  1. Anyone got tips for getting “silent fill o-rings” out of TM valves? Digging with a needle isn’t getting anywhere….

That is a cool trick! I managed to dig them out with a needle and a lot of swearing 🤬

Looking to buy some 7mm ID stainless tube as the previous owner cut of ALL of the fill tubes. Epoxy it on the remaining stub and allow some gas expansion space 👍

  2. Tested ASG Beige gas against Abbey 144a in my MWS, probably about 18DegC.

    ASG = 1.08J

    Abbey = 0.86J.

    (270fps vs 240fps on 0.32g)

Will keep a bottle on-hand for those warm summers days. ASG was reading  268 - 272fps yesterday at UCAP Gloucester when it was 20-22DegC so close to the limit. Nuprol white was 255 - 260ish.

I figure if we, as a MWS community, can share this info it will let people spend money on stuff that suits their needs and save costly experimentation 👍

I can also say that the ML MR Hop Silicon 60deg over-hop 0.32g even with hop set to minimum. Stock TM refitted.

  3. Finally finished faffing around with nozzles, valves, blockers and springs and the MWS. TM nozzles give 45fps LESS than the Guns Modify nozzles....DP aluminium valve adds 100fps over the GM plastic one...two identical valve springs vary by 15fps...

Steel bolt is shooting at 1.08J, spare nozzle gives 1.07J.
Spare Aluminium bolt has a NPAS in so can dial it up or down (and hopefully it won't self adjust!)

Mine came with a Crazyjet barrel (+20fps) and running 0.32g means you get Joule creep. In warm weather an NPAS or carefully selected nozzle parts are needed to keep it under 1.13J

I am surprised by the variance in output with things like rocket valves and nozzle brands. I would make a chart of them but given the seemingly random QA and materials in airsoft I am not sure it would be useful!

      Yeah, some big differences.

The G&P valve stop with the low-med-high holes in it is a great idea but when low is 215fps and medium 290fps (for a 276fps limit) it is of little use.

I have an idea for an adjustable valve stop that you can set&forget and just alter at the start of summer / winter.

  5. Been researching different gas pressures for my TM MWS. Usually using ASG Ultrair (beige bottle) and found this handy video comparing different gasses.

“Airsoft Mike” Youtube video shows the following (amongst others):

    Nuprol 1.0 - 320fps

    ASG Ultrair - 345fps

    V6 - 365fps

    V8 - 375fps

    Nuprol 3.0 - 375fps

Obviously it will vary from platform to platform but a handy guide to, in the words of “Play Your Cards Right”, higher or lower? 😁

I have had a look at the new Ultrair range and like that they print the range of temperatures / pressures on the can. Can’t see anywhere the temperature quoted for Vorsk, just the pressure….pretty useless without that info.

To be honest I find the regular ASG runs fine in temps I am going to be out in (15degC yesterday and 1J plus) and I have a couple of cans of Nuprol 3.0 Red if needed.

Warmer weather might be an issue as I have dumped the self-adjusting NPAS and will have to change the rocket valve to drop the power.

  6. do people usually run comms on a sunday skirmish? debating if its worth getting a pair of comms capable ear pro, or just run a bog standard walkers razor or howard leights and invest into comms later

I have a pair of the Honeywell / Howard Leigh ones that are mainly for hearing protection.

I can run a 3.5mm cable from the fist mic to one side if I want but I am tending to just run my UV-5R on the shoulder of my rig harness (where the fist mic would be anyway!) and avoid the cable spaghetti / faff.

Not too worried about players nearby hearing my radio (turn beeps off!) as they are usually pretty oblivious at the best of times :)

  7. PSA: Loctite 242 stress fractures TM plastic hand guards and makes then disintegrate :(

It was on a metal bolt, not on the plastic! Just being in close proximity was enough to cause issues.

  8. Why is everyone and their dog selling AR-9s now? Seems to be the new ubiquitous "thing".

    1. SSPKali

      SSPKali

oh that, that is just following on from the trend in real gun owners in the US running PCC (Pistol caliber carbines) in competitions as the ammo is cheaper and recoil less=faster shot times - TBH they should just run .22LR and be done with it 🤣 But maybe that isn't manly enough....

But I agree it is a dumb idea in airsoft....

There was a run on heavily "upgraded to level one millionty" TM NGRS recently too. Guess some people realised they can't buy their way to a win.

I have used a FOBUS holster for my WE G19 with an Olight on it. Held the pistol nicely but wasn't the quickest to draw or re-holster (depends how much of a gun slinger you are!)

£30-35 depending on belt fitting. https://www.tactical-kit.co.uk/fobus-glock-17-light-bearing-holster-rbt17-12799-p.asp

Suffice to say this is the last time I am ordering from them. I spent 15 years in retail and would have torn a strip off any member of staff pulling this on my customers.

Seems that their shipper suddenly decided that gun parts, of any kind, were unacceptable to handle.

They have a new freight forwarder sorted but also have a big backlog. Still no timescales (or info on the website about it) but the offer of a refund.

10 days now, zero comms. Usually have a shipping confirmation after a week even if the parts are still in Customs.

Shipping issues on the US side would do it...hopefully they will give me an update.

I have always run mid-caps as reloading / going Winchester is always fun and keeps you on your toes! I have kept the AK hi-cap as it came with the gnu and it does as a loaner for n00bs.

Now I run a GBBR most of the time I am limited to 35rds, but in CQB games I rarely empty 3 mags even in heavy firefights. Pick your shots, know what you have a good chance of hitting and try to keep count :)

Motor and spring turned up today and I have just crammed it all into my G&P M4. Super snappy single shot and the 3rd burst has the BBs flying about a foot behind each other :) 345fps on 0.20g (M110 Rocket spring and 5mm spacer, was a little low without the spacer, around 315fps)
