What are you're rig/vest recommendations
Cannonfodder replied to Gavin W's topic in Guns, Gear & Loadouts
Great bits of kit these but unfortunately they're not the bargain they used to be -
They're definitely fun in CQB I know what you mean about them either being underpowered or you need arms like Arnie. If you want to run a shotgun as a primary then definitely go with gas. Yes they're a bit more expensive but they're so much more fun

Suitable load carrying equipment will vary, not just on personal preference but also on what sort of games you play. At woodland skirmishes I use a SADF M83 chest rig. It has 3 double mag pouches which comfortably hold many different magazine types, 2 pouches which are a perfect size for BFGs and another small pouch. This is then paired up with a belt kit consisting of a pistol holster, pistol mag pouch, extra gas and a rubber knife. For CQB I go with a low profile plate carrier which holds pistol mags, shotgun shells on the front and a shotgun scabbard on my back. Belt kit is as above, but with the BFGs on my hip instead of the pistol mags -
One other thing about the ASG is that the suppressor is actually a barrel extension. Don't use it as it puts your muzzle energy close to DMR levels and the 2 piece design completely buggers up accuracy. There's guides online on how to convert it to a suppressor, but I took the easy route and picked up a 14mm adapter to fit a shorter one.

Sorry to hear your story and I hope you recover quickly -
It reminds me of the baby poop patterns seen painted on FALs from the Rhodesian civil war

It's the what was available and won't break the bank on Amazon version. Tbh I've never seen the point in spending silly money on clothing which is only really used for dicking about in the woods one day a month. Only just realised how dodgy that looks, especially with the guy on the left looking like he's asking wtf I'm doing ???

I've got the ASG version and while the TM is certainly better quality the ASG isn't a bad gun, especially at that price. Between the 2 I'd say get the TM if you can, but the ASG is good alternative if you can't, or if you plan on doing "upgrades". I've never handled a SSX-23 so I can't comment on them

A couple of in game pics from Sunday showing my loadout. For some reason the tigerstripe came out looking grey in the first photo

I know what you mean, it can be a nice morale boost to get something hot in you (get your mind out of the gutter), especially as the days get colder. I often find that queueing for a burger often takes just as long as takes to cook up something on a camping stove, but you can also get other things sorted while waiting, rather than simply standing in a line -
Echoing everyone else, forget about the shotgun for now and the AEP permanently. AEPs are underpowered and generally crap so I suggest saving up for a decent gas pistol. As for AEGs, personally I'd go for the MP5 but that's because I'm very much a fanboy of German guns. However alone problem all the MP5s have is that the high cap magazines can have feeding problems especially on high rof guns. You can get around this by either using the mags Rogerborg linked to or go with mid caps, but neither of these are perfect solutions. Having posted that I wouldn't rule out the AK though as cyma gearboxes and hop units are excellent, especially for the price. Which do you prefer the look of? I say go with that

It's definitely got the potential to be a really good site and with the planned work I can see this happening. Just make sure to remember your lunch as there's none provided and the nearest shop is quite a way away -

So after months of life getting in the way, today I managed to get to South Herts Airsoft just south of Hemel Hempstead. Despite getting royally buggered by the gods of public transport it was a really good day. The site is well run with a relaxed atmosphere and an emphasis on making sure you got a decent amount of game time but without feeling like you're being rushed. The games themselves were well thought out and worked well with both the layout of the site and the numbers (they were fully booked but had a number of last minute cancellations, total was 23 iirc). Hit taking was also really good with no "wtf?" moments. On site facilities weren't great (portaloos and tables under gazebos) but they're still a new site and are planning on making changes so I can't really fault them there. They also had a selection of drinks for sale and Combat UK were there with bbs, gas and pyros for sale. All in all I think I've found my new regular site -

Probably similar to why advertised easy fixes are never done -
There's a reason for that ?

I'll do some tests on sunday Could the dodgy readings be down to the chrono? I know some don't like full auto fire so I guess 3 at once could also cause problems

Sending RIFs in UK. Should you purchase the extra insurance?

Relatively speaking -
You're right, 2 bbs per barrel. This has got me thinking though, would the extra weight of 2 bbs cause joule creep? I might have to do some testing on sunday

It's BBGuns4less so I'm not surprised they're recommending dodgy stuff -
Whilst I'd say using 6 shot mode is unnecessary I wouldn't call it wankery. I remember playing at Electrowerkz where many people had a M203 hanging off the bottom of their AR. Shells for the could hold anything up to 200 bbs and I don't remember anyone complaining

I could be wrong but I've always assumed these shops have business accounts and would have different terms and conditions allowing them to ship rifs -

Iirc the only courier who will carry rifs (at least sent by Joe Public) are parcelforce using the 48hr service. As for whether the extra cost of insurance is worth it, unfortunately that's down to how much of a risk you're willing to take. Having worked for a courier company in the past and seeing how parcels are treated along with how much stuff goes walkies I'd probably pay the extra for the piece of mind that if something does go wrong I'm not several hundred quid out of pocket
