a user's wishlist for every and every and ever. The option to 'remove from wishlist' disappears from the ad once it's completed. Which isn't helpful, it it stayed active then I could at least clear up my wishlist manually.
  15. Is it confirmed tomorrow?? Yeah I'll definitely watch it whenever it happens (praying it's not Saturday night or Sunday) Edit: This news item says Friday at 13:00 GMT Elon Musk might be a gigantic twat in many respects, but SpaceX is brilliant
  16. Not from me, that exhausts my limited knowledge of this gun, sadly. Good luck with sorting it out!
  17. Chuffed to see a couple of L85s appear in the Action Hobbies boneyard tonight, at prices that made me want to break out the old credit card...

Gutted when attempts to purchase either of 'em failed within 4 minutes of them appearing, as someone else beat my to the punch.   ARGGGGGHHHHHH.

Ah, my ICS L85 was bought in 'wall hanger' condition, I've got the motor to turn over but tbh I've never tried too hard to sort it

My Cybergun F2000 was bought as a project gun, so I changed the motor and added a MOSFET, but couldn't get it to shoot properly.  I've had stripped pistons, misfeeds, but now the gun locks up after a few bursts on full auto (but it's a great until that happens!). I've meddled with the insides but can't fix it.

I learned pretty quickly that I'm no tech, currently have 5 rif's away to get fixed or downgraded (1 is a L85A1).

  18. @TheFull9 it's weird, I know that's the right way to use a sling, but I've got too used to doing it the wrong way. Maybe I need to wander around the house with a slung rifle until it feels normal. A few days might do the trick Separately... with a heartfelt 'pretty please', could @LzChase please fix the typo in the thread title, it triggers my OCD (or something similar) every time I see this thread show up on the activity page
  19. Those pictures aren't blank, they're views of "Bag Interior" by the Colour-blind Hedgehog Workshop of Sienna
  20. Caveat: I'm no expert, as my gun isn't running properly, but I have some experience... You might not have sufficient pressure in the system. That will cause it cycle incompletely so the sear never engages. Make sure the bottle has at least 800psi in it. Note that unlike other HPA gats, for this the bottle doesn't need a regulator on it, the gun does it itself. If it's still not working correctly then adjust the settings in the gun so the pressure (via the internal regulation) is increased.
  21. Apart from the fact this used to be two-tone (not the biggest issue in the world, can be cured with some spray paint and/or brake fluid to remove the old paint)... This is a bargain for a great gun. If I didn't have a spare DE 904 already I'd snap this up as a backup / project gun. Highly recommended.
  22. "BOOF-WHANGGGGG" I like his style He embedded a couple of frames of text, I had to read what it said...
  23. My go to choices are Geoff's and Warhead, but I've also used 'BB King' from Spec Ops and they've been fine
  24. This is useful, but disappointing info for me. I have a strong desire to get an L85, and the G&G would have been top of the list, but I wouldn't want to stop using my Lonex mags either (they're soooo ooo much better than high-caps)
