  1. Having won a rather nice OhShiBoom OMFG multi-shot grenade, I need to get some primers for it.... I can see commonly it's Fiocchi 615 or 616 primers available, and I can see 615's are more sensitive. I was probably going to buy a 3-pack to save a bit on the p&p, but I don't want to end up with loads of primers that are either too sensitive (just how sensitive can they be???) or so insensitive they won't always pop! Is there much difference? Am I worrying about nothing?
  2. New headset - thanks @Cr0-Magnon Looking forward to trying these out in CQB, in the meantime I can use 'em as hearing aids
  3. One thing bought, and one thing won! Crimping tool from eBay (hopefully I'll get my CA M15A3 running again), and OhShiBoom OMFG grenade won from Airsoft Competitions, which will come in damned useful once the Spec Ops CQB site is up-and-running next month!
  4. It's only Airsoft guns here... You might get lucky that someone has one, but it's very unlikely
  5. Oh oops, sorry I didn't spot that. (Having bought the wrong mag adapter for my g36, there's definitely something to be said for buying from a shop when the difference between new and used might only be a handful of pounds.. you can send it back if it doesn't fit!)
  6. You can buy them new here, they're cheap! https://www.davescustomairsoft.co.uk/the-g36-type-to-the-m4-type-magazine-adapter
  7. Right, I've dug my ear plugs out of my toolbox and tried them in again. They're Surefire Sonic Defenders Plus EP4-MPR in medium size. A few steps down from the Ultras linked above, I suspect, though they superficially look the same. Maybe I didn't squish them into my ears properly before, but they definitely block an appreciable amount of sound. They also block a lot of ambient sound (even with the little vent plugs opened), and so get that closed-in feel. They'll certainly do enough to keep my hearing safe though.
  8. I have a bit of an aversion to ear plugs unfortunately. Not the idea of them, just the actual use. As I mentioned, the army-approved ones I bought didn't seem to do much. And anyone who saw me on my morning stand-up video call, desperately fiddling around with my Bluetooth ear buds, would arrest that they don't seem to fit well in my ears. Still, £26 is a good price for something that would actually allow me to run with my current mesh lower face (and ears) mask...
  9. I've always had an eye for a bargain (read that as "tight-fisted" or "scrimping to the point of stupidity"), and that was when I was earning well. I'm on a relatively low paid job now for the foreseeable future, so shopping at the cheap or bargain bin end of the spectrum is going to be a necessity now, sadly. I'll look at those more expensive options, given your recommendation that they will retain value, but that might be a bit illusory if I'm buying them on a credit card and paying a lot of interest on 'em!
  10. Arise, thread, you must ARISE Always fun returning to hugely old threads... The cqb site that was supposed to have opened shortly after I started this thread is finally getting close to actually opening. As I've won a multi-shot grenade in a raffle, there'll definitely be some loud bangs happening, so I'll be buying some ear protection. The ear plugs I bought haven't really impressed me, they seem to block approximately bugger-all noise! I think a pair of Howard Leight Impact Sports are in order. I checked on eBay, there are ones that are definitely kosher for £65 and up, but also a bunch that look the same, but are only £25-35. I take it these are Chinese knock-offs that should be avoided? Example cheap listing... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/186018585928
  11. Looks like you could build a new gat from the contents of your toolbox 😂
  12. I went with the ebay one, cos 1. I've already got the account set up 2. Cheap. 3. Free 3 day postage 4. errr.... that's it, but that's good enough (in all respects) I think Cheers for all your help chaps, it's much appreciated, I never knew there was so much involved in fixing a spade connector to a wire, but it's been a right old schooling
  13. I currently have so many toolboxes, tool drawers, tool bags, and plastic boxes containing more tools, that I quite often end up buying things I'm sure I already own but cannot locate. However, a crimping tool has definitely never been purchased. (I did check the two wire stripping tools I own in case they also did crimping duties, but alas not) So yeah, guess I'll do it 🥴
  14. If my l33t needle-nose pliers skillz remain lacking, is this the very thing I need? https://www.screwfix.com/p/forge-steel-crimping-pliers-9-220mm-/489XG Ah, I forgot there was this one posted earlier: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/154287918094 And that actually says '2.8mm' on it, which inspires more confidence. The main problems are it's a few more quid, and it's not available in a shop down the road
  15. You gotta watch Mighty Boosh Surreal humour, loved it, got the box set etc Well, I thought I'd give the crimping a go as I found my best needle-nose pliers. I've not had much luck... perhaps all this talk of 'over crimping' has meant I've not 'fully committed', but the damned spade connector is never on tight enough to survive any manipulation. I have got the motor to run though, I did get a good enough connection to do that... but when trying to fiddle the wires into place in the grip, it came off again. Is the fact I've got a multi-strand core the problem? Do I need to tin it with my soldering iron for best results?
