  1. A couple of boneyard purchases... Action Hobbies does me a favour again... 3 x polymer mid-caps for £7 which are to go in my Tippmann, because the Lonex flash mags quite often unwind on insertion, so these seem a better bet. Also, I'm only going to run the Tippmann on semi-auto - seems a bit more 'suitable' to that play-style. (And as a minor bonus I get to use the Odin knock-off I bought second hand yonks ago) An Eotech clone for £8. Just cos I can't stop myself buying super-cheapo optics, it seems. It's not that bad, surprisingly! And Land Warrior returned the pair of VFC HK416 mags I bought a couple of weeks ago, that were leaking. They now seem fixed, and they turned them around pleasingly quickly ... i.e. just in time for my next game-day tomorrow. Phew!
  2. My mags have come back from Land Warrior, and with a squirt of gas in each they seem good! I have no hint as to what they did to fix 'em, so I'll give them a call on Monday because it might have been down to the grease / oil choice, or maybe they replaced a gasket or o-ring. Whatever it was, it seems to be useful info!
  3. Picked up my cheap-ass Eotech clone from Action Hobbies boneyard. I have to say, for £8 it is surprisingly 'not shit' ? It must be very bargain-basement, there are no trades or stickers or manufacturer's marks on it, and yet the reticle is as bright as my Sotac, well focused, looks alright even when viewed off-centre. Usual amount of parallax at very short range, but fine at 15m. The only thing is the glass is noticeably more tinted than the Sotac, and the overall build quality is merely 'ok'. I wouldn't trust it to hold zero, but at the stupidly low price I really don't care I might stick it on something with recoil to see how long it'll survive, just as an experiment, but it looks tidy enough I might just put it on a backup gun and forget about it
  4. What would you calibrate it against? I don't know about 'fancy' chronos, but my cheap-ass little AliBaba-special has no option to do such a thing. You can expect chrono's to disagree by a few fps, so allow for it to return a few fps lower than a site chrono, just to be safe.
  5. The black DE is less ugly than the tan one, partly because of the longer barrel, but it still doesn't float my boat Edit: pic I did used to like the honey badger look... I think the top rail is just a couple of cm too long, if it had a front sight mounted on it (even folded flat) it would make it look better. Or an optic.
  6. Might not be that controversial tbh, Speedbird I've not played any CQB yet, but my thinking was to use the T1/2 style sight for that when I get the chance. Looking around the sight rather than through it, to get the floating red dot, the smaller body of it is surely an advantage over the chunky eotech. But I can see 'nothing' being an alternative.. though it immediately loses some 'cool points' for the less realistic look of it. (Realism and its importance being something so subjective as to be hardly worth mentioning) Unfortunately my cheap T1 is in the process of dying. £20 (used) was too cheap, and my intended replacement is a used Vortex for £100ish with its excellent Lifetime no quibble warranty. I did at least get to try out the style of sight though, I can be sure I'll like and use a good 'un. There's a point where money is wasted, but of course personal budgets are always a factor not to be sniffed at.
  7. I started a thread asking the same thing, rocket and I agreed to disagree in the end, and I went ahead with a cheaper option than the Holy Warrior (be aware to that HW make multiple versions including cheap ones that aren't anything special) https://airsoft-forums.uk/topic/55477-any-recommendations-for-an-eotech-clone-sight-551553558/ FWIW the cheaper Sotac one I bought still seems fine, but it's not had a good shake on my GBBR or Tippmann HPA yet. Here's a pic looking through the sight. The glass isn't too tinted in my opinion Red Dot Engineering make good sight protectors, here's the one I bought https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/294301338289 I've just bought a dirt cheap clone from Action Hobbies boneyard, it'll be interesting to 'compare and contrast' with that ?
  8. Land Warrior have just emailed me to say they've fixed the mags and they're on their way back to me... should be here in time for Saturday's skirmish - so fingers are crossed they really fixed them!
  9. * batteries Just sayin'
  10. Thanks, mine are now back at Land Warrior. I'll send them the information as I asked for a fix or repair to be done as quickly as possible I'm active in the comments on the YouTube video linked earlier... Complaints that all the new mags are leaking. One chap got 6 that all leak. I wonder if they've all been over tightened at the factory, that has caused the issue with the mags being tight in the well and damaged the seal...? Hmmm, it's the screw inside the mag that would affect that seal isn't it? Mine didn't seem overly tight when I first dismantled it
  11. Here's mine, all metal, m906c with a more classic look Just £189 https://bbguns4less.co.uk/products/double-eagle-m906c-ar15-rifle-with-falcon-system-in-black.html
  12. I'm so annoyed that I looked at this exact guitar stand, for my guitars... And completely failed to put 212 and 347 together to make 559 and buy one for my guns. I can only conclude I must be an idiot
  13. Narrow face, you say....? You made me hide behind the sofa, so many times! And... You have no ears, glasses won't work, better get goggles
  14. You guys know I love my DE, and I've been enamoured with all their recent releases. But that is, to use an excellent Scottish word, "howfing"
  15. I think you're perfectly entitled to to think that, but there are very few guns out there that people will leave completely untouched once they've had it for a while. Changing the hop rubber (for a softer one more suitable for our lower average temperatures), nub, maybe a ZCI hop unit, and perhaps a spring selected to hit the 350fps / 0.20g site limit are usually relatively cheap and simple to do (assuming a quick change spring system), and can give appreciable gains in performance. Once people start talking about changing barrels and motors (still relatively simple, usually, but now a bit more more expense), it's getting 'arguable'. And then the next steps are cracking open gearboxes to change pistons, gears etc... Yeah if that's required it's a step too far for a lot of people. (I went that way quite willingly, and didn't have the talent to get my project gun, an F2000, working again. It's gathering dust in my loft)
  16. We could try really hard to kill off every duplicate thread that ever starts, but I don't think that's necessarily very good for the longer-term health of a forum. Better to forgive than forbid (or something along those lines... you get my gist I'm sure)