  16. Oh, I forgot my toothbrush And my microfibre cloth. And the multi-tool in my belt rig. Just because I carry a shit-ton(ne) of stuff, doesn't mean it all gets used, so here's what I've actually used from my toolbox (or other people have borrowed!), with most-used at the top: Reading glasses (as I'm wearing long distance contacts during the day). Allen keys, both metric and yank (... Very cheap from Amazon) Assortment of screwdrivers Anti fog wipes AR tool (for stock nut, barrel etc) Loctite thread lock glue (low strength) to fix stock nuts coming undone on both my DE and VFC Lubricants (silicone grease and oil) Chrono Battery tester (for LiPos) Spare batteries (AA, AAA, CR2032 etc) as I often forget to turn off a sight after test-firing at home Spare nuts and bolts (needed to fix MOLLE mounting on my mag pouches)
  17. I'm very grateful! I didn't know anything about crimping, beyond what these guys taught me...
  18. It's a good idea. You'll want an unjamming rod somewhere in there, just in case, but here's my kit (which does move away from 'tools' towards 'accessories' I admit...) (It spans both a tool box, and a tool bag which lives inside my rucksack. The latter also holds my ammo and gas and goes to the game zone. The box stays in the safe zone) Allen keys, both metric and yank (... Very cheap from Amazon) Assortment of screwdrivers Assortment of tape (electrical, heat wrap, PTFE, velcro) Bungee cords Paracord Cable ties Head light, torch Reading glasses, spare contact lenses Anti fog wipes Lubricants (silicone grease and oil) Pliers Tweezers Scissors AR tool (for stock nut, barrel etc) Spare batteries (AA, AAA, CR2032 etc) Battery tester (for LiPos) Chrono Loctite thread lock glue (low strength) Super glue Assorted m-lok and RIS spare nuts and bolts, grips etc
  19. I should have added a : hugely rolling eyes in sarcasm: emoji after my comment about my skills 😋. So thanks for the hints. I will take care with the crimp but my soldering 'skills' would likely be worse than anything I do with some pliers! (I am trying quite hard to avoid spending £15 on a crimp tool that I won't get much use out of)
  20. I'll have to check whether my wire stripper tool can also crimp... But can't a decent pair of needle nose pliers in my highly skilled hands not do the job?
  21. Thanks, I bought these as they're cheap, with free delivery tomorrow, spot on!
  22. One of the female spade connectors to connect from the gun to the motor has broken in my Classic Army M15... I went off to Halfords and bought the smallest one they had, but it's still mahoosive compared to the diddy litle thing on the other wire. I'd say it's about 2.5 or 3mm across by memory. (Stupidly I didn't actually measure it when I had the pistol grip apart) I presume Amazon or eBay will be the best place to go (in the absence of bricks'n'mortar Maplin's stores :sniff:) but can someone let me know the absolutely-definitely-no-doubt-about-it correct size to order? Cheers!
  23. Yes you can definitely play with just a couple of mags and a speedloader, it adds some extra jeopardy to the proceedings, makes it more exciting 😋 I bought a specialised adapter from eBay for my VFC 416 mags. I think it made loading slightly easier. Of more importance is the quality of the speedloader. The cheapest ones won't even feed BBs reliable through their own mechanism. The slightly better ones will struggle to push BBs against a strong spring. The best ones work as you'd hope. I have one like that, but damned if I know what brand it is. I believe the g&g speedloader is rated very highly, I've not bought one yet but it's on my shopping list!
  24. I went through 10kg, so ~35,000 of their 0.28g bio BBs with no issues, so yeah 👍 Someone else on here did some scientific testing (consistency, accuracy) to compare different brands, and they came out of that very well too... So not just me that likes 'em £9.50 a bag is a bit pricey unless that includes p&p Go direct: https://www.warheadindustries.co.uk/product-page/warhead-delta-0-25g-bb-non-bio