  17. The website description does indeed sound sexy - it looks like a good mid-tier gnu in the making, if the QC is good.
  18. My usual vote of confidence in the Double Eagle. (I'm still waiting on those royalty checks, you bastards!) I've got a Cyma M14 (the full length 'Nam version, rather than the compact SOCOM variety). It does seem a pretty decent gun but I haven't gone as far as skirmishing it yet. From what I saw in the short time I've fired it at range (rather than just the 15-18m in my garden), it's a steady rather than stellar out-of-the-box performer, but it gets a lot of love here. It's a undeniably cool gun though (especially as Full Metal Jacket remains one of my favourite films) Disassembling it, even just to replace the hop-up rubber, seems a bit scarier than with other rifles. And the large quantity of plastic involved in the making a full rifle stock makes it a bit creaky. If you do choose one, I'd send it off to Luke at Negative Airsoft to do the work for you - he'll sprinkle some pixie dust in there to make it a real good 'un (by all accounts) Long-ish story short, the DE 908 would be a simpler thing to 'tech' yourself, and you'll be able to ask Fatboy for all the advice you could need. I'm sure he'll be more than happy to help!
  19. So, after my Double Eagle springer died on me after a few shots, I still had an itch for a 'humiliation' / 'have a laugh' gun for my armoury. This thing popped up in the Action Hobbies boneyard for a tenner and as I've already got another itch for a 'proper' 1911 just to fidget with, this appeared to be a two-birds-with-one-stone scenario... Quite a tidy little pot-metal springer for a few quid I thought. Then I tried to look this model up on-line to see how much it normally goes for... it's made by Vigor. Plastic versions go for £12 brand new, and the 'all metal' is a mere £17 !!! (Probably not this exact model. I couldn't find one with the crosses on the hand-grip. Which are ridiculous, but then again it's cheesy enough to fit in with the intended 'humiliation' usage ☺️) So not actually much of a bargain in the pricing then. The real surprise though is how it shoots - really quite well! It's got a fixed hop-up because the thing has no trouble popping shots (0.20g) at > 17m. The fact it's perhaps slightly over-hopping is about the only thing stopping me from hitting an A4 target with any consistency. It shoots better than the DE spring rifle I had! (Loading the BBs into the mag is a bit weird and awkward though) If there's any out there who wants to carry a secondary just for the looks and the occasional close-range or last ditch shot, well, maybe the Vigor pistols are worth a pop... of course this might shit the bed at any minute, I'll let you know
  20. Don't worry, DE still make some shitty old springers But there are threads for the new ones, you can see they're not full of people complaining about them, though the stock spring is made of cheese and will need replacing. And the stock hop rubber is tough as old boots, so might as well chuck in something a bit more malleable to hop 0.28s and up ... one I started, which has some accuracy and upgrade tests
  21. Haha take a wild guess Wavey Akshully... I'm technically not holding it with my hands... it's between my knees, and I'm using my hands With Realistic Gripping Fingers (tm)(c) to do up the nut. But I appreciate there's quite a difference in the amount of torque I can apply.
  22. Well I've taken the mag apart again a couple of times, but I can't make it even as good as it was originally (and it's sometimes a lot worse), however much I tighten the screws / bolts / valves. I'm going to send it back for LandWarrior to fix or replace. Ho hum, this airsofting lark is never entirely easy! On a different note, my stock sometimes decides to a bit askew. I've tightened the nut down as much as I can with my AR tool, but obviously it's easy to apply quite a lot of twisting force on the stock itself which loosens it off a tad, allowing the stock to move. I can see as part of the receiver there's a little spring, but that doesn't seem to do much, especially as it's got trapped and bent in half whilst trying to escape at some point in its life... There's the small hole in the sling plate that looks like a detente catch or locking pin could go into - but that doesn't line up with the spring - so I'm at a loss. I do have some Loctite thread lock knocking around somewhere - should I use a tiny bit of that to keep the nut in place?
  23. No personal experience of either... One of them makes bargain price GBBRs which might be worth a try, but really I'd place Double Eagle on a higher tier of value/quality There are quite a few DE Fan Bois here ?
  24. Ahem. (Double eagle says 'hello' ?)
  25. Thanks, sensible words. I've got all the tools, including the valve key, just not the skills, or the luck ? I'll have another go before I send it back. I'll stick with the 0.40s as I don't want to have too many varieties of ammo knocking around, I hated having 0.20, 0.25, 0.28 as I'd inevitably forget what mags contained which ammo! Your English is very good, wish I could speak more languages...
